Web Forms :: Want To Create A Blog Type Of Web Application - Unable To Rewrite Url's?
Jan 28, 2010
I am just planning to create a blog type of web application. But i am not understanding how do i rewrite url's? say suppose site is xyz.com then when some user registers with name of T then he can visit blog at T.xyz.com? As you can see the url's will keep on changing dynamically.
I don't want to keep creating sub domains for each new user joined on the site. How can i achieve this?
I need to create a simple blog feature for my website. I have created a form that writes to an XML File, i now need to be able to display this file in a blog style, and possible add comments.
I have an existing asp.net 4.0 web application and want to add a blog to it. I would like to create a new sub-directory and call it "blog". Is there some well suited blogs for this purpose?
I'm want to make a BLOG site and that should be fully Dyanmic.Means from Questions to answers all should be fully Dyanmic but need admin approval to post.can you share some links where i can get more about this.
I have created a blog application with ASP.NET MVC and MSSQL. I must say, i really enjoyed the process of creating an application with ASP.NET MVC. Clean URLS(with URL routing), No view States and so on.
BUT i was wondering how would this would have been done if i choose web-form style coding? will the aspx would be created in the fly as i create a article.(take this url for ex: [URL]) though the URL is not clean but still makes sense. if yes then what about its corresponding cs file? if no how is the URL so clean?
Is there a way to create a blog using asp.net 3.5 in Microsoft Visual Web developer 2008 or 2010? Also, how do I make commenting, replying and posting only available to the user of my website?
I have created a virtual directory in IIS(7.0) to create web application using visual studio 2010 ultimate edition. But when i open the Browse option in visual studio to create http hosted website , it vs2010 keeps on teling me that i need to have IIS Component installed. below is the eror message;
To access local IIS websites, you must install the follwoing IIS components
You must run Visual studio in the context of an administrator account. For more information, press F1
NB:i have installed the IIS 7.0 and its running fine
I have an application where I rewrite some URLs for a masking effect. If I run the application through VS, it works fine. However, when I try to run it through a virtual application, it says:
Could not load file or assembly 'MoonFlareStudiosLibrary.UrlRedirection' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
MoonFlareStudiosLibrary.UrlRedirection is the code namespace that handles all my url redirection and rewriting.
When I say "run it through a virtual application" I mean I use IIS7 to create a virtual application in my wwwroot folder so I can just type "localhost/<app name>" to run it.
hy it work when debugging but not through the virtual application?
Basically, what I did is that: I have a table in SQL database and some of data fields allow null. I built Objectdatasource through dataset. When I built update page using dataset. It generate the following error before showing the update page correctly. It seems I have issue to retrieve the null value from the database through using objectdatasource through dataset. Any suggestions? An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code

Above is my code. The error I'm get is, Unable to cast object of type 'System.DateTime' to type 'System.String'.
The column "To" and column "Subject" are strings and column "Receive" is DateTime. I can't made any changes in the database, so I need to write some code to handle casting a string to datetime or if statement as a work around.
