Web Forms :: How To Move The Body From That Master Page Into Each Individual Page
May 16, 2010
I have built a web site for our company in 2.0 (to be upgraded to 3.5 at a later time). The landing page (default) does not use a master page, where as the back pages do use a master page. I am using a style sheet in a root folder called "styles" (all background images are loaded from the style sheet), and the images are located in a root folder called "images".Adding the preload image scripts head section in the default page is simple enough, but I am not sure about what to do in the pages that use master pages.Would it be correct to place the preload image script in the content place holder named "head" for the pages that use the master page? And if so, do I move the "body' from that master page into each indivual page?
I am using Master page and Content page combination. But how can i access <body> tag and it's event (onload, onunload) of Master page in .aspx page that is not a content page.
All I want to do is access the <body> element from the code-behind of a content page and add a class name to it.
I have a top-level master page with the <body> element in it. Then I have a nested master page which is the master page for the content page. From the code behind of the content page I want to add a class name to the body element. That's all.
I have this in the top-level master:
<body id="bodyNode" runat="server">
I added this to the code-behind for the content page:
I am working on a website with a half dozen or so pages that all use a master page template. As such the BODY tag is located in the master page markup. For one of the pages, I need to add an onload JS function to the BODY tag. How can I do this without running the function on all of the pages?
I'm trying to write a way of setting the css class on the body tag in a master page from the content form page through a page directive variable. Everything seems like it should work here, however when I use my BodyCssClass variable, the page content isn't generated, just the master page content. Also, if instead of using the page directive variable, I just put <% BodyCssClass = "mybodyclass"; %> in default.aspx, that works.

Some time ago I converted an old windows application to a web application. This web application works fine as a stand alone app. I was recently informed that my client had a new standard layout and they are using a master page. They sent me the master page.
The web application is quite basic in that it makes a number of calls to a web service to retreive a list of customer, retrieve list of products and allows customer to create an order containing products.
I did the following to get make use of master page:
Copied it to my solution Update the page directive to include the MasterPageFile attribute and set it to point to master pageAdded the relevant content areas to my page Copied my code (control declarations etc) into the relevant content areas. The application compiles correctly and renders as expected. However, it does not behave as expected.
For example, I display a list of customers in a GridView. The user can select a customer by clicking the select button that is present for each row in GridView. I do this once and select a customer the page is posted back and relevant row is selected. I select a different customer and the page it posted back but this time the selected row does not change. It is still shown as the first row i selected.
This functionality works as expected if i remove the master page attribute and content areas.
I think this may be to simple of a question for these forums, but I guess I'll risk a little tarnish on my armor. In my web application, some of the pages I create don't have enough content to fill up the whole page. So it extends to the bottom (or beyond) of the browser window.
Where could I find an example, or, does someone have an example of how to make the content area of an individual page expand so the footer of my page is indeed at the bottom of the window? Kind of an auto-growing/shrinking thing.
i have seen many site where individual web parts load with busy icon when page loads. without using web parts how can develop a page where individual section will load with busy icon when page loads.
I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?
create a page which contains a graph at the top,and for each item in the graph there's a fact sheet below.I already produce the fact sheets as stand-alone pages. Now,rather than recreating the fact sheet to include in the page I have to create, I'd like to use the work that already exists.
Is it realistic that I dynamically generate each fact sheet as needed, strip out the body and insert that into the new page?
I have a master page homeMaster.aspx and many content pages. However the situation is I have few .html pages. Now when a user clicks on a link the html page should get loaded.inside the master page. The problem is these are .html and not content page with .aspx.
I have a master page containing a tree and 3 dropdown lists. I am populating a context menu on right click of each node, and when clicked on any item of the context menu, it navigates to required pages.
My problem is after navigating to the required page, the selected values from the drop down lists and the selected node from the tree are getting cleared.
I can set the selected values for the dropdown lists by making some properties in master page. But how do i maintain the selected node?
In my content page, i have got the valuepath of the right clicked node.
Or is there any other way than setting the properties in master page?
I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .
So for example.
Main master page = main.master My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master) content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)
So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.
So far I have got
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string nMaster = //This is the line of code that I am looking for. switch(master) { case "nested.master": //all my logic here. break; } }
I have a question about master page. After i pushed button i would like to change my master page to another master page for that page, is that possible?
I also have a working application that popukates my datagrid with valid data rows from my DataBase. What I cant figure out is how to get each of the hyperlink lables to NAVIGATE to the correct and corresponding aspx page!
For example I have 5 rows in the datagrid and each row has its own hyperlink, each row contains contact and a short profile on 5 diffrent companies. For example when i click on let say row 3 that has (eg) Jimmy's Big Prawn's Restaurant listed in the the datagrid, I want to be navigated to a webform page dedicated to Jimmy's Big Prawn Restaurant.
[Code]....
I am guesing it has to do with the bolded text above, but "details.aspx" is just an empty webform, I would like the hyperlink to point to (eg) JimmBigPrawnRestaurant.aspx.
Is it possible to inherit a sharepoint master page(as a parent) in another application's master page which will be treated as child (i.e. after integrating that standalone application with the sharepoint application)? I am totally new to Sharepoint..
<asp:Content ID="TitleContent1" ContentPlaceHolderID="PageTitlePlaceHolder" runat="Server"> My Page </asp:Content>
This works by placing the content page specific title on the page ("My Page" in this example). Now I want to add a global prefix to the title in my master page for the site name. So I want:
