Web Forms :: Populate A Lable Field With A Button Event?

I'm currently learning more about C#.Net via video tutorials (I'm a visual/hands on learner) and I'm learning more about Console.WriteLine functions.
What I want to do is take this code (see below) wich is a bunch of console writelines and make it so that each time the button on my page is clicked the lable field is populated with a new random number.
I understand how to use the lable field with static data (Label1.Text="") but I just can't figure out how to get the method that I want to execute into that label upon a button click.
It is somewhat difficult to explain what I am trying to do. but, essentially I just want a lable saying "Random Number Function" then a button that says "Generate Random Number" and a non-labeled lable that will populate a random number upon clicking the button. With a little help, I can get this and then I'll be able to create all the rest of my console.writeline functions into my asp page for later reference :D
And I do appologize if this is in the wrong section. I am very green to this. I've only take a half semester of C#.Net and half of Java. My Asp.Net and Visual C#.Net are self taught. And, I often hit walls with using google for what I'm after, probably due to my lack of termonology knowledge.

I've created a databound gridview inside the gridview's RowDataBound I use the RowSpan property to merge cells. The grid ends up looking like this for example....

The button is generated using a Template Field and is a standard ASP:Button. If I click a button in an unmerged row everything works as expected. If I click a button in a merged row...the sender object on the command comes back as null and no matter what I try I can't seem to fix it or get a reference to the button.

for example returns and empty string.

In my current web application I have a listbox containing large number of elements. I have used an ajax listsearchextender to help the users in selecting the elements. I have set the autopostback property of listbox true. The application is working fine as expected in internet explorer. But in firefox while I am typing some text in search lable of listsearchextender the selectedIndexChanged event is fired and the page is posted back. So I am not able to selected the item properly using list search extender control. Can you please suggest me how can I stop the selectedIndexChanged event.

populating the dropdownlist with column name. I have a gridview that has 7 columns . I want to have a textbox search and dropdownfield where user can select column name and type a word in search box and click search so that text for that column name is being search and displayed in grid. how I can fetch just column names from DB and search ?

I would like the user to select an item from a drop down list. Next to the drop down is a textbox or label control. From the ddl selection I would like to populate the textbox or label from a database with a corresponding field from the database the dropdownlist was populated from. On selectindexchange event I can populate the textbox with the Unique id from the value, but I need to input a different field into the textbox. Can I use some sort of variable to assign the Textbox.Text = ?

I have an email contact form that I have successfully populated the account users Username and email address into text boxes
I also use a text box and session variables to send parameters to a stored procedure and return a single row result in a form view.
The thing I am having an incredibly hard time figuring out is how to populate a single textbox with the data from any of those fields. or the whole control as a single summary.
Just for starters I am actually an IT Manager and NOT a coder so this is entirely a hack job if there ever was one...

I have a gridview that had a field called "GenericNameHepDrug" within the row. It's not the key field. I have an insert button that opens a formview in insertmode. How can I get the selected value of generichepdrug into the formview that opens when the button is clicked? I am using VB.NET 2.0.

I have a listview that has been constructed using tables. I have set the DataKeyNames="SomeTextField" among others. This column is currently not visible in the ListView.
I'd like to populate a textbox on the click of any listview record with the contents "SomeTextField" column.

Im looking for some advice on how todo the following, I want to have data that is shown underneath eachother eg
Name: this
Type: is
Action: data
But when its clicked I would like the text after : to dissapear and a textbox to take its place <so that I can change the data there and then> but im unsure how to sort out the positioning etc so that it appears in the same place as the text.

I have a search page. Based on the user that is logged in, a link will display if they have saved any previous search criteria. If you have any, the link will open a modalpopup with a list of all your saved searches. I have it setup so when you select the search you want to perform, it will take those values and populate the search form for you. What i would like to do is if you select something from the list, after the fields are populated(which is already working) i would like that searches button event to be executed so the search values are passed in and the results are shown instead of having them press the search button again.
I tried adding this to my select event but thats not correct i know.. so is it possible to execute another buttons event?

I have site where I am listing used equipment. I have a gridview that I have a image field and a template field. In the template field I have the equipment information listed via lables. I also have two link buttons for click for more details and add item to queue. What I am trying to do is when a user clicks on either link button I want to redirect the user to the equipdetails.aspx page based on the EquipID. The problem is that I am getting an errorObject reference not set to an instance of an object. I know that this error is due to the value being nothing. So I need to know how to get the specific row so I can get the correct EquipID. Here is the gridview code and codebehind.

i am currently developing an asp.net project. there is a previous, next, and cancel button that the user can utilize, but the problem is that everything is broken into controls so that if they hit the browser's back button it will reset everything and take them to the very beginning. i would like to capture the onbeforeunload event and trigger the previous button click event (i.e. treating navigation like clicking the previous button).

I have a textbox with autopostback=true and a button to save the data in the form. Functionality works fine when entering a value in the textbox, tabbing out of the textbox and clicking on the save button. But issue comes up when entering a value in the textbox and directly clicking on the save button without tabbing out of the text box. In the second scenario, only textchanged event fires and save click event dosen't fire. What I was expecting was after exection of textchanged event, save click event should also fire. But this is not happening.

I have one Button (Refresh Button), One ComboBox (containing DEV and UAT as its items) and a GridView on my asp page.
I am filling up my Grid with values from database on the ComboBox's 'TextChanged' event and Buttons's 'Click' event.
First time when page is loaded, there is no information in the grid, but when i choose DEV/UAT from the ComboBox 'TextChanged' event is fired, the grid is filled with the relevant data. That is what i want.
When i click the Refresh Button to refresh the data again, first comboBox's 'TextChanged' event and then 'btn_Click' event is fired.
I want then when a button id pressed only 'Click' event to be fired and not the ComboBox's 'TextChanged' event.

I have a gridview and a lable on a page...
In the gridview I have a column called "% of Points" and another column called "total of pot". Outside of the gridview I have a label called (label Total) and it has a total amount of £6335.
The idea is that as each gridview row is created, it will check the amount in the label and based on the % amount in the % of points, it will work out the total of the pot (£6335) each row has. So for example, paul would have £1583.75 in his total of pot (25% of £6335 = £1583.75)
Anyone know how I should go about doing this? I presume I'd need to do a find control for the label, but not sure where to go from there.
