Mar 15, 2010I have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".

Jan 25, 2010I have a very simple FormView that has several fields on it. There is a field that either returns a "1" or "0" based on conditions in the database. If the value is "1", I want to leave the label control as is (normal font, in black). However, if the value is "0" I want to change the font to bold and change the forecolor to red. Simple, right?
I am able to change the font-bold property using the code below, but if I use the code to attempt to change the font color, I get the following error message for this line:
An exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in App_Web_hoge3m1x.dll but was not handled in user code
Additional information: Specified cast is not valid.

Oct 20, 2010I have an asp page with a textboxes, labels and other controls. I cannot get the .text to change in any of these controls. I click on button which I execute code that I expect to update the text but it doesn't work. Something like Textbox1.text = "Hello" Are there page level properties/settings I should look at? I am perplexed an looking for a place to start. I will provide more information as needed. I just don't know where to start.

Jan 24, 2011I have a form where users enter information in a multi-line text box. This could be anything, such as bullets, carriage return line feeds, etc. Think of anything that you might copy and paste into a multi-line text box from Word Pad, or Word. I then store this information into a SQL Server NText field.When I retreive this information, I need to display it as the user entered it into the text box field into a Literal or Label control (or something else if there is a better alternative) to display it. Problem is that when I display this text into the Text
property of a Literal control everything is jumbled and all characters (bullets) are lost, no carriage returns, etc. One big mush of stuff. If I display this information in the Text property of Label control, I get the bullet characters, but no carriage returns

Feb 2, 2011I have a problem with the Ajax ComboBox from the Ajax Control ToolKit. When I want to erase the text in the ComboBox, I got this error:
"Microsoft JScript runtime error: '_optionListItems[...].text' is null or not an object". I only get this error when deleting the content of the Combox is the first action I do on the ComboBox. If I overwrite the text by entering something else before deleting this text, I got no error.

Jul 14, 2010I have been messing about with this for hours surely this should be an easy task ....... I have a stored procedured that creates a invoice on a Quotetable one of the parameters is a output parameter Invoice Number this is passed to a label. (Label1) This works great.
I then need to add items to the invoice on a item table so my next stored procedure should take the value of Label1 and update the foreign key quotenumber on the itemtable with the value from label1.
On the aspx page I have a small section for a gridview which shows the current quote with however many items on it using the control

VS 2005 - Label Not Hiding At Runtime
Aug 15, 2013I'm making a website in Visual Studio 2005 in VB.NET and I have a Label that needs to be visible if a GridView, populated from a SqlDataSource, has no rows.
I added message boxes to each event that the GridView has to see which was the last to run before it was displayed.
I found that GridView1_Unload is the last event to run.
I added into this event the following code

After doing this the label doesn't hide when the GridView doesn't have any rows.

Mar 3, 2011I have a asp:listbox with 5 items in it. By default the list box is disabled. (i.e it only shows the items in it but user cant do anything with these items.) I have to make the color of these items in the list box to red but when the listbox is disabled the items are defaulted to the gray color. Any idea how I can change the color of the items in the disabled list box ?
