Mar 10, 2011I got one remote website and two local websites. All the .asp files are the same in 3 websites. In the remote website, there is a file aaa.asp, its url is
http://www.xxx.com/aaa.asp
In the first local website, the url of the same file is
http://127.0.0.1/local1/aaa.asp
In the second local website, the url of the same file is
http://127.0.0.1/local2/aaa.asp
My question is: In any .asp files (may be in different folders) of any above website, how can I get the url of aaa.asp by use the same code?

Nov 16, 2010I recently came aware of some knowledge I was not aware of before. One of my friends said that publishing a website with the code behind is a security risk. Instead, he insisted I only publish with the DLL's to prevent hackers from altering your code. Is this true? What are the advantages and disadvantages for doing this?

I've added this account to the permissions in the links listed in the below link, but i don't have success when trying to push remotely. Jan 16, 2011Problem: I have two pages. Page1 and Page2. When I Click Page1_Button it redirects to Page2 with a Querystring value. In Page2 I do some processing and click save button. My database will get updated and at the same time when I do this my Page1 should also get updated with new values from database. I have a function in Page1 that does this. So my question is How do I call this function in page1 without loosing the previous data on page1 by forcing it to reload? Or in other words Is it possible to call a codebehind function of one page from codebehind of another page without loosing the data or loading the entire page?

Reusable Code / Class Files?
Jan 23, 2011I want have a web application that I am putting together - but I have started to see that some of the things I am writing are repeated over and over, example -
GetDepartments() in the code behind has all the database connections and is linked to a stored procedure.All it does is return Department Names' and Ids', ie then bind them to a dropdownlist.My question is this I have seen Class files - I want to know if I can put this type of information in there and just call it whereever I need it in the site and then bind to whichever dropdownlist I need to?I have had a look around the net and even saw some examples by scott mitchell - but it used datasets (.xsd) files etc and dont want to be using them, plus it was a little over my head. Does anyone know of some good simple examples out there that I can follow, or maybe some examples on here?

Feb 15, 2011I am converting an old asp project to a new .NET project. Now, all vb code are inside aspx files, and we are on the process of moving all vb script from aspx files to .vb files. My problem is, I can't debug the vb script inside most of the aspx files. All my friends don't have this problem. I think the problem is with vb text editor.
I am using Visual Studio 2008.
Is there anyway, I can make visual studio understand that aspx files have vb script inside them.

Splitting The Code Behind File Into Multiple Files?
Apr 1, 2010I have too many lines in my code behind file. Now it grows up to almost 3500 lines. I wonder if it can be splitted into several files.
To be specify, say I have CustomerEdit.aspx and code behind as CustomerEdit.aspx.cs. In my code behind, most of them are functions taking care of UI (i.e. protected void ... _Click() or protected void ... _SelectedIndexChanged()). I have some private functions, but they usually refer to some UI elements.
Question: Can I safely seperate CustomerEdit.aspx.cs into smaller files like CustomerEdit01.aspx.cs, CustomerEdit02.aspx.cs, etc?
2.0 -how To Include Files Containing Server-side Code
Oct 20, 2010I want to be able to load a customized log in page depending on a couple of parameters passed into the querystring.Each customized login page needs to be able to dynamically display log in errors and possibly have other variables passed in.
Let's say the dynamic login page looks like this (over-simplification here):

If the aspx page loads the file like this:
Response.writefile("path/to/custom/page");
the code shows up in the output and doesn't get processed. I have tried other ways to load the file contents (something similar to classic ASP includes) but get the same results every time.I could have all the custom pages set up as user controls, but I need 100% control over the css, js, and html - and the documentation I read here indicates that I won't have that level of granularity.link textPLUS - I'm stuck in a .net 2.0 environment - so .NET MVC is not available to me

and when I place this code in my aspx page inside a script tag, it works fine. But it doesn't work in an external js file. I am not able to figure out the problem.
Is there anything wrong in my code, or is it like this by default?
C# - Some Aspx Controls Are Not Recognized In The Code-behind Files
Jul 19, 2010I noticed that some aspx controls were not being recognized by intellisense, and when I tried to compile, I got errors stating that the controls basically didn't exist.
After a lot of tinkering, I realized that the .aspx.designer.cs file was missing for several .aspx files.
What is the best way to re-create the files?

When i opened my website in visual studio i noticed there were no Page Code files (aspx.cs files) and not even my App_Code folder where i wrote custom code files.

VS 2010 - Two Different ASPX Files But Same Code-behind File?
May 21, 2012I have code that needs to run in two deployments. Let's call them deployment H and deployment W.
The code is already running in deployment H, and there's an aspx page and an aspx.cs code-behind file. The code is compiled for framework 2.0 which is the lowest common denominator of the two deployments. Deployment H has its own logos and styling which are coded in its aspx file.
Deployment W now wants to use this same page, but it wants its own logos and styling. There are also additional fields on the page that deployment H doesn't need.
I think it's easier to maintain one code base which is why I want the same code-behind file, but I am having trouble figuring out how to set this up in Visual Studio. Orginally, I was going to have two projects, one for W and one for H, but I'd have to make the same changes to both files when some of the common areas changes.

Jan 10, 2011I was working on a .Net 2.0 application. Late at night I upgraded it to .Net v.4. Then, as SVN was complaining I started to do manual conflict resolution. Even later than that I tried to check in my changes, then hit some conflicts so manually merged changes from the two different .csproj files.
I can't get back to where I was and rolling back to the previous version makes me lose all the code that has been written for it.
So I'm looking for a quick/dirty and reliable way of making sure my application code doesn't get lost?
