Web.config Location Tag Stops Working When Deployed To Server?

When running the ASP.NET Development Server, everything is working fine. However, when I deploy my asp.net application to the production server (IIS 7.0 integrated mode, fresh install), my location tags in my web.config file are being ignored.
Case in point: I'm using forms authentication, and when the user arrives at my login.aspx page, the external css & js files are not being loaded...even though I have specified that those files should be available to all users (auth'd or not). However, once the user is logged in, the files do in fact load.

--EDIT Forgot to mention, I have tried creating a web.config file in the targetted folder as well...still not working.

We have an application that is making use of the location tag in the web.config file at the machine level - meaning like :WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0...CONFIGweb.config, the one that applies to the whole server - this application has lots of virtual directories under it and for each one there is a <location path="IIS Web App NameCustomerA">...This seems to work ok for that app. But then we have a second app on the same server, and I'd like to add location tags to that app's web.config file - meaning the local web.config file in the app's directory - and have each one of them specify a location tag in a similar way

I implemented the Location tag in the web.config file to authorize the anonymous users for Images folder. I deployed the code in IIS6.0 with Forms authentication mode enabled for the virtual directory. I disabled all other authentication modes. When I browse the login page, Images are not displaying. When I set Anonymous authentication in IIS6.0 for the Image folder, it works fine.

I have developed my web app in 3.5 framework and deployed at high config server(15 gb ram). In my app there are some rdlc reports which always throws out of memory exception. each report has around 15-20 pages. rest of pages are working fine. there are 700-800 users hitting this site concurrently. i m checking my server utilization and its never gone beyond 2 gb. wot i need to do so that my app can utilize full memory.

I'm using the full-text feature on SQL Server 2008 RC2. Everything had been working well until today. I wanted to change the language for word breakers from Neutral to Slovakia. After I did that, I can't perform full-text search anymore. It simply give me no rows. I even deleted the old full-text catalog and created a new one and populated it, but it still gave no solutions. I tried to query dm_fts_index_keywords_by_document on my table and get only 1 row with a display term END OF FILE.

I recently embarked on the endeavor of creating my own asynchronous file upload components for ASP.NET. I took lessons learned form Darren Johnstone's FileUpload project and created an HttpModule for extracting the files from the submitted data.
I got everything working as it should in testing with VS 2008 using the Development Server. I even went so far during my testing to ensure that the request was being intercepted by the module before the files began uploading. After I was satisfied with things, I deployed the project to our web server (Win 2008 w/ IIS 7). I was horrified to learn that the controls were not functioning when deployed.
After some remote debugging, I found that the HttpApplication.AuthenticateRequest event (my location for hooking in to the process) was not being invoked until the files were completely uploaded.

I'm trying to write some code that checks the number of days between two dates, when I set the date on my IIS7 server to anytime in the future I get the standard "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" screen. This happens if I comment out all my date checking code, with todays date it loads with any future date it doesn't. I've tried rerunning IISReset which makes no difference.

So we have three 2008 R2 Servers where two are configured to be web servers (IIS 7.5), and the third a session state server. I have set the SessionState and MachineKey settings in the applications web.config. After I restart the two web servers I can log into one server, then change the IP address to the other server, and I am still logged in. Success.
I can typically log in/out with any user account I want, change the ip address back and forth, and all is well until some random time between 30-60 minutes when I log in to one server, change the IP address, and the new server asks for credentials.
This is the sessionState setting in both web.configs:
<sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="30"/>
The application resides under the default web site, and uses the default application pool. I am using forms authentication with a timeout of 20 minutes. I am not receiving any error events on any of the three servers when this happens, and restarting the two web servers fixes the problem for a while. The two web servers are not clustered per-se, but will be served round-robin via a network device.

I have a div called address which as a textarea. When I click a hyperlink, it toggles the div up and down. After clicking a an asp.net button the div collapses which is fine, but I noticed the url turns from [URL] to [URL] and now the toggle does not work. Here is the script:

the site normally works fine in all popular browsers including firefox, chrome, safari and ie.
but doesn't work in ie 8 when it's redirected via a proxy server and it gives an error saying
"Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near 'DOCTYPE html PUB'."

