Why do they loaded in Page-Load only? What does the need of Page-Init then ?

Feb 11, 2010Have a GridView in an UpdatePanel, all works fine. Click the Submit() button which updates the database on postback, then the GridView is bound in code and I register an alert:
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this.UpdatePanel1, typeof(string), "dopopup", "alert('Operation successful!');", true);
Calling UpdatePanel1.Update() causes the popup to appear. All fine but what I am noticing is that the alert occurs just before the page has fully updated and is causing a few minor layout issues that are resolved when the alert button is closed (by clicking OK). Is there a way to generate an alert after a full UpdatePanel refresh, so something like:
ScriptManager.RegisterFullyLoadedScript(this.UpdatePanel1, typeof(string), "dopopup", "alert('Operation successful!');", true);
I tried a simple wait() in the code like this:
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this.UpdatePanel1, typeof(string), "dopopup", "wait(100);alert('Operation successful!');", true);
But this didn't work.
Jquery - Don't Show Content If Page Is Not Fully Loaded
Mar 30, 2011I have this problem in loading contents of the site where there's a certain time that those elements that supposed to be hidden are shown for a while before the page is completely loaded.
Everything below the dropdown is supposed to be hidden and they show atleast a second that is very noticeable, that I still have the time to have a screen shot. Below is when the content is completely loaded.
Everything inside the content is inside an UpdatePanel, and I am using a jqTransform to transform the form elements. I know that jqTransform is called after all elements is loaded, but I just don't understand why it is showing the hidden elements before the page is completely loaded.
Is there any work around this one that I will only show directly the completely loaded page instead of showing the hidden elements before hiding them?
FYI: Elements hidden will be shown according to the value selected on the dropdown. If the element is hidden before the jqTransform is called, once I show them back, it is unusable or cut off.
Postback Before Page Fully Loaded Cause Dropdownlist To Have The Wrong SelectedValue?
Oct 18, 2010We were having occasional reports where the value of a set of DropDownBoxs in a GridView would be reset to the first value item in the list.
We finally tracked it down to a timing issue where a user would click Save before the page finished rendering/loading the data, and we are able to repro it on the production server but not locally because the page loads too quickly.
How would we go about detecting this on the server side to know the data returned is invalid or otherwise stop from setting data that the user didn't set?

VS 2008 VB Redirect But Not After HTML Fully Loaded
Jan 22, 2011I am struggling a little creating a basic redirect page in ASP.Net but ensure the HTML is loaded first.I tried putting Response.Redirect in the page load event but that fires before the HTML is fully loaded. Been trying to use a timer but just not doing anything.I need the HTML to load before the redirect occurs is I have a statcounter script installed to log the visit before it redirects of my site.

to hide a div which indicates the image is not loaded yet,but it hides before the image has finished loading and is shown, while the browser is giving me a message that the page is still transferring data from the server :S
Is there another function I can use to make sure that the image is fully loaded?

Nov 28, 2010I'm creating a page that users can upload a file to the webserver. After upload the page will then have a link to the file that has just been uploaded, along with any other files that have already been uploaded.As I am programatcially creating links to the files which have been uploaded, I have to do this in page_init or else the link button won't fire off it's event when clicked. MY web page does all this - it creates the link buttons and when I click on them, it calls the event method required i.e. a sub to download the file.
OK, the problem I've come accross is: when I click upload (to upload the file) - the page_init sub is called, displaying all the previously uploaded files as link buttons. Then my btnUpload_click sub is called, which uploads my current file. The only prob is the current file hasn't been displayed? I can only display links in the page_init, but because btnUpload is called after the page_init, the current file isn't uploaded until after page_init and therefore not dislayed?

Apr 9, 2010I do some dynamic stuff with UpdatePanel controls and it would be great to store stuff in a Session key and be able to grab it immediately with confidence in a Page_Init. Fantasy e.g.,

I want something like this so that even if an individual user has two or more instances of that page open I am able to respond correctly to the immediate instance in Page_Init. Is it possible to achieve what I want or some facsimile of same? I know I can speculatively make an assumption and then check it in Page_Load when I have access to ViewState, but I would like something that approaches a best practice.

C# - AJAX Best Practice For Adding Html Components To A Page?
Jan 31, 2011I'm new to AJAX/javascript, and I'm not sure what the best approach is for what I'm trying to do.
I'm calling page methods (WebMethods) on my Page using Javascript. The data I'm retrieving is a list of Divs basically.
I don't know how many will be returned, but they need to be inserted into the proper place on the page depending on their content.
I see a couple ways of doing this:
Create a list of HtmlGenericControls and pass them back. Create a list of Strings, where each String is the entire Div code I want to drop onto the page. (This feels wrong for some reason)Create simple container objects that have the necessary data in them. Pass those to the page and use them to create the Divs within javascript.

Sometimes The Page Does Not Load Fully After An Clientscript Alert()
Mar 31, 2010The problem i have noticed is that sometimes after a clientscript alert() the page will not post back properly and kind of "hang". The page will only show the background and will not do anything until the browser is refreshed.

I call clientscripts withing button click events, after the code has succeded or failed(try catch). So i will write to database/upload file/send email and then depending on the restult run a clientscript alert to notify the user. However sometimes after you "Ok" the alert the page does not finish posting back and "hangs" half loaded.
how to fix it? would adding return false; after the alert in the client script at all? (i have seen this in a online code example but they did not explain why they put it there).

Apr 27, 2010I have a huge content on a page which scroll's down vertically and when I try to popup a modalpopup control on this page, some part of the screen is not grayed out on IE6 and user can interact with the background page ( even when modal popup is open) . This happens only on IE6 works fine on IE8 and firefox .

Feb 19, 2010I have a page that downloads a dataset and streams the output to an Excel file by modifying the response headers.
I want to write an AJAX call on the client side that can display a modaldialog while the file is being generated and dismiss the modaldialog when the file has been fully rendered.
I can turn the dalog on when the user clicks a link, but for some reason my pages return readystate 4 and status 200 prematurely. (These are the codes that say the page is done)
Because this is happening, either the modal dialog is dismissed immediately or I need the user to dismiss it.
Has anyone seen this before? Is this an issue with streaming a file instead of hitting a physical page?
Does anyone have a work-around, or will I need to have the user manually dismiss the dialog?

Disabling Parent Page When Child Page Is Loaded?
Jul 14, 2010I have to disable our parent page(Complete gray out and non functioning) when child page is loaded. Once I close child page then I could perform any action at my parent page.
I can not use Div at my parent page because it may be many page so i have to controlled it from child page only.
