I have a user control inside a repeater. I am binding a collection of objects to the repeater.
My user control has a public property to retrieve the object (setobject)
How do i pass each object through to the user control and not just the object property value? What is the syntax to do this?

I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control

can you please help me to brainstorm the possible causes of this error. I've got a paged repeater with localisation bound programitcally to an sqldatasource using a stored proc. I can post code if needs be but it's rather long. I'm looking for typical causes of this error + will make note for future reference!

I have a button on a page with a Repeater and an ObjectDataSource. To give credit where credit is due, the Repeater's paging functionality is courtesy of ScottGu. (However, I'm using ASP.NET 4.0 and SQL Server 2008, as opposed to ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005.)
Anyway, in the button's click event, I need to access the Text property of a Label that's inside the Repeater because it's used as an input parameter in a stored procedure. I'm getting a NullReferenceException when trying to access the Label's Text property. I have researched this error and have tried a few different solutions (involving FindControl and the Repeater's ItemDataBound event), but I haven't been able to get it to work. The code is below.

When I place the repeater inside a user control INSIDE ANOTHER user control and onto the page this works - the property is correctly set, if I inspect it inside the EnsureChildControls() method of the custom control the composite control's Value propertyis set to Eval("value") as intended.

I would like to change a background color of the item's <div> when user checks the chechbox. I have an event handler for CheckedChange event but I don't know how can I get access to this div from the event handler.
In my project, I need to create a user control to handle the sorting and pagination of all the grids in the application. The grid however will be different in different pages with different formatting.
I am able to do this by exposing a property from user control which takes gridview as the input.
then in page load, i bind this grid, and assign the sorting and paging event handlers to this gridview variable.
This way I am able to do the sorting and paging, but the problem is I have to bind the grid in all the post backs, and then in the sorting and paging events.
So when a user sorts, I have to bind the grid twice, once in page_load and then in sort event of user control.
I can store the first set of records in viewstate and bind that in page load, but is there any other way, so that i dont need to bind the grid in all post backs but only inside of not postback.

View 3 RepliesI have a user control that displays a shopping cart in an ecommerce application.
The main cart display is a repeater that renders as a html table. In one of those table columns, there is another repeater to display people associated with the products int he cart (it's a repeater in case there is a line item >1 with multiple people).
I've added an ImageButton that I want to use to change the person associated with the item. At first, when I'd click on it I was getting this error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.
So as an experiment I disabled EventValidation on the page (not the control it's self) and now I do not get an error, but I also do not ever hit the breakpoint I set in the innermost repeater's ItemCommand event.
So I wonder how I might do this without disabling EventValidation, because this control will show up on multiple pages and we don't want to edit them all. Also, I'll need to know not only the repeater containing the control's row that the event came from but also the row index of the repeater containg this one. Is this possible?

Not so sure what to do about all of this. I have developed a simple calendar using an XML doc and a repeater. The parent repeater contains a child repeater that lists events based on the date. I have a User Control that has some unique capablities for control the date in a link button. I want the user to click on the User Control and be able to use the information to do something. There is one employee, so the first two accordions is working fine from toggle up and toggle down
SCENARION 2:
There are 3 employees, for the first employee the first two accordions is working, but the rest are not.
So the problem here is when I click the accordion of second employee it does not toggle down but the first employee's accordion is going down.
What I want here is each employee can toggle down and toggle up their own accordions, even though that accordion don't have data.
what changed do I need to make to my code for it to achieve what I'm after.
At the moment I am getting a "cannot cast to type" error message with the below code.
I have also tried calling the ItemDataBound method in with the parent repeater tags and had no errors but when I clicked on the button it would just move back to the top of the page and would not hide or show any data. Also I have made the div style to none but the first record still shows its child but the rest don't.
