I fill a textbox with a value, say "22". I modify it manually to "300". When I want to store this value in a variable (on button_click), it's still "22". I can't figure it out why this is happening ?What am I doing wrong ? I tried using

I have a weird thing happening. I have two identical databases installed on one virtual machine but under two different instances of SQLServer. For some reason, periodically when saving from one it will save to the other instead. Using debug, I have verified that the connection string is correct and when the item saves, it still saves to the wrong database.I use session variable, and am of the belief that it might have something to do with it...and t hat when I go from one to the other it is still getting the connection string form the other for some reason.To make sure that it isn't a problem, I make sure that I completely close out one database before opening the other in a new IE window.I assume that when I completely close out an internet explorer window that it abandons all session states. Is that true?

I'm pretty sure the user would press enter to submit the section, but I would like to handle it nonetheless.To handle it, I put the "sections" into Panels, and set the default button for each. There is a total of 4 panels and default buttons set to their respective included buttons.When I press enter in 3 of them, the correct event fires, but not in one (it calls a different button).I put MsgBoxes (for testing) at the beginning of each server event to see which is being called, and it's not the correct one.I might as well post the code, but it's fairly simple. I don't know if the accordion affects it at all, but it doesn't seem like it should...

I have a very weird thing happening. I have two databases that have exactly the same tables but different database names on the same virtual machine, but in different instances of SQL Server. For some reason, when using one of them, it will save to the other. In debug, looking at my connection string..I have verified that it is correct, yet when I allow the save, I look in the table and it isn't there, it is in the other database that is in a table with a completely different name and in a different instance of SQL Server.
View 1 RepliesI'm building an ASP.NET MVC 2 site where I'm currently implementing an OpenID sign-up form. Unfortunately, I'm foreseeing a possible security bug/vulnerability inside my architecture.
Here's how I want OpenID login to work:
User requests /Account/Login, Controller sends back OpenIDLogin View. User enters their OpenID into the View, then OpenID authorization takes place, and finally the OpenID is returned to the Controller.The Controller checks whether the OpenID is currently in use by a user in the system or not. If it is, the user is logged in to that account. If not, the registration process begins.
And now, the OpenID registration process:
The OpenID identifier, as well as any other information provided by the OpenID provider (such as email address or name), is put into my custom ViewModel and sent to my OpenIDRegistrationForm View.The RegistrationForm View stores the OpenID in a hidden field to make sure that it gets sent back to the Controller.The user fills in the RegistrationForm View and sends it back to the Controller.The Controller creates the user account and puts the OpenID into the database.
The bug that I see within my architecture is that a user could modify the hidden value in the RegistrationForm View. Thus, they could spoof their OpenID! I will make sure to add another round of checking to the final Registration Controller Action to make sure that the OpenID that is provided doesn't exist yet, but there is still a possibility for spoofing. Can my architecture be improved somehow? I don't want this to end badly...
One solution I'm considering is encrypting the OpenID before I send it to the View and then decrypting it when it reaches the Controller. Should I try this?
I have a log in screen.
If the username and password do not match, it displays the message "invalid username/password" on the screen
But the cursor moves away from the password textbox. I want to cursor in the password textbox if the username/password is not correct
why the email attachments that my application sends sometimes ( maybe 1 out of a 100) come in the text format. Rather in raw markup format, not rendered?

View 1 RepliesI am using ASP.NET 2.0. I have a web appication that is using master pages and themes. When a page loads or is refreshed, you can see the controls and back ground cycle through some different colors before it settles on the colors defined in the theme. Somtimes the colors don't get painted properly. I have seen some of the areas on the page painted a light purple instead of the theme defined grey. We always see the back ground go from white->purple->black. Black is the defined color.
I have tried setting the theme in the web.config using the <pages theme= />.
I have tried setting the theme in code by overriding PreInit.
Is there a way to set the default colors so that I can make the page default colors match the ones in my theme so that I won't see the trasnistions when the page paints? Or is the a better way to set colors so that the pages look nicer?

I am building an application in Asp.Net 4.0 (Web Forms). I have used the feature of Routing introduced in this version of Asp.Net (4.0).
I have a few routes declared in my global.asax file. My problem is as long as the number of parameters (placeholders) declared in the route are different the right route is selected. But the moment the number of parameters (placeholders) declared in the route are same there is a clash and the Routing engine selects the wrong route. The only way I found was to use a Constant with one of the clashing routes to distinguish between the two. But I am sure there is a way out of it; I also tried using Regular Expression but still it selects the wrong route.

The last two routes have the same number of parameters so I tried to separate the second last route by adding a regular expression, but in vain.
How can i choose what button is activated when a user presses Enter after for example filling out a textbox?
View 2 RepliesI'm working on an auto-fill feature for a form. Everything works perfectly except for filling in an image beside a file upload control. I know you can't set an upload control, so I'm setting the imageurl with the path and using that instead. The problem is, when I add the path in the code behind, it's messing up the space character (%20) in the path.
for example what should be:
file:///S:/Projects/Bulletin_Mugs/CBProject/Brown,%20john%2012-11-1981.png
becomes:
file:///S:/Projects/Bulletin_Mugs/CBProject/Brown,%2520john%252012-11-1981.png

View 1 RepliesSo I have an ASPX page. the only thing i am doing is creating a XPS/PDF report to be sent to a customer. everything works well but now we have a bunch of customers and people are hitting the page quite a bit and we got a complaint about wrong data being in the report. i can reproduce this when i hammer the aspx page with like 10 reports at once. I will see the 2nd persons data in the first persons report randomly. is there something going on with cacheing or is it using the same instance of the page when the 2nd request comes in while the first report is getting generated?

View 5 RepliesI have two search textboxes and two corresponding buttons on my web page.One of the textboxes is a default textbox coming from the .master page and the other one is local to the page.Now,when I enter some text into the local textbox and press enter, the event of the master page button gets fired instead of that of the local button.How do I fix this issue? I tried to shift focus to the local button and on the text changed event but the master page button event is always the last one which is getting fired. I tried changing both the buttons to LinkButtons but then enter doesn't work!A

After seeing the error message, the user enters correct data and clicks next. The code behind the next button makes the error message empty and invisible and goes
to the next page. On the next page the user clicks the browser's back button. The previous page is displayed with the valid data and the error message showing.
I had expected the error message not to be displayed.
When I upload a file through a web page to a directory on the webserver the file does not inherit the parent folders rights. So when a user tries to access the file from the local network after the upload they recieve access denied. How can I set the rights on the file after the upload or get the rights to set correctly when the file is uploaded. The file uploads correctly but only has the rights of Network service, system,internet guest account and IIS_WPG. I need it to have a specific user or everyone which the parent folder has and is set to propogate permissions.
