I am using XAMPP to publish my a .net application. The server is working fine. I created a sample login.aspx file, and it works fine. I deleted the sample login file, and I build and copy all the files to the XAMPP directory. When I tried to acces the page, it gave an error message "Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server. If you think this is a server error, contact the

View 3 RepliesI've got an ASP MVC (1.0) application. It works fine locally via visual studio and on our dev server which runs IIS6. But when I try to deploy to the Test server (running IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2) I get only :"Could not load file or assembly '<ApplicationName>' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied" (where <ApplicationName> is the name of my application). This is followed by a "FileLoadException", a "ConfigurationErrorsException" and two "HttpException" (all with the same message as above)I deployed via publishing to an empty directory, whose contents were then zipped and transferred to the site directory on the test server. If I copy the directories contents to my IIS installation it works fine. I've checked that networkservices has permission to access the site directories and the temporary directories, which were the solutions I found via google,

View 3 RepliesI had deployed an asp.net 2.0 web site in IIS 7 in windows 7( with .net 4.0 installed ).
But while I am going to browse my starting page Welcome.aspx it shows error:
HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found. The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Is there any problem with deployment of the application?
I have a Web application that I have built, published and deployed on a Web Server. It all works great and up to now I have been able to get people to stop using it whilst I published any changes. It is an internal system but I now have firefighters that can be using this 24x7. I am probably being totally thick but how should I deploy small changes in codebehind pages without haviing to do a full deployment to the web server. I am learning ASP.NET as I go along and I am a bit confused with how I can update the web application without affecting users.
View 3 Replies Im looking to deploy a web application on a build server.
It is a very small web app and so far i have written a nice little console app that checks out from SVN and then calls msbuild on the .sln file.
This of course is not the same as publishing a web app and so far have not found a programatic way of publishing.
After msbuild has run can i simply delete all .cs and .vb files and then deploy?
or
Should i really try and find a way to publish programatically?
To clarify, the scenarios I am looking at involve deploying ASP.NET 4 Web Forms application that employ RouteTable.Routes.MapPageRoute:
public class Global : System.Web.HttpApplication
{
public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
{
RouteTable.Routes.MapPageRoute("questionnaires", "questionnaires", "~/Pages/Questionnaires/List.aspx", false);
[Code]....
Scenario 1: The application is NOT hosted as a virtual directory in an existing website, but is a stand-alone website (it is its own starting point). It has its own application pool. When deployed, it worked without any tinkering.
Scenario 2: The application is hosted as a virtual directory underneath an existing website. It also has its own application pool. However, I received 404 errors when trying to access the routes I had mapped out. Fortunately, I had experience getting MVC to work in 3.5 sp 1, so I tried that method: opened the properties dialog of the virtual director, went to the "Directory" tab, click the "Configuration" button, and added a Wildcard application map to the aspnet_isapi.dll and unchecked the "Verify that file exists" checkbox. This made it work.
My question is why did I have to add a wildcard application map in the second scenario but not the first? If it helps, the root website that hosts the virtual directory in the second scenario is set up with ASP.NET version 2.0.50727.
I am facing this error. My ASP.net website is running fine locally.
View 2 RepliesI have deployed simple application on production server it just update sql server table via update query.
The problem is That when I run that app on development machine it updates table on remote server but after deploying it on production server and accesing the url on production server/and development machine my code doesn't execute and thus it don't update table.
I have created virtual direcotry and configured app with specific application pool which is custom based Asp.net account.
I have published my site using Visual Stuido's 2008 publish feature. I have then copied these files to a windows 2008 web server with IIS7 installed, it also has .net 3.5 sp1 and MVC installed In IIS I added the site using the 'Add a new site' right click option and then pointed this at the directory my site files are located in, I used the default application pool and it is set to integrated. Then when I attempt to browse I got the error message The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory. So I added Default.aspx to the default document list and I then get the following error message
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map. Has anyone got any ideas on what I do next ? I have read lots of articles on this online but most are confusing and dont explain the solution in simple terms Surely it should be pretty straightforard to just deploy an MVC website to IIS7
I am trying to learn how to deploy a web application with .msi installer. I followed the tutorial at this site http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/06/15/tip-trick-creating-packaged-asp-net-setup-programs-with-vs-2005.aspx and created a .msi file.However, after I installed the application and tried to open the default.aspx file, I got this error:A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http://localhost/TestMsi/default.aspx'.

I have built my site using VS.Net 2010 on my XP machine. I would like to deploy it to my server which is a Windows 2003 Server. I have tried to do it with FTP, but it keeps failing with the error that "Front Page Extensions are not installed on the web server". When I check the server the extensions were installed and I also checked IIS and the service for the extension is allowed.
View 6 RepliesI am using TFS to build my MVC app. I cannot do it because I get lots of compile errors. I am using version 4 of .Net and MVC 2. On the build server I have the .Net framework 4.0 installed. It has been suggested that I should also download the MVC framework as well, but when I look on the net all I can find is this MVC framework; http://mvcframework.codeplex.com/ which does not seem to be relevant and does not work anyway.
One of the assemblies I am missing on the build server is System.Web.Mvc dll.Typical error messages include; "The type or namespace name 'Mvc' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?)"What do I need to do to fix this?
I have a separate environment for development. On my production server, where we mostly host web applications, we deploy the precompiled version of the web project. While doing development I work on three projects. One is the WCF Service. Two, is the class library project. This library has classes which makes calls on the WCF service. And the third, is a web project which consumes the class library.
The last two projects come under one VS solution. I host the wcf service in the development environment. This service is added as service reference to my class library. I am unable to visualize what will happen once I add the DLL (viz output of the class library project) to my web project, and, the web project has to be deployed. At the time of deployment I have to change the service reference (the url of the svc file will change as it has to point to the production wcf service). How to go about this? What must I take care when adding the dll to the web project?
My application is working well in localhost, but it became very slow after deploying in server.
I have used session which stores 2 string values. What might be the reason? Its taking too much time to retrieve page
I've been using a standard web site in Visual Studio for my site, using the Plesk file manager interface to upload files either singly or in total as a .zip file.Recently I've changed the project to a VS web application.All the documentation that I see refers to using IIS to deploy a web app; if I wanted to just FTP all the source code, I may well have stayed with web site.I've not been able to find any Plesk specific deployment info.
