Forms Data Controls :: Sort Functionality Not Working When Binding The Grid To A Collection Type Object?
Apr 1, 2011
My Grid is bound to a collection type datasource. When I try to sort the Columns in the Grid I get Javascript error saying sorting event not implemented. Why is the default inbuilt sort functionality not working which worked fine when I directly used a sqlDataSource using smart tag. Do I have to write some code to achieve sorting ?
i have an objectdatasource bound to the System.Web.Security.Roles getAllRoles methods, this method returns an string[] with the names of the roles, then i wanna bind a gridview with this datasource, but it shows me just a one column named length(the length of each role name), how can i instead the length of the string that represent the role name, put the role name?
I have this code that once a column in gridview is clicked, it sort the record. Can someon explain to me what does
static Int32 cntsortSecurityID = 0; // declare var to hold 0 or 1 // what is this, I dont understand why. what is the meaning of zero or One in this case . Oh yeas, the code is working for me, but I need to understand the concept behind it.
I have a GridView in ASP.Net 3.5. I added BoundFields as columns, set DataField and Header Text. Total I have 6 columns like that. Although I set "AllowSorting=True" in design view, when I run this page, all the columns didn't have hyper link that I can click on it and sort that particular column. I bind this column at code behind by using datatable. gv.DataSource = dtDispatch gv.DataBind()
I have a grid view with manual sorting. In some cells, the data are numeric and datetime. But due to some constrains, the data type on tables are varchar. The problem here is when I sorting those numeric data, it is treated as varchar.Eg: 1, 12, 13, 2, 23, 3, ...But I wanted the order to be: 1, 2, 3, 12, 13, 23, ...I have tried these method, but it doesnt works.
wondering if someone can possibly help me out with a gridview. I have data coming into a grid and I know how to filter the data using one dropdown, I'm trying to get a little more advanced now. I'd like to filter using three dropdowns.
This is what I have so far: I don't know how to hook the downlists to the query?
I have a custom object and a generic collection of this object. When databinding, how can you get a reference to the object's collection similar to how DataRow.Table works? I understand I may need to write code to handle this but I'm not sure where to start.I considered adding a property to my custom object class to store the collection in, but would this generate too much overhead setting this for every object in the collection?
I'm trying to pass email addresses from an array to a stored procedure, then display the results in my gridview. I get the following error:No mapping exists from object type System.String[] to a known managed provider native type.On this line: Dim DR As SqlDataReader = MyCommand.ExecuteReader
I'm a newbie to .NET, so the solution might be really trivial. I have a database, I have an Entity Data Model, I add in my Index.aspx page an EntitryDataSource and a GridView. I connect them and everything works fine (the data is displayed as expected). The problem is that clicking on the coulmn name or on the pagination lists doesnt do a thing... Although I did set the properties AllowSorting="True" and AllowPaging="True". I also tried with another datasource type (SqlDataSource) and the same problem.
I'm developing a bilingual web site, and therefore, I'm changing the text of the headings and the select buttons of my gridviews. I just discovered that if I set some code like below in the rowdatabound event of the gridview, the "linkbuttonish" headings get replaced by unclickable text. In another thread, I was told to change
If Session("lang") = "en" Then If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.Header Then e.Row.Cells("name").Text = "Given name"[cod]...
in the myGV_DataBound sub. This works well, but not everywhere. A few gridviews are populated from codebehind, and this is where things go wrong. What happens is that - nothing happens (it's still the original heading). I added a Watch, but once the HeaderText property changed, the Watch never yielded another result, but stayed with the new value.
Now I suspect that even though the HeaderText property has changed, this doesn't get reflected in the GV when populated from codebehind.
I guess that I should write something else than "e.Row.Cells("name").Text" to still have the click-behaviour, but I don't know what.
The same question arises for the select linkbutton in a cell of the gridview's datarows.
If the grid column is clicked to sort i dont want to retireve data agian, i can get it from viewstate, but i dont know if that triggered the post back or if the ImageButton on the page triggered it
am newbie to asp.net 3.0 ,req: is like ...whn user enters id in the textbox, the query has to run against the sql server DB and has to generate the result inside a gridview with a chkbox field by default chked, now in the DAL layer ,is it better option to use datareader(think not, since it has to always maintain connection)..or webservice or WCF or are there any other simple optios available??

i am developing a sharepoint webpart. In this webpart i need to use a repeater control. The problem is, i can only use codebehind for creating and using the control. So i have some questions:
1. After creating the repeater control in codebehind, how to create some templates (itemtemplate, footertemplate, etc.) and use it?
2. How to bind a object collection to a repeater control?
I have an gridview consisting pager Templet. In pager templet, add first, previous, next and last Buttons to control records. PageSize is 3. First I am binding first 3 records from the list (Consisting 9 records) to the GridView.
My question is:
<1> Is it possible to bind the next 3 records(record4, record5,record6) to GridView when click on next Button?
<2> Similally, Is it possible to bind records for other buttons?
I have a Listview control that DataBind programatically... ie I am NOT using SqlDataSource or such... I am attempting to sort a column... clicking on a link button that fires the "Sorting" event. So, after cliking on the column heading... I end up in this routine, where I hardcoded the .Sort = values (just for testing). The code is executed... but the RESULT show via Listview remains the SAME. No change!
How to fix this? I've seen some other posts examples that uses this event (ListView1_Sorting) and then sort via LINQ. I am not ready to try that...
Just want to know why dsPaymentList.Tables[0].DefaultView.Sort does not work?
