what would happen if I pass an "Open" SQCConnection object to another function ? I open and Close the connection in my calling function. But would the copy of the object that I passed onto the other function remain Open ?
ie :

Dim sqlCon as New SQlConnection .....
sqlConn.Open()
CallFunction(sqlCon)
sqlConn.Close()

I am using one DLL file of Active Socket Object 3.5 and it has one function writeAsUnicode which take String as parameter. But I need to pass binary value. In ASP, it can be done but in asp.net it becomes problem. So is there any other way to solve it.

I'm using a CustomValidator control to validate some controls in a GridView. I have the validation working perfectly on the client and the server, but would ideally like to pass the GridView ID into the client function so I can move it out into a separate
.js file. The signature for my client function is:

And my CustomValidator control looks like:

I have a function that gets the position of a control.

All the function needs is an htmlcontrol being fed to it as the parameter (elemRef). I can declare a variable in Javascript of the same content page but different function and pass the parameter successfullly getting returned values. For example, if I have the following function:
function (getPosition)
{ var txtBox1 = document.getElemendById('<%=txtBox1.ClientID %>');
getPos(txtBox1);
}
I will get the coordinates of the control txtBox1. But how can I accomplish this if I am calling this function from a javascript function or codebehind of the Master Page, or codebehind of the same content Page.

I have a label "lbl1" that I am trying to locate in a content page from the Master page. I want to do it dynamically so I am trying to pass the name of the control (which in this case is lbl1) through as a parameter. I don't get an error, it just doesn't work. If I do an alert to see what the string "temp" looks like, it is correct, but iit seems as if Javascript ignores it. I believe it has something to do with the '<%= not being interpreted correctly by the browser I'm sure it is a simple solution, but I can't figure it out!

I have a gridview that is dynamically created and have finished all but one problem - I need for my code that is within a Public Shared Function to access a textbox string - In the below I need myinput to return the string so that my query's can use the variable - the below shows: Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or shared member initializer without an explicit instance of the class.
If I remove the "Shared" the error goes away however it crashes other parts. (if I hard code the text then all works as expected)

I am working with a repeater control for a reporting purpose.
I have 2 repeaters one inside another , i hvae to bind the second repeater with the help of function which is having two parameters to pass in it

Ok, I keep running into this problem
In my aspx I am calling a simple function.
But the problem is, that the function is either, string, integer, etc.
If there's null's in the data, the function explodes because it's set to a string or integer, etc.
How can I make the function accept both a null, and another data type so that I can
write some if then's to do different things if it is null or another data type.
