C# - ActiveX Asks User To Install Every Time Page Loads
Feb 1, 2010
I think the title says it all, I have an activeX control, that ask the user if he want's to install it every single time the page loads (Even if it is already installed). Can anyone point me in the right direction? What I have tried so far:
Setting new Guids for the class & interface.
Changing interfaces names & method names.
Changing version number
Uninstalling and re-installing the activeX
In a page there is an activex control as well as a button whose onclick opens an ajax modal popup. The problem i face is that whenever the button is clicked the ajax pop up loads behind the activex control and thus it is hidden. So I am not able to use that control at all. I have not found a proper solution to this. I tried a solution where a browser check condition was removed from the ajaxtoolkit code. but no luck. Am using Ajax toolkit version 3.0.30512.1.
I've written an ASP.net site that requires the use of a 3rd party ActiveX control.
Everything works as expected however when a new user visits the page for the first time they do not get a firts time prompt to install the activeX control. (the yellow bar in IE).
i currently have an ASP.net website using framework 4.0 and Crystal reports 13 for visual studio 2010.
I have a report viewer on a page that when i run on my development machine it works fine but when i migrated to the production server
i faced a problem, when i press the pring button to display the print dialog, since i'm setting up the report viewer to work as ActiveX NOT PDF,
the loading window display and then nothing happens, there should be a popup or something that tells me i have to install the activex control but nothing appears,
even thought i closed all the popup blockers and allowed everthing thing in the security tab in the explorer.
I am trying to create a Question Bank application for one of our clients. What is the main challenge I am facing is a typical demand from the client. What they want is : Whenever users open this site a set of random numbers(range say 1 to 20) should be generated and questions with the QuestionID(column in a table in Database) according to the numbers would be displayed in the page. I have done it to some extent but, still not satisfied with it.
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { int[] n = new int[10]; int rn; bool Check = true; int[] n1 = new int[10]; Random rand = new Random(); n1[0] = rand.Next(1, 21); for (int i = 1; i < 10; i++) { rn = rand.Next(1, 21); for (int j = 0; j < n1.Length; j++) { if (n1[j] == rn) { Check = false; break; } else continue; } if (Check == true) n1[i] = rn; } for(int i=0;i<10;i++) Response.Write(n1[i] + " "); } }
I do long and slow query to get data to my GridView and I got lot of data, but when I'm changing page it loads as slow as at the start, it loads full data again and again, how to load data once and use paging without data loading?
I have 2-3 update panel in my page and i don't want to load chart every time when my page loads or button clicks etc. I put that in update panel with triggers means only some clicks should loads chart. but that chart gets loaded everytime. how to stop that from loading
I'm trying to use validation (probably utilising the CustomValidator in ASP.NET 2.0) that checks whether a user entered order id already exists in a database, then, if it does exist, display a prompt for the user to ask whether they want to overwrite the order or enter a different order number. I'm not sure how to do this. I know I can use client side validation for the user prompt, and server side validation to check the order number against the database, but I'm not sure how to put the two things together i.e. check the database then, if the order exists, ask the user whether they want to overwrite the current order or go back and enter a new order id.
Currently I have written the Activex Control for RFID USB reader and calling that one in ASP.NET web application. The Activex Control is working fine when I will give the full trust permission for particular IIS URL in
1. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration
4. Create a new code group, I named mine MyProject_FullTrust_Zone
5. Choose the URL condition type and specify the path on the network where the apps will be deployed.
6. Choose Use Existing permission set, and set it to Full Trust.
Alternative way of giving permission for an Activex Control is
1. Open Visual Studio Command Prompt
2. Run the command caspol -machine -addgroup 1. -site <ip address> FullTrust Doing this it works fine.
Whenever my web site will open, it will ask the user to give permission for the Activex Control using Allow or Cancel Button in browser. This type of functionality I have seen some web site which takes input from the user to allow the ActiveX Control.
I am streaming HTML content into a Literal control in an ASPX page, and am continually running into a problem where the page loads fine the first time I try it, then subsequent attempts fail to load.
The purpose of the aspx page is to act as a 'broker' to another process that produces streamed HTML output, which then needs to be resolved by the browser.
The reason I'm not just using HtmlTextWriter to stream out the code to the Response object is that the streamed HTML contains framesets, and I am forbidden from modifying that code in any way, so I must keep the streamed code intact. In spite of the fact that frameset HTML hardcoded into the ASPX file would work, it does NOT resolve streamed frameset code!
In any case, streaming into the literal (by creating a string that is assigned to the Literal's Text property) works just fine -- the FIRST time I load that page. If I exit the page, then try to reinstantiate, it FAILS, producing an empty HTML file (containing only "<HTML></HTML>").
So I have a RadPanelBar, and within that a RadTreeView. On a node click event I want so update some control.. for now I am just trying to update a textbox. It works fine except that the first time I click on a child node it takes a very long time to update the control.. Just a simple text change. I set a break point in my function and I noticed that it is taking long to fire the OnNodeClick event.. If I click a parent node in the tree view it loads fine on the first click. Also, after the first time I've clicked it.. it loads quickly.. If I refresh the page, it is slow on the first click again.. Is there something I am missing.. Is the structure of my HTML inappropriate for these AJAX calls? I feel like this is a really simple example that should work..
