Add To Script Manager Reference To MS CDN JQuery?
Mar 29, 2011
I use C# and ASP.Net 4.I have a Master Page, inside a Script Manager with EnableCdn="True" so I can load automatically all ASP.NET Ajax Library from MS CDN Servers.
<asp:ScriptManager ID="uxScriptManagerMasterPage" runat="server"
EnableCdn="True">
</asp:ScriptManager>
I need also to include in my Master Page JQuery library. At the moment I'm using the following element in the Header of the page:<script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.5.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>I would like to know if there is any properierty for ScriptManager that would allow me to load all Ms Ajax library plus Jquery from MS CDN using ScriptManager.I had a look at CdnPath property but I'm not able to make it work.

one juvenile question , i am having a asp.net intranet application which is using jquery, instead of ref jquery to every page, i decided it to put it on the master page inside the script manager scriptReference tag. note not all pages of my application requires jquery, so is it a wise thing to do, or it will affect the performance,

I have a nested master page. A parent master page, a child master page and a content page whose master page is the child master page. I have a reference to jQuery in the parent master page in the head section.<script type="text/javascript" src='<%#ResolveUrl("~/includes/jquery-1.4.2.min.js") %>' ></script> & Page.Header.DataBind(); in the OnLoad event.
I am using jQuery in all the pages including the master pages. However I am getting "Error: $().ready is not a function" in the content page. If I include jQuery reference in the content page it works. Question: If the reference to jQuery is in the master page head section, why aren't the content pages able to use jQuery? When I do view source, the script tag with jQuery is there and it works. The master pages and content page are merged during rendering and sent to the browser as a single html page so I am not sure when master pages are used, jQuery references break.
UPDATE:
When I changed '$.ready(function()' to 'jQuery(document).ready(function($)' it worked! I am not loading any other javascript libraries and I am not using MS Ajax.

I have a hquery plugin that consists of jquery itself, 2 .js files and some script to configure the plug-in which resides on the page. I noticed that in .net you can create a .js file.What I would like to do is put the configuration inside a .js file created in .net, but how do I then reference this in the header of the page?am I over complicating the issue or just missing something?

I am looping through a JSON table using jquerys foreach operator. I am having to reference the the columns by name e.g:
$.each(items, function (index, item) {
if (item.CustomerFname == "Bob") {
alert(item.CustomerFname + " " item.CustomerSname)
}
Whereas I would like to be able to say something like:
[code]....
Ultimately I'm trying to make this function dynamic with respects to the json list I pass in which will of course mean that the column names will change. However I would like to perform the same operations on the columns...

I am using Asp.Net C# 2.0. My website is working fine in local. Website contains 2 js files included in master page. It works fine in local environment, but when i publish my website i get "Object expected" error on page load, and thus the js functions are not working in published website.
Currently i am writing <script src="/javascripts/jquery.hotkeys-0.7.9.js" type="text/javascript"></script> in master page.

I'm sure I'm going about this wrong but I'm trying to write a simple javascript method that will set a hidden type value upon a link click. I'm using the Html.BeginForm() helper that contains two links similar to:
@Html.ActionLink("Delete Review Only", "Delete", new { id = Model.ReviewId }, new { onclick = "SetDeleteType(1);" })
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function SetDeleteType(selectedtype) {
document.supportform.deleteType.value = selectedtype;
document.supportform.submit();
}
The supportform name obviously doesn't exists since I'm using BeginForm() and can't specify a form name. Is there a clever way of doing this without calling Forms(0) using jQuery or something or am I completely off?

I am trying to call web reference "A" in an application.
The web reference "A" will then call a function in another web reference "B" through HTTPS connection (require certificate).
Then I keep getting the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException' occurred in System.Web.Services.dll

When you use ASP.NET web site (instead of web application model) and add reference to an assembly from local folder, Visual Studio, it seems, understands that this local assembly is also in GAC and so does NOT copy this assembly to bin folder (as it does with non-GAC assemblies), but simply adds new record in web.config file.
Why such a behaviour? Is it possible to force copy to bin folder (I need this since .dll is not on target environment)? I can add assembly to bin folder as file and it will work, but in this case bin folder contents will be in source control, which is not good.

I am working on converting a project from C# to VB and am facing this weird issue. 1 page cannot compile and I get the reference error, but the weird thing is that the compiler shows the error as coming from ASP.NET generated code. Visual Studio shows me that error is coming from my ASPX page. I cannot seem to figure out why or where this error is occuring. Also if I take the inherits attribute out I don't get the compilation error. The code in aspx page is below:

I am using VS2005, and a newbie at table adapters, DAL & BLL. I have a single dataset (in DAL) and 2 classes (in BLL) named Class1.vb and Class2.vb.
When I try to call a function from Class1 within Class2 I get the error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference".
Here is a sketch of my code structure:

I have a Web service which, when updated on one computer with VS2008 works perfectly fine, but on another computer does not. The critical difference is the contents of the auto-generated Reference.cs.
In the correctly functioning environment, the methods have fully qualified class names, refering to classes in a class library. However, in the problem environment, the class names are unqualified and partial classes are declared near the end of the file. E.g.
[code]....
The code is under source control. Checking out to the working environment works straight away, checking out to the problem environment will only work if the reference.cs is manually edited to be like the working environments. Transferring the project manually from problem environment to the working one only requires an "Update Web Reference" to be performed to allow compilation. Both Reference.cs files claim to be auto-generated by the same tool version. The settings from the good environment have been exported to the other. No success so far...

I have a url like this:
http://www.somepage.com/main.aspx. In this page, when I click on a link it takes me to a page
http://www.somepage.com/cental.aspx?cid=200. So in the cental.aspx.cs page I did the following in the page load:
if(request.querystring["comp"].tostring() != null)
{
//do some thing [code].....
So I got an error like: object reference not set to an instance of reference.My problem is, I am using the same page. So when I go from some page, I will have "comp". but other times not. So when there is no "comp", how do I handle it in request.querystring?

my logic here is to select an item from the dropdown list and put some text in the text box and submit the form which will add an item to the listbox selected.. but when i do this i get an error saying Object reference not set to an instance of an object. i tried to figure out the problem and found that when i remove the reference to the Site Master Page it works fine and when i undo and apply my reference back to the Site Master Page i get the same error.

Using VS2008, I noticed that in Class Project I only have a choice of adding "service reference" where as in Web Application project, I have two choices "web reference" and "service reference".
I have used web reference. How is "service reference" different from web ref? and what's the major purpose of service ref?

I have installed an ASP.NET 4.0 Web forms application in IIS 7.5. If I set the application pool to DefaultAppPool (.NET Framework 2.0) I get the icons for Providers, .NET-Roles and .NET-Users displayed on the configuration page for the application in IIS Manager and I can manage users and roles within IIS. (I'm using Forms authentication.)
But if I set the application pool to ASP.NET v4.0 I get a problem: Double clicking on the icons for Users or Roles in IIS Manager throws an error telling me that I cannot use these features since the providers could not be determined as trusted. If I set in administration.config in the trustedProviders section allowUntrustedProviders="true" and double click again on one of the icons I get the error that the assembly System.Web, Version 4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a could not be found. If I restart IIS Manager the icons disappear completely.
.NET Framework 4.0 is definitely installed. So this is all quite confusing. I know that .NET 4 uses another GAC than the old one for .NET 2-3. Could it be possible that IIS Manager is not able to find the new GAC for .NET 4? Do I have to add perhaps some of the new 4.0 assemblies to administration.config? Is there another way to add users and roles instead of IIS?
