Web Forms :: Have A Few Websites That Should Access A Central Location (folder) On A Different Domain That Stores Pics?/
Oct 21, 2010
I have a few websites that should access a central location (folder) on a different domain that stores pics. In previous version of this system I stored each pics folder under the same domain and I could access the files with FileInfo
Dim fi As FileInfo = New FileInfo(MapPath(img.ImageUrl))
How can I ger the file info for a file in a different domain ?
We have many applications. All the applications are having there one access control. I am . All the application should refer this repository for access (We can say it one point contact).
the account we use to copy/publish websites to our web server is not allowing us access to push websites. I've added this account to the permissions in the links listed in the below link, but i don't have success when trying to push remotely. When the account is in the local admins account, everything works flawlessly, but we are not allowed to have it in there. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/31be047e-4716-4974-b8a1-be0111b50199 I've googled and searched a lot for this particular error, but am not finding an answer that helps. We get this error, 'Unable to create the Web 'http://edea01/test/planning'. You are not authorized to perform the current operation', and the above link is the scenario that matches mine the most. I don't do develompment work, but am asked to figure out this connection problem.
I would like to write an MVC application that accesses multiple data stores (SQL Server, MySQL, Cloud based, etc.).Most of the examples I see use LINQ to SQL for their data access but I read somewhere that LINQ only supports SQL Server - it may have been an old post.I was wondering what the best way to access these different data stores would be. Can I use the Data Access Application Block from MVC to access these data stores?
I want to secure folder of my website for example if some one do [URL] then it is giving access to mayur.doc which is in templocation folder of my website
Can i retrict the windows dialog to select only files from the selected folder and avoid to navigate from another folders?i am selecting from server side.
Here I trying to open a folder location through my save path in database. I binded a gridview with a hyper link as a template column. In hyperlink's Navigationurl proprty I write this
NavigateUrl = '<%Eval("ProjectPath") %>'
It's working fine with path which doesn't have spaces like D:/Myprojects/Project1. But if this path wud like be D:/Myprojects/Project 1, it doesn't work. how to come over this.
I am developing an ASP.Net MVC application that throws a "Required permissions cannot be acquired" exception. The weird thing is that if I change the location of the folder containing my app to another location, the app runs just fine. (i.e Copy the folder from .../Programs/MyApp to ...Desktop/MyApp)I have checked the folder permissions and they are fine
Environment: Windows 2008 R2 x64 [IIS7.5] irectoryInfo("D:MySecretFolder") I get thrown the following error. 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed
Application pool is using NetworkService account as its identity and I have given that account full rights on that folder.
When my ASP.NET site uses documents (e.g. XML), I normally load the document as follows:
Server.MapPath("~DocumentsMyDocument.xml")
However, I would like to move the Documents folder out of the website folder so that it is now a sibling of the website folder. This will make maintaining the documents considerably easier.
However, rewriting the document load code as follows:
Server.MapPath("../../Documents/MyDocument.xml")
results in a complaint from ASP.NET that it cannot 'exit above the top directory'.
how I can relatively specify the location of a folder outside the website folder? I really don't want to specify absolute paths for the obvious deployment reasons.
I am developing a website in MVC 2.0. I want to change the View folder location in my website. I wanted to keep the views folder inside other folders, When I try to do so i am getting following errors
The view 'Index' or its master was not found. The following locations were searched:
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
My Views folder will be in ~/XYZ/ABC/Views instead of ~/Views. Will I get any problems If I change the default Views folder location. Do I need to change anything in HTML Helper classes because I don't know anything in MVC as this is my starting project i dont want to risk.
Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
I have several web sites, all of which use the same JavaScript library. How can I "reference" this library from each of my web sites? If I just import the library into my web site in Visual Studio, I get in trouble as soon as the library changes, because I then have to update it in all web sites manually. It would be much easier to place the library in an external folder and just reference it from my web sites. How can I do this with Visual Studio?
1) the default page loads, it will read the Windows Login of the user opening the page. 2) I'll check if this login exists in a table stored on the webserver.
In this Access Database, there's a 2nd linked table, pointing to another access table on a network location. Now, I want to read data from this linked table. However, at this moment I receive an error:
"The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\<ip><shared-folder>statistics.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data".
Some extra info:
- The network folder has read and write permissions for everyone
- the user and group permissions on both access files are set to read/modify/administer for the Admin user (on the tables I want to read from)
- IIS authentication on the server is set to "Windows Authentication" (this is needed so I can read the Windows Login from the user). All other authentication modes are disables (like anonymous, ...)
- When the error occurs, no other program or process has access to the statistics.mdb (so, it can't be locked by someone else)
Like I said before, in this statistics.mdb file, there are 2 tables. One normal table, and another linked table (pointing to a network location)
Searching for solutions, I discovered the following:
- if I don't use linked tables, everything works fine (however, I have to use this linked table)
- even if I connect directly to the table in the network I receive the error. So, I'm pretty sure I don't have sufficient rights to read from this table.
I read that not the Admin user is opening the file, but actually a user called ASP.NET. This user doesn't have the correct rights to do this. However, I'm not sure if this is true.
I implemented the Location tag in the web.config file to authorize the anonymous users for Images folder. I deployed the code in IIS6.0 with Forms authentication mode enabled for the virtual directory. I disabled all other authentication modes. When I browse the login page, Images are not displaying. When I set Anonymous authentication in IIS6.0 for the Image folder, it works fine.
i'm creating a asp.net web application in which i need to select source file using browse button to select the Source location from where the files has to be copied from and destination file using browse button to select the destination location where the files has to be copied to .So pls tell me what should be the code for browse button to browse a folder for source and destination and copy the source folder files to destination folder(i want to copy only text and excel files from source to destination folder) and i want user to see the progress how files are copying from source to destination and error also if there is any error in copying.
i ve deployed a site, i want to give access only to particular IPs (192.168.0.12 to 192.168.0.80). If a request is coming from particular IPs then site should open otherwise a authentication message shown to other users. How can we achieve this?
I have a class file stored in the app code folder. A certain page that I want to access is inside its own folder within the root and it is using the namespace within the class file in the app code folder. How do I tell the application where the file is? I'm sure I could put the code in a file inside my folder, but I'd rather not have duplicate code in two different files... unless there is a way to make a reference of some type.
So I would like my solution to save in the same folder as the rest of my files. I am a win forms developer so web is new to me.
1) Is there any reason why I shouldn't do that for web.
2) Second how do I do that. I know that I can change the solution's saving location by changing ToolsOptionProjects & SolutionsProject's Location. However, I just want it to use the location of the new website I create and not that specification.
