I have a dropdown list populated from the database. There is also a button next to the dropdownlist that once clicked on. It takes the item in the dropdownlist and use that to populate the gridview.however though, I would like to add a blank to the dropdownlist and message that would say, you have selected a blank whenever the user selects the blank from the dropdownlist and clicks on the button.

In this particular case, the DropDownList is in the EmptyDataTemplate, but I suspect I will run into a similar situation when I'm in Data Rows as well.I'm trying to handle the OnSelectedIndexChanged event for the DropDownList and in the .aspx file I have used the declarative syntax to assign the handler OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlStoreList_SelectedIndexChanged") and have created the handler code to deal with this.

The problem that I'm running into is that the event is not being handled. In other words, when I put a breakpoint in the handler, I find that it is not getting hit when I change the selection of the DropDownList.
I am trying to do is user can add to the drop down list during runtime and that new value should then be inserted in the databse .
suppose drop down list is bind with as dataset with values
value1,
value2 ,
value3 ,
now if the user click on button "add new items" then he should be able to enter new list item and that should be able to insert it in databse.
I have a listview that is displaying records currently based on a dropdown.. works great.. now, within those results returned, i would like to filter down some more.. How can i add a dropdownlist to the page that is populated with data from the listview(only 1 field would be used to create the list ) and if you chose to filter by that drop down, then the listview is revised to display only records with the selected value.
Example..
Currently you pick from a drop down.. Report#1, Report#2 or Report#3 Say report#1 returns 100 records.. and the field im going to be filtering on is my "Vendor" field.. so once my listview displays my results, a dropdownlist is populated with all the vendors that were returned with the query.. could just be a few..
Now you are sitting there paging thru all the records.. and realize you really just need to see out of the 100 records, records that belong to Vendor#3, so you pick #3 from the drop downlist and the procedure is called again now filtering on that vendor..
I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". I am learning jQuery. Here I have a requirement i.e I have to add Week number and Week ranges of a year to Drop-down List in ASP.NET3.5. And I have to pass selected week range to database. I am using c#.net. This should be done automatically for every year.

I am using the cascading dropdownlist controls from the Ajax toolkit. I have everything working perfectly and all of my select changes work. I have 3 related select boxes that all work great for single item select. What I need is for my last dropdownlist to allow for the selection of multiple items. I have tried adding the 'multiple' attribute to the final dropdown list and it allows the selection of multiple items but I cannot get the items when I post back, just a single item.
View 7 RepliesI am trying to have a listview which will work like a table with paging. My problem is I need to be able to add more than 1 row at a time. ie I want to click "add new row" multiple times on the same page without the page changing and without the rows I'm adding going away.
Basically I need the user to still see the already inserted rows as well as the rows they are planning to insert on the same page. This would mean the page size is temporarily larger than it should be. The new rows would be added to the end of my data source when the user goes to another page or clicks a separate save button.
I have 2 drop down lists.I have a very simple dropdown list #1 that diplays a title and holds an id value which is a GUID.I know it is getting this value and sending this value as I tested sending it to a label.I have the dropdown list #1 to autopostback to dropdown list #2 that "Is supposed to get" another title and value based on the GUID value of the first dropdown list. for some reason it wont return anything. I have done 100's of these but never based off a guid value.I assume the value needs to be converted to guid before selecting it in the second dropdown list.How can I do this? or is there something I am missing?

Very new to C# although I have alot of older coding experience. Not much object orientated programming though. Anyways, I have a .net program I'm working on, basically to work on my skills although it will prove to be useful. I am keeping track of my work schedule. Currently, I am populating a datagridview from a sql 2008 express db. My columns are: date worked, hours, paid, and paidon. What I want to do is add an empty row whenever the date corresponds to a date that is "Monday". My goal is to line break every week. So that each work week (Mon-Sun) is seperated by a blank row. I would rather not actually have this blank row in the database. I would like the gridview to do this on the fly. Here is my gridview code in my default.aspx file:

Clicking the label of a drop down list, re-sets the selected value to the first item in the list. This has a history of causing data entry problems when users accidently click on the label.
In the below example ddlContactType has a selected value as 'PRIMARY' and whenever i click on the lblContactType Text, the dropdown box Selected value is changing to "Select One" Text.
How to prevent this one. It should be on PRIMARY Only.

I have a databound dropdownlist and have a problem with the default value it selects.When I attempt to edit a record the dropdownlist shows the first value in the list rather than the current value. I want the dropdown list to display the current value.

I'm trying to progam a strongly typed "Create" view using MVC 3 and razor. I want the user to be able to select a customer from a dropdown list (I populated this from my database using ViewBag in the controller). When the user has selected a customer I want a separate dropdown list to generate a list of dogs belonging to that customer related by the customerID in the database. The create button on the form will then take both of these values along with the the other fields and save it to the database.
View 1 RepliesI have a Cascading drop down list that is working fine to load the correct lists however I would like to have the last one initiate a query and display a datagrid on the same page containing the results of the query. Without Ajax involved this seems rather easy by using autopostback on the drop downs. If I could do it through Ajax that would be great but I can settle with having the page to reload to display the data. Right now I'm not sure how to do either. I enabled autopostback on the last drop down and wrote a method for it but I get an error at runtime saying:
Invalid postback or callback argument
I'm designing my own custom control that contains a .NET dropdownlist. What I'm wondering is if it is possible to populate my dropdownlist with listitems placed in a placeholder? For example:

This doesn't work because the DropDownList control only allows ListItems as child controls. But, I want to do something similar to this so when the user includes my control on a page, they can do something like this:
