Dec 17, 2010I have built a dataset named Transaction_Time.I called it on Page_Load
Transaction_Time tranTme = new Transaction_Time();
put it in the session.
Session["Transaction"] = tranTme;
Then I call that session and cast to dataset.
DataSet dstTranTime = (DataSet)Session["Transaction"];
I got the following error.Unable to cast object of type 'Transaction_Time' to type 'System.Data.DataSet'.

It generate the following error before showing the update page correctly. It seems I have issue to retrieve the null value from the database through using objectdatasource through dataset. Apr 21, 2010I have a few applications/websites running with LINQ to SQL and the other day I decided to go ahead and optimize some of the queries, etc and I found that the size for variable length data types is derived from the parameter value instead of the column actual size? for example a column is defined as nvarchar(30). when I use linq to query that column with a value that's 5 characters long the parameter in sp_executesql will be defined as nvarchar(5)...this causes a major procedure cache bloat even for a small utility site that has a lot of queries is there a way to optimize this?

Aug 8, 2010I'm going to design a database for an image gallery in ASP.NET Web App . Because of some reasons I've decided to store the image in Data Base , Not the address .
In the application i need two or more different size and weight image for each image that the admin insert .For instance , One of them is small and lightweight thumbnail , and the other is Original big one .
My question is : Should i have two column ( one for lightweight and small thumbnail and one for big and full size one ) in DataBase Or Is there any way i could load different size and wight image from Big and original image column ?

Jul 7, 2010Trying to explain this clearly. I have a dropdown listbox where user can select multiple names. These names are then selected/inserted into db table in a loop. Table is displayed in an editable gridview. I have a main sqldatasource1 on my aspx page with select/insert/update permissions, but because select command doesnt work with parameters of multiple values (or does it?), i resorted to using an alternative sql datasource in the codebehind in order to run the select query on the multiple values chosen from the dropdownlist to see if they were in my table.I now get this error when I go to select multiple names from the dropdown list

The column "To" and column "Subject" are strings and column "Receive" is DateTime. I can't made any changes in the database, so I need to write some code to handle casting a string to datetime or if statement as a work around.

Sep 7, 2010I have a main page with several menu choices, one of which launches an ajax enabled window. The following pattern occurs:If I:
1) Launch site
2) Select menu choice listed on master page that is not ajax enabled
3) Select menu choice that launches ajax enabled popup.
4) close pages
All is OK.If I repeat the steps, but in step 2 I select an ajax enabled page and them launch popup, I get the following error:Message: Sys.ArgumentTypeException: Object of type 'Sys.UI._Timer' cannot be converted to type 'Sys.UI._Timer'.I have spent days on this and have been unable to solve it. If I remove the ajax ToolkitScriptManager and update panels from any of the pages and launch the popup, it works. Can anyone offer some guidance?that are not ajax enabled and then selethat includes an ajax enabled popup window. T

Mar 21, 2011I have created a WCF Rest API Service using wcf rest starter kit preview 2 which automatically return JSON or XML data depending on the requested content type. everything is working fine but as my service methods return multiple data type some methods returns a object of a class or collection of class, bool, int or collection type. so I planed to return a same Response in all methods for this I Create a new class as following:
