'm looking for an ASP .net discussion forum widget:I have read somehwere that the ASP .net forum implementation is avialable, but haven't been able to find it :-(.I have found yet another forum, but is GPL licensed, that means... not usable for a commercial product without publishing the source code.JitBits looks good, di you have any experience with this product?On the other hand my client is VB .net based, all the forums implementations I have found are C# based, will that mean that I have to create a subsite?

I want to rate the product how can i check that how many users rated the product on that basis i want to show the rating.Many users view the product but they dnt date , i only want those users count who rated the product. My application is a website. I calculated the no og view of a product and of website. but want to maintain the no of users rated ?

I had been using Visual studio 2010 beta 1. When I open it now, I get a notice that I have to register to continue to use it. So I click the button that says 'register now'. I fill out the form (name, email, etc.), but instead of giving my registration code, the system opens up [URL]. How do I get my registration code?

I use a commercial web application that has the ability to use web triggers in order to do additional validation prior to saving its forms. The commercial web application simply makes a request out to whatever asp, php, etc. code that you've written... and in the case of asp.net I've validated forms by pulling variables off of the page.request object and then passed back a success/fail message to the commercial app using JSON.
I would like to use asp.net to display a modal popup control when called, in order to display some options. Because I would be triggering this code from a commercial web app, I'm wondering how I can display the popup control on top of the requesting page? The code I've currently written displays a blank page with my popup control on it. Is it possible for me to display ONLY the popup control when called from another website?

I recently came aware of some knowledge I was not aware of before. One of my friends said that publishing a website with the code behind is a security risk. Instead, he insisted I only publish with the DLL's to prevent hackers from altering your code. Is this true? What are the advantages and disadvantages for doing this?

I published my website on my local IIS and after a while felt like making some changes in it.
When i opened my website in visual studio i noticed there were no Page Code files (aspx.cs files) and not even my App_Code folder where i wrote custom code files.
How may i correct it.

I'm developing a Asp.Net website that will be used for a lot users. Would you recomend the use of Ajax Control Toolkit on these kind of website?I'm trying to imagine the worse scenario. and obviously the above html/xhtml is not W3C compliance, it always compplians disabled is not a valid attribute. I am pretty sure there are heaps of ppl who would like to develop w3c complianced web application suffer this issue.I was searching on internet without any luck, could someone in here shed me a light or Will Microsoft do sth about it in the near future.

I am creating a web application that allows a user to download a csv file of a gridview. However, after looking at tutorials online such as http://www.aspsnippets.com/Articles/Export-GridView-To-Word-Excel-PDF-CSV-Formats-in-ASP.Net.aspxand such, I successfully got the table I wanted but there are HTML content appended to the table as well.There was also a similar problem being brought up on the forum,http://forums.asp.net/p/1528174/3692826.aspx. The solutions didn't help me much though. However, I am not really sure how Handlers can benefit this. Furthermore, I don't want the user to be navigated to a blank page just to download the csv file. I tried to debug and insert removal code to remove the html code before the response object is being wrote out but seems even at the end of the writing method, the response object seems to be holding just the table content only.

This will be my first time trying to upload a ASP.NET site. I would like to upload my site by simply using ftp and transferring the contents of the project directory so that the site will be easy for me to make future updates. Where can I find directions for uploading a ASP.NET site via ftp? I am assuming that I will need to edit the connection string in the web.config file. However, my hosting company told me to just make a full backup of of the database into .BAK file format and upload it via FTP to your the "private" folder. Anyone have any experience with something like this and can tell me how this would affect the connection string? Can I back up the database to a .BAK file from within Visual Studio 2008 or do I have to use Management Studio? I am using Visual Studio 2008 with ASP.NET 3.5, C#, and SQL Server 2008 Express Edition.
