Size For Variable Length Data Type Derived From Parameter Value?
Apr 21, 2010
I have a few applications/websites running with LINQ to SQL and the other day I decided to go ahead and optimize some of the queries, etc and I found that the size for variable length data types is derived from the parameter value instead of the column actual size? for example a column is defined as nvarchar(30). when I use linq to query that column with a value that's 5 characters long the parameter in sp_executesql will be defined as nvarchar(5)...this causes a major procedure cache bloat even for a small utility site that has a lot of queries is there a way to optimize this?
There are dynamic values on x axis which can range from 1-100. I need to increase the size of X-Axis when the range is high, so as to display the data properly.
my textbox and gridview is in a updatepanel (ajax) .
i want to update gridview when textbox length equal some number
for exmple (textbox.length==3)
how can i know text box length when user is typing ?(before leave textbox) ------------- more :: whit javascript we can know textbox length but how can update gridview in javascript (I thing we should use gridview1.databind())
I am exporting a HTML table to excel by sending the data as a HTML Table string and setting the content headers:
[code]....
Is there a simple way of setting the content-length based on the size of the HTML string? Or should I just leave it blank anyway...would be nice to have the content-length ideally...
If there's a 0 in the field the code inserts a null. Otherwise it inserts a date. How can I change this to insert a NULL if a question mark "?" appears in the column?
This is what I tied using the OR operator but it's not working:
I'm going to design a database for an image gallery in ASP.NET Web App . Because of some reasons I've decided to store the image in Data Base , Not the address .
In the application i need two or more different size and weight image for each image that the admin insert .For instance , One of them is small and lightweight thumbnail , and the other is Original big one .
My question is : Should i have two column ( one for lightweight and small thumbnail and one for big and full size one ) in DataBase Or Is there any way i could load different size and wight image from Big and original image column ?
I seem to be having issues with posting forms with DropDownLists. I've looked all over the net and tried various solutions, but none seem to work for me.
I'm getting the following error: The parameter conversion from type 'System.String' to type 'Models.Organization' failed because no type converter can convert between these types.
Here's my ViewModel:
[Code]....
Here's my controller:
[Code]....
The objects are generated by ADO.NET Entity Framework. Organizations is its own object, but also a property of Profile (each user belongs to one organization). Now I understand what the error message is saying, just not sure how else I'm supposed to do this.
I need to let my users enter a variable length list of items into something that looks like a grid view (or a series of standard text boxes stacked vertically). Each item could be a few characters or a few hundred characters long, and I just want them to enter a "sentence", and then tab to the next row, and always having another blank one ready to go at the bottom of the list.
I don't want to save any data to my SQL Server DB until they enter the entire list and then click on a "save all" button. When they hit the "save all" button they will be given a preview screen where the data will be presented as standard HTML ordered list. If they confirm/save, then each row of the grid will then be saved as a separate row into my SQL Server database (with an index to remember the order). What ASP.Net (or Jquery/javascript) UI control would be the best to use in this situation? (i.e. just for the data entry part - the rest I got covered).
I have a Stored Proc which uses a field in the database. that ends up being the user.identity.name. So, when the page loads, it grabs that name and uses it in the stored proc, which I'm which I'm wanting to designate in the sql datasource. But it only gives me choices of querystring, cookie, session, control, etc. My question is how to reference that variable as the parameter in the datasource?
Now the above gives me error because the last parameter "outputMessage.FileByteStream.Length" returns a long type value but the method expects an integer type.
I would like to enquire about a seemingly basic problem that i am struggeling with. I have been trying to add information to an access database and as i am inserting this information I get the error message stating that I tried to assign the Null value to a variable that is not a Variant type. I was thinking that it could have something to do with the primary key being set to automatic number but this also does not seem the problem.
i am uploading a file through file upload control , file size has greater then 4 MB, I have to give the proper alert msg to the user that file size exceeding the limit.how to do it , because at server side it is crashed on the IIS and not return to the server to check the file size validation.that how it is possible to validate the file size and give the proper alert messege
Try Dim bytes As Byte() = New Byte() {} If Not fupload1.PostedFile Is Nothing Then Dim myfile As HttpPostedFile = Me.fupload1.PostedFile ' Get size of uploaded file
'here how to allocate bytes array variable already declared
My admin set innodb_buffer_pool_size=512M, innodb_log_file_size=128M, and innodb_log_buffer_size=1M although in mysql query show global variables its showing what the value is set. When i restart my system also its showing what we set the data.(It means we set log file buffer file size to max and its working fine.) but when i try to upload a file of 58 mb again its throwing error as The size of BLOB/TEXT data inserted in one transaction is greater than 10% of redo log size.
I've done some SSIS package work in the past, but am by no means an expert.
I want to use an SSIS package to do the following:
1. Get the file name of the newest file in a windows folder (using a filename template like his: filename_ *.txt where the * part is always a date in the format of yyyy-mm-dd.
2. Use that file name in later portions of the SSIS package by reading the file and transferring data from it to a SQL table using a Data Flow task.
and use the result (which should be the name of the newest file) to open that file and pull data out of it and into a 2nd SQL table. I admit, I'm not sure how to use the dynamic result of this SELECT query as the file name in a flat file connection manager.
I create a variable in code behind to save today's date.
[Code]....
And I want to save it as a parameter for an accessDataSource but I'm not finding anywhere that tells me how to do this properly. My attempts thus far have been
