Currently I have the text file going to desktop, in ASP how can I prompt a file save dialog for the user? The result is string from the streamreader as "result" as follows:
StreamWriter FileWriter = new StreamWriter(Path.Combine(Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Desktop), "file.txt")); FileWriter.Write(result); FileWriter.Close();
i wish to have a dialog prompt out by ajax when user click on an image button. Currently i able to include a simple text field and get the user input like this:
if ((Request.QueryString["UbytovaniePrispevokID"].ToString()) == "")[code]......
What i want to do is.. I have one main page with new posts Each subject of the new post is the link to Another page where is Specific post and coments and user can leave a coment.
What I want is when the Request.QueryString["UbytovaniePrispevokID"].ToString()) == "" or null I want to redirect to error page ...
I'm trying to write code that will allow a user to click a button and be prompted to save an image file that resides on the web server. I'm using the following code, but I get an error that says "Error: Could not complete the operation due to error c00ce514.".
[Code]....
I have verified that the file exists. Is there another method for prompting users to save a file to their local machine?
I have two very similar pieces of ASP.NET code that send a file in an HTTP Reponse to the client. They should cause the browser to prompt to save the file. The first one works, the second one doesn't. The HTTP responses as seen in Fiddler are below.
Working: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Cache-Control: private Content-Length: 228108 Content-Type: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version: 4.0.30319 content-disposition: attachment; filename=Report.xlsx Date: Wed, 05 Jan 2011 12:17:48 GMT <binary data>
Not working: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: ASP.NET Development Server/10.0.0.0 Date: Wed, 05 Jan 2011 12:19:21 GMT X-AspNet-Version: 4.0.30319 Content-Length: 228080 content-disposition: attachment; filename=report 2.xlsx Cache-Control: private Content-Type: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet Connection: Close <binary data>
When the first one is seen in Fiddler the browser correctly prompts to save the file. When the second one is seen in Fiddler, nothing observable happens in the browser. Same behaviour in both chrome and firefox.
EDIT: ASP.NET code that produces the second response
I am building an application that allows a user to upload multiple images, resizes them, and saves them. What I need (ok, what I'd like) is the following...
I would like some sort of way to prompt a user to crop the photos after they have been saved. I have code that creates a 175px square rectangle and saves that image. I need the user to select the image section they want saved and to do so I envision a window that automatically prompts them to do so once the upload(s) have completed. I think my preference would be to have a page or control (datalist, repeater, ectc..) that refreshes every time an image is saved and allows the user to crop the newly saved images. I'm opened to advice, opinions, free drinks and a clue.
fileName is the name of the file ending with the file extension (.pgn). However, the file is saved as a .txt file, ignoring the extension that I am giving it. Would this have to do with the Response.Contenttype = "text/plain"? How can I get the Open/Save dialog to display and save the correct (.pgn) filename?
Also, if filename is a string separated by dashes or spaces, when the Open/Save dialog comes up, the filename is not displayed in its entirety but it is truncated where the first dash (-) or space (or comma) is encountered. How can this be remedied?
I am using asp.net and I need to display a prompt to the user if they have made changes to the web page, and they accidentally close down the browser.
The page could be anything from "Edit Profile" to a "Submit a Claim" etc.
How can I can display the messagebox, ensuring that it is displayed only if changes have been made (as opposed to, the user making changes, then undo-ing the changes, and shutting down the browser)
I want to redirect to "~/City/Göteborg", but if I just write Response.Redirect("~/City/Göteborg"); I will end up with an ugly URL in the address-bar like this: http://www.mysite.com/City/G%c3%b6teborg..
So my question is how to redirect to obtain a clean url like http://www.mysite.com/City/Göteborg?
I create a window dialog by calling window.showModalDialog;
In that dialog I want to execute a Response.TransmitFile like the code below. The code works fine from a non dialog window. However it just hangs if I call it from the modal dialog page. No error messages. I just doesn't do anything. Is there something else I need to do to get this to function in a dialog window?
string thePath = "c:\temp\New Text Document.txt"; Response.Clear(); Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"; Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + "New Text Document.txt"); Response.TransmitFile(thePath); Response.End();
i having a link button that will just download a file from server. but i want to have save as dialog box instead of default download box in my firefox just like as you right click on hyperlink and its appear to save downloaded file anywhere in local system.... can i make browser to appear that typical dialog for download or any work around this problem.
secondly i am writing these files dynamically from directories outside the app folder @ server side.
A friend of mine gave me this task so I can learn advance programming a little bit easier. I am currently doing convertion of an html page to pdf using itext sharp and email the pdf as an attachement. My idea is to save the pdf first to the server machine in the folder name ToBeEmailedPDF folder before using it as an email attachment. The thing that bothers me is that this dialog as what you can see in the picture shows up using the code that I have below.
Is it necessary to call Response.End() after Response.Redirect(url) Update for all the answers. Because some answers say that it's necessary and others say no, I have searched more and have found in msdn under remarks the following: Redirect calls End which raises a ThreadAbortException exception upon completion.
I recently upgraded a web app to ASP.NET 4.0 , but I have to downgrade it back to 2.0, because the Response.Redirect from another web app, which is in ASP.NET 2.0, did not work.
