saving my aspx file takes too long, it has some nested tables, but it is nothing huge, it has like 50+ overall controls on the form. When I hit the save button, it takes a few minutes and drives cpu crazy, so I am guessing it is doing something in the background.
So, what is the reason, any clues how to speed this up?

View 5 RepliesIm working on windows 7 operating system now and having a few issues with the sql server. I had visual studio 2005 and sql server express 2005 installed on my machine 1st. i then got visual studio 2008 and installed sql server express 2008. when i try and create a new database in the App_Data file (sql server database *.mdf file) i get the following error message;
"Connections to sql server files (*.mdf) require sql server express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the url: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49251"
I was just wondering what way i could create a *.mdf file looking into sql server express 2008. I also found out that sql server express 2008 management studio is not compatible with windows 7 yet..?
I fixed my last web project and I have to fix another one.I created a new page and it puts the name codefile attribute correctly.I paste in the html, but it doesn't create the designer file.All I see is the aspx and the .vb code file.

View 2 RepliesI installed Windows 7 a few days ago and everything seemed to install fine. I opened up a rather large project I've been working on and opened up my dataset file. I created a new table in SQL Server 2005 and so in turn I created a new tableadapter. It went through the steps to create the tableadapter fine but when I tried to finish it, it took FOREVER to finally refresh. The table is small, about 6 fields with no data, and I waited 20 minutes at least for Visual Studio to finally respond again. Now I've tried to save my work and it's hung up again. I've been waiting another 20 minutes at least just for VS to save the file. Is there some known issue with datasets and Windows 7? This didn't happen in XP and I simply can't be waiting for an hour to simply add a table adapter and save the file.
View 5 RepliesSomething happened on my work computer where the Start Page for a website is not saved. I now need to save the start page every time I open a web site project (which is quite annoying).
I have confirmed that this is happening by also seeing that the Property Pages do not retain the setting either. This happens for every web site project as well.
Where and how does .NET 2008 store the start page setting for a web project? I have looked in the solution file, but could not find it there.
Just as the subject says, my VS'05 installation hangs when trying to create a new website. I even installed a fresh version of VS08 along side '05 and '08 is doing the same.

I have a question regarding a situation that occurs with GridView, ObjectDataSource in ASP .NET application. The GridView is linked to the ObjectDataSource and both are included within an UpdatePanel letting the GridView to fill in an asynchronous way from a form in the same page so it gets more rows as the user enters the data:

I start the project with Visual Studio 2008, fill the form and it works correctly. Then I stop the execution: rerun again and the data I entered in the previous run is in the GridView. Is like some sort of cache saved the data from the session before. I checked that EnableCaching property is set to false for the ObjectDataSource. If I Rebuild Web Site in Visual Studio (not just Build) then it works corretly leaving the GridView empty. Is this caused just becuase of Visual Studio? Can it be turned off? And will it happen in the final IIS it will run on?

View 1 RepliesI have a folder with a web site I'm developing which is connected to a database.Every time I move the folder to a different computer it's a pain when I have to move the database and change the connection string.
I've thought to use for the first time a database in the app_data folder and move all the database inside it.
Nevertheless, when I try to recreate all the tables in the new database for the first time with the query "create table ..." I get and error saying that "SQL CREATE TABLE" is not supported. Is there a way to manage this situation?
I need to do in order for me to have a *.dll file created but, what I want is just the *.dll file, I don't want to have the "*.refresh" and the "*.pdb" files, is this even possible? Or I forcely need to have more than one file when I'm generating dll files?
What I usually do when my dll is ready to be compile is to run the "Build Application" option inside Visual Studio then, I'll go to the app's folder and access "Bin/Released" but whenever I add the new "*.dll" in another project I ger three files instead of one (previously mentioned).

In order to be able to access classes from App_Class I need to add App_Code.dll reference to my unit testing project. Right now, I am doing like: publish website, which produce App_Code.dll. Then I added it to my unit testing project. This is very time consuming process: if I make any changes on under test class, I need to publish website to get App_Code.dll. It takes at lest 4 minutes to publish and get App-code.dll. If I have add the new App-code to my unit testing project, it takes about 1 to 2 minites. Is there an easier way toget App_Code.dll?
