Jul 31, 2010A few basic yes/no questions to see if I am expecting the impossible within VWDE:
At one point I thought I was given an option to create an external css file & have all styles automatically stored in the external file. Is there such a setting? ( Right now I have an external css file created & linked to the page, but as I work on the web page in Design view all new styles are created in the web page & I need to use the style manager to move them to the external file. )Can I tell VWDE to generate css for all formatting as I create a new table in the web page in design view? In other words, can I work strictly in web page design view yet have all formatting code - including the table layout - generated into the external css file?If I create style code for a web page table, does that style code need to be manually modified each time I add or remove rows from the table?Is there a VWDE funtion/tool to generate an external css file for an existing web page that contains embedded/inline styles? Right now I find that I need to individually move each style to an external sheet - i.e. Q1.If I were able in some way to create an external css file to handle all formatting for a given web page, would I have to manually create & maintain a second external css file to provide a printer-friendly format?Basically I have found so far that WYSIWYG editting in VWDE is ok up to a point, but support for CSS in Design view is very limited. It seems that if I want to employ CSS, I have to edit & separately manage CSS code rather than work in a WYSIWYG mode.
TI am hoping that even simple yes/no answers to the above will help me determine if VWDE is an exercise in frustration or worthwhile for me.
Edit Doesn;t Work In Gridview?
Apr 1, 2010I have a Gridview in UpdatePanel and a textbox in which i input a string, the row is searched from gridview onkeyup of textbox.For example when i entered "testing" one row is displayed in gridview having "Edit" command and when i clicked on "Edit" it goes to top of the row having another data is converted into edit mode but that rows is not changed into textbox.

May 28, 2010Although Enable Edit and Continue is checked on the Web tab of my ASP.Net MVC 2 project, I cannot in fact change the source code while running. For example, if I try to edit a controller while paused in the debugger, I cannot change the file (acts as if read only).

C# - Hosts File Edit Taking A Long Time To Work?
Aug 5, 2010Whenever I add an entry to the Hosts file on Windows, it takes a long time for the change to take place? I have tested using Firefox and IE and it seems to take around 5 minutes on both of them before the new IP/Domain entry on Hosts is recognised.
Is there anything I can do to overcome this? Perhaps "refreshing" the cache in some way? ipconfig /flushdns doesn't work.

Nov 4, 2010I have a simple GridView with AutoGenerateColumns,Edit and DeleteButton = true
It's data source is a DataTable dynamically generated.
Since i don't want to use object data source, i just catched Delete event and deleted rows from datatable and made a new databind. It works.
I tried to use also AutoGenerateEdit button, but when i click on Edit command field, nothing happes. So i decided to handle by myself edit events, and changed datagrid in this way:

How To Edit Original Source Code
Feb 21, 2010The things I need to change are in my default.aspx file. First, at the bottom of my pages it has the name of the company that created the site for us. I want that taken off our site. I know it is a matter of going into the default.aspx file and removing the wording, but I cannot figure out how to go into it and change it.
Also in our default.aspx file, on line 167 and 168 there is a reference to the slideshow that is on our front page. There is a string missing that should point to our last two images, but again, I am unable to get into the default.aspx to edit it.
Evidently when our site was created, the developers used the precompilation tool so now I am unable to edit any of the files when I try to upload them into visual studio. Whenever I try to uplaod them I get the error "This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!"
I do have all of the original source files for the site, but as you know there are alot of them and I am not sure where to find the original default.aspx file or even what it would be named so I can make the changes to it. Also, once the changes are made will I have to precompile the entire site again, or can I just do the default.aspx and uplaod it to the server?

How To Automatically Stop Debugging When Starting To Edit Code?
Feb 25, 2010I am working on an ASP.NET project. When I am debugging, I often want to switch back from my browser to Visual Studio (2008) and edit some code. Visual Studio then won't let me edit the code, unless I explicitly quit debugging first.
Is there any way to configure Visual Studio such that is automatically stops debugging and allow me to edit the code, or do I have to stop it manually each and every time?
Disabling Edit and Continue does allow me to edit the code, but this does not force VS to stop debugging...

I have created a hierarchy: Deals,Deal, DealSlots, DealSlot that is represented by 4 corresponding vb files So I can reference like so in my aspx pages dim alldeals as class Deals some id=Deals.Deal(1).DealSlots(2).PersonID I created a Public Method GetDealData which is in Deals.vb and gets data from a database and attempts to populate the class variables.I have a test.aspx that uses this function like so:

Jan 14, 2011Lately, I asked for testing a code, to detect the bugs and fix the problems. I find many problems but the main problem here is the code it self. Spaghetti code many many code lines and the tracing to fix problems is so difficult. Plus some code is copied and pasted from the internet as it is without any modification. No documentation is possible to this code, the performance is so bad due to the heavy using of viewstate in every thing and it takes me a lot of time to fix the problems and I am afraid of after all this time still other bugs may appear in the future. How to handle this case.
