Web Forms :: Inline Expression Or Binding Expression In The Server Head Section?

Aug 25, 2010

I write inline expression and binding expression in the server head section:

[Code]....

[Code]....

But both kinds of expression aren't parsed or executed except the ResovleUrl menthod. The html renders like this:

<head><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%= Request.ApplicationPath %>themes/style1.css" /><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%# Request.ApplicationPath %>themes/style2.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/themes/style3.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="/js/jwork.js"></script>
</head>

As I know, the inline expression in the attributes of server control can't be parsed but the binding expression should if we invoke the DataBind method. But the above case breaks the rule.

Forms Data Controls :: Not Seeing SelectedValue For ListBox In UserControl?

Apr 25, 2010

Using VB.Net/Asp.Net 2008, web app with Master page.I have a content page where all of the content is wrapped in an UpdatePanel that uses a UserControl called GetEmployee.ascx that I created.

In the user control I have a listbox filled with employeeIDs for the DataValueField, in fact for testing to make sure I'm getting the ID I temporarily set the DataTextField to employeeID also. Anyways I keep getting "" error saying I have not selected anything even when I do so I put a breakpoint and set a watch to find out selectedIndex, value and item and nothing.

after the user selects an employee they should click on the "select employee" button so I have some code there to find out which employee was selected. I have events setup in the GetEmployee.ascx user control to get the value selected:

[Code]....

and I have a breakpoint and it hits the "selectedIndexChanged" event first so I put a watch there and see the following.

<WatchValues>
SelectedIndex = -1
SelectedItem = Nothing
SelectedValue = ""
</WatchValues>

why am I not seeing the selected value?

VS 2010 - SelectedValue Of ListBox Always Null

Sep 29, 2011

I got this in my page:

Code:
<asp:ListBox runat="server" ID="lstCategories" SelectionMode="Single"></asp:ListBox>

I populate it in my code-behind correctly, and when I look at the generated source it's:

Code:
<option value="1">aaaa</option>
<option value="2">bbbb</option>

However, in my button click event, when I check waht is the selected item's value (lstCategories.SelectedItem.Value, also lstCategories.SelectedValue) I find that the selected item is always null.

the user can only select one item in the list for what it matters. (SelectionMode = Single)

Databases :: Syntax Error (missing Operator) In Query Expression?

Mar 8, 2010

I have a Excel user application which has a user form (named 'Registo') that displays criteria and an image that has been entered in it's corresponding spreadsheet. This works the way it should. There's also the ability to search the spreadsheet via a form (by clicking 'Pesquisar' button) this opens a search form. However, I having a bit of a problem with it. When I try to search for something it basically doesn't do anything at all. It just sits there. So I tried to debug it and I think I'm having a problem with either the JET db engine or somethign with teh query or maybe I don't have the correct reference.

Web Forms :: Inline Bind Hiddenfield Or Textbox Field

Dec 17, 2010

I have been at this for two weeks now without any success but I know I have to get a solution to move forward with my design. Is there any way to bind data from a SQLDataSource to a Hiddenfield or Textbox WITHOUT binding via the data controls like gridview, formview, datalist, etc. I do not want to use any of those controls. I need to do inline binding. Please provide the working code example. The hiddenfield or textbox would be named eid. The SQLDataSource name is GetDataEid. Again, if you reply and you submit code I can try please provide the full working solution. These do not work. They have already been attempted:

<asp:HiddenField ID="HiddenField1" runat="server" Value="<%#Container.DataItem("FieldName") %>" />
<input type="hidden" id="hdnId" name="hdnId" runat="server" />

and write the following code in your page load method

hdnId.Value=yourDbValue.ToString();
asp:HiddenField ID="hid" runat="server" Value='<%#Eval("column name") %>' />

Databinding - Why Binding Expression Shows Nothing

I'm just testing a simple databind expression with:

<div>
Now: <%# DateTime.Now.ToString()%>

According to MSDN:

literal text <%# data-binding expression %>

should work.

When I compile, it's OK but I got a blank instead of Now DateTime.