I run a web site with VB.Net and Sql Server, at a web host (so I use one instance of their Sql Server db). I now get this nasty message when trying to access the web site: Column 'kryptotext' does not belong to table tabellen. I have seen this before (but with other columns mentioned), and when I spoke to the tech guys they said that the server gives up after five (or so) invalid requests. The old problems I had were due to the fact that I had used Application variables - at least the problems appeared when I added the variable and diappeared when I deleted them.
This time, I have done very little. I ran a new check when some items of a gridview were databound, and if a condition was ok, then a mail should be sent and an update take place in the db. For now, this will not be true, so the new code doesn't fire, and I have now reverted to the old code anyway. I got htis message this morning, and then it has worked the entire day without me changing the code at all, and now it stopped working again, so to me it seems as if it's either not my code's fault, or I somehow flood the db server with requests (but the web site is new so there are really no users yet). One more thing I have added: I imported the Net.Mail namespace to the baseclass I'm using for the aspx pages, but I can't believe that has anything to do with this.
I asked the tech guys again, and the server has been working the whole day. Here's the web site: [URL] I am able to connect to the admin part of the web site, so it's just the public web site itself that doesn't run. What should I do? Edit: Now, 30 minutes later, it works again. I haven't done anything, in fact I had dinner now.

I have an ASCX component that has a lot of javascript declared in a script tag in the ascx itself. I can set breakpoints, and the debugger stops as it should, but the text that is highlighted in the debugger as the "current line" is nowhere near the actual javascript (it is much higher in the rendered file than it should be). I can "wing it" for one or two lines with the real code side-by-side with the "false" line of execution, but I lose all the hover abilities and everything else that makes javascript debugging useful.
I have tried putting the script at the top of my ascx file, but to no avail. I've tried not setting a breakpoint until the entire page is rendered, so that I have to scroll all the way to where the actual lines of code are, and the debugger still stops somewhere way above it.

Running solution with VB.NET & C#, ASP.NET, VS 2008 with ReSharper 5 Most of the time, ReSharper is working (redundant code grayed out, squiggles, etc.) Sometimes, on the same code where it was working, nothing is highlighted to show ReSharper is enabled. I haven't done anything except modify code and debug. What is going on that turns it on/off?

I just deployed a site and all looks okay as far as it being up there and the files are there.However when I go to click on any link, they don't even send a request back to the browser.If I right click then open link in new tab is sends it along just fine but it seems like the page can't initiate a request back to the server,

We have an updatepanel in our site and there are a number of linkbuttons in it.Please note that the site works fine across all browsers without proxy the proxy changes the url from for instance www.mysite.net to 0-www.mysite.net.edu.net it also works fine in all browsers but IE the issue is that under proxy and in IE8, it gives an error when clicking one of the linkbuttons, the error message is

I have just deployed my entire website onto my hosting provider. My databases worked fine whilst I was testing the website on the local host. They use Plesk Control Panel. Here is my connection string:
Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename|DataDirectory|ASPNETDB.MDF";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True (nothing is omited from this string)
Why isn't this working when the website is online? I get the error Invalid value for key 'attachdbfilename'. I have retargeted my website for .net 2.0 at the providers request because they do not support .net 4.

I am working on migrating a site from IIS 6 to IIS 7 and I am not able to see all of my logs. My system.diagnostics configuration is as follows:

If I run the application locally using the ASP.Net web server or local IIS I get all my log files. Once the application has been deployed to IIS 7 I only get the System.ServiceModel log. I have verified that the directory exists and I have given full control to everybody. I also have restarted the services and the site in an attempt to force the logs to flush. I have just been trying anything to get a log out of this thing so I also installed the Tracing and Logging Tools role services. I still don't get my application logs.
I also tried an implementation where I logged to the EventLog instead of trace log files. This also exhibited the same behavior. Worked locally and when deployed to local IIS but not when deployed to the actual server. I logged to the application log and on my IIS7 machine I gave full control permission to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetserviceseventlogApplication.
Seems like I must be missing something here. I can't get any information out of these 2 different logging implementations when deployed within IIS 7. I'm not even sure what is common here. Do EventLog.WriteEntry and Trace.TraceEvent both use WCF?

I developed and deployed a web application using ASP.NET,C# successfully. The application was running perfectly until few days back. [NOTE: It still works fine on local machine (tested using both development server and IIS)] What happens now is: The website opens perfectly. After few operations which involves database interactions, in all the pages, the pages stop responding. I mean, after a few clicks, if I try another operation the page starts postback for unlimited time period and never gets rendered
and a following message is given: The connection was reset: Firefox 3.5... IE cannot display the web page: IE 7, 8 There is no database connectivity issues. I checked event logs on the web server and found few unhandlled exceptions, I corrected those. Now the event log doesn't show any error. But the problem is same.
I tried accessing the page from web server's browser, everything works fine. Even my boss can browse all pages with no problem (both have Win Server installed). Other machines (mostly XP) can't browse after sometime(as described above). I checked the memory usage, cpu time - NO ISSUES.
