I'm working on a web application that stores some Office document (and any other kind of doc) on a remote shared area. I need to allow user to view the files available on shared area using my web application, how can I do that? Some years ago I solved this issue with Java / JSP opening into an output streaming the file, how can I do the same with ASP.NET and VB.NET? there is another way to solve my issue?
This is how I organized my application:
C:Webapp -> Webapplication emoteserversharedfolder -> shared area
The owner of IIS process is the only user that can write / read the shared area.
I want to open pdf file in new window, but my pdf file is stored in database as image datatype. How will i open this pdf file in new window on clicking of button?

Web service is the only to access another application.Now, I want to delete the file using the same web service where I stored that file in the another database.I m getting exception and I m unable to figure it out.
There are bunch of files stored in a DataBase as varbinary/image data. I am writing a program to extract these file data and send them to the browser so file can be opened or saved. My method is,
[code]....
BUT this method creates a file in the Server and then transmit to the browser. Means 100s of files will be created in the server when I open 100s of files with this process, naturally I want to avoid that.
Is it possible to do this without creating a copy of the file in the server ?
In the webMatrix examples, which I have working, it's very easy to access a database. Only three lines are necessary to get up and going:
@{ var db = Database.Open("LOS"); var selectQueryString = "SELECT * FROM wknTest"; }
and a little later,
@foreach(var row in db.Query(selectQueryString)){
There's no using's, no connection strings, all that happens behind the scenes. But now I have enough complicated c# code that I want to separate it into a separate C# file. How would I do the above, but in a C# file residing in the app_code folder in a webMatrix project?

WebMatrix must be creating the Database object behind the scenes.

Currently if the field is empty it will leave a space there which my goal is if the field is empty do not leave a white space instead move the other colunms up.

I usually use WebMatrix to manage my database (sdf file). I wonder if it can be possible to manage this database with SQL Management Studio 2008? When I try to open it with SQL Management Studio 2008 I get the error:
Incompatible database version. What's wrong?
BUT When I create a new sdf database with SQL Management Studio 2008, I have no problem for open it again with SQL Management Studio 2008 but if I try to open it with WebMatrix it doesn't work...(server not found?)
if (Request.QueryString["vid"] != null) { frmViedo.DataSource = video.GetVideoById(Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString["vid"])); frmViedo.DataBind(); } public OleDbDataReader GetVideoById(int id) { string strSelect = "select * from Video where VID = @VID"; return ExecuteReader(CommandType.Text, strSelect, new OleDbParameter[]{ new OleDbParameter("@VID" , id), }); }

Adobe Flash is disabled for this page, click player area to enable. Why?
I need to be able to click on a button and have it open a word document help file that is stored on the LAN (e.g. \serverfilepath.doc). The word doc can be opened in Word or in the browser, which ever is easier. What's the easiest way to do this?Opening a PDF is even easier, I'm open to that option as well. I'm running Visual Studio 2008 with VB codebehind.
I am pulling word documents that have been stored in our db as blobs and presenting them to the user. As you can see below, I am writing to the http stream via BinaryWrite. This is causing the Microsoft Word application to open in a separate window. My goal was to open the word document inside of the browser instead. Preferably inside of an iframe within the browser. Is there a way to target an iframe by some analog of the method below?
