Web Forms :: User Links From One Page To Another Using A Hyperlink, The Site Map Does Not Seem To Show The Actual Path?

Jun 5, 2010

The ASP.net 3.5 SiteMapPath Control shows the site map but not necessarily the path thru a site. If a user links from one page to another using a hyperlink, the Site Map does not seem to show the actual path, only the site Map. If this is incorrect, please let me know.If it is correct, do you know of another control that will show the actual path thru the site in a session?

Hyperlink Relative To Current URL Not Path Of User Control?

Aug 25, 2010

I have a page on my site, for purposes of this example lets say [URL]. On Default.aspx I have a user control called MyControl.ascx which lives in /Controls/MyControl.ascx. So the tree looks something like this

[code]...

Whenever I place a HyperLink control on MyControl.ascx and specify a NavigateUrl, this path is relative to the control, not the URL of the page. So for instance if in NavigateUrl I specified "AboutMe.aspx", the URL would be rendered as [URL] instead of [URL]. Is there any way I can make this relative to the page URL? I've tried the solution here: [URL] but it didn't work for me.

Edit

To clarify, I'd like this to be generic enough so that if I didn't know what the path was the solution would work. So I don't really want to harcode "~/Pages/Default.aspx" in the NavigateUrl

Re-write A String And Convert Http Text Into Actual Web Links?

Nov 27, 2010

In my code below, I'm trying to re-write a string and convert and http text into actual web links.

It doesn't seem to be working and I think the problem may be that I'm rewriting the string and inserting another http string into the original string which then causes problems with the loop.

Web Forms :: Put A Breadcrumb On The Site That Allows The User To Walk Back Up The Path They Used To Get Down

May 13, 2010

We have a site that allows a user to drill down through a list. The drill down works by the page calling itself with a different query string. From any level they can choose to go to a different page dealing with the subject matter for that level. All of that works great. However, we would like to put a breadcrumb on the site that allows the user to walk back up the path they used to get down.

Most of the breadcrumbs I have seen do not save the query string. Also, many use some kind of external data provider (database or XML) to build the site map. I am not sure how that would work with the recursive page calls. I don't mind looking at products or coding it myself. I have actualy built something, but it is quirky when people use the browser back button.

Javascript - Display Actual File Size Next To A Hyperlink Of A Document Or Download?

Jan 7, 2011

I've always been required show download size next to the file hyperlink. Only the file in question is rebuilt everyday and the file size can change often. So needless to say the size has been wrong for months. I'm not going to update our site daily to display needless info.

instead of

<a href="file.xxx">click here to download (20mb)</a>

I'd prefer

<a href="file.xxx">click here to download [sizeof('file.xxx')]</a>

The best solution would be javascript based or similar.

Web Forms :: Hyperlink To Direct User To Certain Page At Time Of Day?

Apr 9, 2010

Got this question, probably simple to most people but I only just started using visual studio 2008 with c#

Create a 'contact us' web page (form) for your photocopier repair company that links dynamically depending on the current time. The linked pages should give details of support engineer contacts for different regions, during normal working hours and when the offices are closed.

You should use the HyperLink control to link to different pages (depending on the time of day.) At or after 5:00 p.m., the HyperLink control links to a page named AfterHoursHelp.aspx and before 5:00 p.m., it links to OfficeHoursHelp.aspx.

and the reason is that it won't just directly input that string into the address bar, but instead the path it tries to access begins at the root of my application. In other words, the resulting URL comes out like: [URL] I simply need the browser to directly access: \marsIntranetUploadspdf estpdf1.pdf

Forms Data Controls :: Show Links In Gridview / Open In New Window?

Jun 16, 2010

I have a list of links displayed in a gridview that, when clicked, open in a new window. I used OnClientClick = "form1.target = '_blank';" to achieve this. I also need to let the users delete links. Problem is, when I click the delete button it calls the OnClientClick event even though it isn't in the delete tag. This only happens if I click delete after I have clicked on a link. The result is that the link I am trying to delete opens up in a new window and is not deleted.
