I've an asp menu on my site. I need to dynamically populate this from my database depending on a choice made by the user.
Basically, when entering the site the User chooses a product category and this selection determines the options in my menu. I'm totally lost as to how to populate my menu each time the user changes their category - I've only ever hardcoded in the values to a this menu type so I've no idea how to programmatically populate it.
From what I can gather, it seems that its best to populate the menu via XML - if this is so could someone post a sample of what this XML structure (or let me know ehere I can view this)
I want when user click one of item from menubar it go to Furniture.aspx and when it go to that page in furniture.aspx show my product related to that item i have Product table in my DB

I have written a code that populates data from database into the tree using C# and is working perfectly , the thing is how can i populate the tree based on a selection from a drop down menu
I am using Asp.Net 3.5 along with C# and database is SQL Server 05. I am using Asp.net menustrip that is bind with with data source using LINQ to SQL. i also add some CSS stuff with menu so that after applying CSS my menu show at top of website horizontally.
But i need some JQuery Menu (stylish menu) which should be populate dynamically.
For Example i created two roles 1) Admin 2) User
When admin loggin the admin menu show when user loggin admin menu hide and all the data of menu is populate via JSON file. I am using sitemap to populate menu but now i want some JQuery Menu which is stylish and should populate accodrding to needs not be hard coded.
I have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...
I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:
FordTampa_customer is a table,
ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....
All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...
So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.
All right, on to the real point of my post...
Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.
I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:
[Code]....
I am not sure how to take those names from the table and do another select based on that list of names.
My app will be making some API calls to a service provider's app. It's all via HTTP calls. If my call succeeds, I will receive a response which will include an HTTP response code as well as some data in the body of the response. Two questions:How do I know what response I received i.e. 201, 404, etc.In the body, I'm expecting a JSON object.

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="WizardTest.aspx.cs" Inherits="WizardTest" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
Like many organizations, our customer service department receives faxes and process them in many different ways. The faxes come in through a queue. The faxes are presented to the user through a windows interface. The user ties a customer number to the fax and is allowed to split the fax into several different pages if necessary. They then send these different pages to different people in the organization.Currently the windows application that process these faxes uses a product that use to be part of Windows called KODAK.
The hope is that the current windows tool could be converted into a web application that provides the same functionality that the windows application offers. a tool that could be utilized inside an ASP.Net web application that would allow the user to receive a fax and split it like KODAK does? This application needs to be built in-house because of the custom needs of our customers. Something imbedded in the ASP.Net application would work for us.

Is there a way to add/delete/update the default classes (for instance AspNet-Menu-WithChildren,AspNet-Menu-NonLink ) of the html generated by the asp.net menu or treeview control? I am using CSSAdapters so the menu control renders in a list format instead of table format.
I am trying to style the menu control to allow the menu items to float to the right of the container, however I am unable to do so as whenever I am styling the a, ul or li it keeps getting overidded by asp.net and floats everything left.
What I want is to show menu items Administrator or show user menu items.Show menu items using login...How I can do it with role provider, control menu and siteMap in masterpage?
We have to develop an application which has a Vertical left pane menu control which displays all the web pages (A,B,C say). Now if user is in page A and filled some data and clicks on menu control to go to page B, all the data in page A needs to be saved. Also if all the required field in page A are not filled and user navigated to page B, there will be one ! sign after the menu so that user can understand that there some some more fields need to be filled up.
We are planning to place the menu control in the Mater page. Please give me some direction to do this. My question is:
1. If user change menu (In Master Page), how should we save data?
2. How should we display the ! in the menu control?
I am attempting to pass a small xml doc as a string to an affiliate's classic asp page. Here is how I am doing it:
[Code]....
However, when they receive this info the spaces are stripped out of the xml tag causing it to not parse and be invalid. Here is what it looks like when it arrives:
I'm not entirely sure how to explain this, but basically I am trying to use a Silverlight application hosted within an ASP.NET MVC application. I have a basic controller on the MVC side that contains a method which accepts some string parameter and returns an ActionResult (for the purpose of this program, that result is some Json data).
My problem arises when I handle the WebClient.OpenReadCompleted event within the Silverlight control. When the WebClient.OpenReadAsync method is called within this control, it successfully reaches the controller and then reports back to the relevant event handler as expected. However, when it is handled, the event arguments contain an error stating: "The remote server returned an error: NotFound.".
Previously, I have noticed this is caused when some part of my communication URL is incorrect - in this case it is not. From some Googling, I have also noticed that this is a generic error. As such, I'm rather stumped. To make matters more confusing, I use this exact same communication attempt in another part of the program, that retrieves an array of strings, and that works perfectly fine.
see the example code below (due to the nature of this program, I am unable to post the full code).
Silverlight Control WebClient mClient = new WebClient(); public void RequestData() { mClient.OpenReadAsync(new Uri("http://localhost:51234/Home/GetData")); mClient.OpenReadCompleted += new OpenReadCompletedEventHandler(mClient_OpenReadCompleted); } private void mClient_OpenReadCompleted(object sender, OpenReadCompletedEventArgs e) { if(!e.Cancelled && e.Error == null) // <-- e.Error here is a WebException { var serializer = new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(Data)); Data data = (Data)serializer.ReadObject(e.Result); } }
MVC Controller - named HomeController and accessed with "Home"
public ActionResult GetData() { return Json(new Data(), JsonRequestBehaviour.AllowGet); }
Note Here, Data contains three members of types; string, string and byte array. For the purpose of serialization, I have exposed all three members through public properties containing both get and set parts. I have also added a public constructor taking no arguments.
UPDATE
I've just tried the same bit of code with different data, and it works fine. I wondered if it was the size of the data (as the first attempt was with very large data), but I don't understand why that would matter if the call managed to hit the controller.