EDIT: I updated my code according to this article, [URL] , and the problem persisted... again it only happens the first time..
EDIT: Just to clarify, by updating according to that article, I mean that I removed all the tables and relative widths and replaced them with css positioning and fixed widths.. the problem only happens the first time.. and it only happens sometimes.. quite a few times i thought i solved the problem as it would start responding quickly.. but then after I change my .aspx and change it back (even to the exact same thing when it was working quickly).. I get the same problem..
EDIT: So, I removed the AJAX component.. and setup the control so that it does a PostBack.. and it still takes long to hit my break point.. so it seems that its not an AJAX issue... but for some reason my events are taking long to fire..
EDIT: So I followed the advice on this post and I used the webservices to do my binding and handle everything from the client side code.. All seemed to be ok until I decided that I wanted to return nodes from my webservice that could also be expanded.. So in my webservice I set the ExpandMode of my RadTreeNodeData object to Webservice.. and it renders the data correctly when I expand the child nodes.. However now I see the same problem from before where some calls take 20-30 seconds.. It takes 20-30 seconds to even hit the break point in my webservice.. Should I use the OnClientNodeExpand event instead?
I am trying to fire a Javascript call when an ASP.net user control to an aspx page. The Web site allows users to add user controls to a page (similar to adding a widget etc to a page like google widgets). But when the control is added the javascript does not fire, only if the page is refreshed will it fire the javascript. IF the next time the website is accessd and the controlis still there the javascript fires too.Do I need to use the RegisterClientScript method to register the call (setAutoTimer()) on the control load or OnPreRender event. In the User control I have this at the start of the ascx file:
Is there a way to get the page that the user has come from on my own site 100% of the time, there are no querystrings. so if they have clicked through from homepage or a category page I could get the url of the previous page.
The problem with my web application is when ever i load the home page - The master page as well as content page loads ---This seems fine but when i navigate thorugh the website which have the same Master page but diffrent content page .... the master page loads again. What i want to do is ..I want to keep the master page intact and only the content page loads. How can I accomplish it..
i have seen many site where individual web parts load with busy icon when page loads. without using web parts how can develop a page where individual section will load with busy icon when page loads.
I have an application where I make advanced engineering/science calculations.
The application consists of 25 equal calculation "lines" which I have made as user controls:
web form:
Code:
[code]....
However the performance is quite bad because each line load from a database. Each line becomes visible when the last line has been clicked so I only need in fact 2 lines to be loaded at the beginning.
Can I make a smart code where the next user controls loads instead of the HTML that I have made, where all 25 lines appears and loads but are not visible until the line before has been used?
So I have written as part of an application some code that on my clients website pulls some information from SQL server and uses it to create a new file using a Word with bookmarks as a template. It works fine on my development machine, but not on my production server with the error: "Cannot create ActiveX component.: Word.Application". Now I have been approaching this as if it is an issue with Office, but it occurred to me that this might be another issue. Maybe some security issue with ASP.NET? My original thought was it was some kind of compatibly problem as I had Office 2007 on my machine and 2010 on the server.
Code: Protected Sub btnCreate_Click(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCreate.Click Dim objWord As Object Dim objDoc As Object Dim strContractFile As String = "~Documents" & txtContractFile.Text Dim strContractFilePath As String = Server.MapPath(strContractFile)
I have a master page 'Master1' and i have used a content place holder 'content1' and loads pages 'Page1' and 'page2' in the 'content1'. Is there any way to identify which page is loaded to the content place holder whether it is 'Page1' or 'Page2' dynamically.
Got this question, probably simple to most people but I only just started using visual studio 2008 with c#
Create a 'contact us' web page (form) for your photocopier repair company that links dynamically depending on the current time. The linked pages should give details of support engineer contacts for different regions, during normal working hours and when the offices are closed.
You should use the HyperLink control to link to different pages (depending on the time of day.) At or after 5:00 p.m., the HyperLink control links to a page named AfterHoursHelp.aspx and before 5:00 p.m., it links to OfficeHoursHelp.aspx.
I have a control in a 'window control library' which handles - 'drag and drop' files from computer to a listbox control, I then reference this .dll in .aspx (See code below). Now, when i try to access this through webserver for drag and drop files i get following errror - The type of the first permission that failed was : System.Security.Permission.FileIOPermission.
How do I handle this, so that drag and drop of files can happen over the webpage residing at webserver.
have an ASP.Net 2.0 (VB) application which connects (SQL Authentication) to SQL Server 2008. I publish the application to our intranet. The start page is frmMain.aspx. I RDP to a "neutral" PC (one like our users have) and the site loads fine the first time in. The users cannot bring up this application, however (it does not load--times out). They have been able to run this application before from this same intranet location and have not had problems. I have re-published the site, but this behavior continues.
