C# - Automatically Create Directories From Long Paths?
Oct 27, 2010
I have a collection of files with fully qualified paths (root/test/thing1/thing2/file.txt). I want to foreach over this collection and drop the file into the location defined in the path, however, if certain directories don't exist, I want them to great created automatically. My program has a default "drop location", such as z:/. The "drop location" starts off empty, so in my example above, the first item should automatically create the directories needed to create z:/root/test/thing1/thing2/file.txt. How can I do this?
I'm developing an ASP.NET Website locally using Web Developer Express Edition and publish my site via ftp to the remote host. Problem: Locally I'm using path settings to xml files etc. different from the remote paths. So each time before I publish my site I have to set the remote paths explicitely commenting out the specific lines of code.
I am wanting to create a path somewhat like this: /Administration/News and have it forward to a News controller instead of it being the action. How would I go about this?
I'm trying to enumerate the directories and sub directories in a Windows Form using a Tree View. I can view the directories but when I want to see the files in the sub directories I only see the files from the root.
My asp.net web application knows how to create sub-applications (asp.net applications with web.config file, located in sub folders of the root application).
Now, I need to configure each sub-application in the IIS with a Virtual Directory, AND, make this new virtual directory an application in a specified application pool.
we want all these requests to point back to www.site.com and not have to physically create the files and directories for every type of site... so if I just create a virtual directory (www.site.com/india) and point it to www.site.com... then I figure I can look at the URL and set some parameters/text/images accordingly to fill out the template
I've developed a web application to accept video file uploads and then pass them to a backend service on an external server. The application runs without error on the visual studio debugging webserver, but once on a production iis 6 or 7 server, yields a timeout error at about a consistent amount of time into handling a large upload. Specifically, it errors in the middle of transferring the video file to the external server, once the application has successfully received it from the client. I'm aware of several timeouts to be configured related to the problem, and have done so. The application's web config has been tested with one or both of the following settings
<system.web> <httpRuntime executionTimeout="9999999" maxRequestLength="2048000" /> </system.web> and <configuration> <location path="default.aspx"> (the page at issue that's timing out) <system.web> <httpRuntime executionTimeout="9999999" maxRequestLength="2048000" /> </system.web> </location> </configuration>
And within the initialization of the webrequest made to the external server to send the video received from the client browser:
So with the execution time limits on both the webform as a whole and the connection made to the external server, I'm at a loss for what timeout is left unconfigured, or how to determine such, when I continue to get the following error: Unexpected error executing Brightcove Upload:...........................
to create an image from some data in my database on the server every 5 minutes. The image path is Images/top5.jpg, so that users can place a link to that imagine on some forum or whatever and it will update every 5 minutes.I am doing this by using a
System.Threading.Timer in Global.asax: vb.net Code: Public Class Global_asax Inherits System.Web.HttpApplication Dim path As String Dim timer As System.Threading.Timer Sub Application_Start(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) [code]...
I am building a social networking site for employees and where an employee can sign up and create a profile and enter job employment history, interests etc. into text boxs and a aspx. page will be created showing all their details. Then in a data grid a preview of their profile would be shown allowing a user to click on that field which would direct them to that persons profile.
I am finding it hard to find information on how to automatically create a profile for each user that signs up.
We are currently updating our policy page on our intranet. Currently the page is written in ASP and connects to an Excel spreadsheet that serves as an index, which contains policy name and number. We also have a directory that contains all of the policiesnamed the policy number. The control that is currently being used will get all of the policies listed in the index and create links for them. We do not have to manually create the hundreds of links we just update the index. Does anyone have an idea of a control or a way I can accomplish this in asp.net?
I am trying to create a progress bar for page load as it takes long to load. I need help to resolve jscript error 'null' is null or not an object on line $get("btn").click();
I'm looking to create a webpage that will reflect the status of one of my company's servers automatically. Frequently there will be a minor error that only lasts 2-3 minutes, and it would be great to have this reflected on a self-generated page, which might prevent 50-60 unhappy clients from calling in simultaneously and asking what's wrongI'm not quite sure where to begin I'm not referring to the basics of writing an ASP.NET page, of course, but rather process interaction in Windows.
I'm trying to create a series of text boxes on my page that automatically got to the next when the end is reached. Like inputting a product key. I can't find a Auto Exit function, is it possible?
When we double click to page It creates an empty Page_Load event codeblock automatically. Or you know can create other control's event subroutine events by clicking the relevant event in properties window.
but how can we create a Page_Init ? is there an automatic way ? or should we just write its name and parametes manually is the only way ?
Iam new to ASP.NET and poking around my first ASP Web Application projects in .NET 4.0 I have problem, which I can't solve, and google searches does not bring any joy. So I would ask for and/or explanation of following problem:
Assume that I have set up following project structure:
I have the following code, which generates insert queries
For Each f As String In Directory.GetFiles(d) objSQLStringBuilder.Append("insert into table1 (full_path, file_name) values ('" & f.Replace("'", "''") & "', '" & f.Remove(0, Len(d) + 1).Replace("'", "''") & "');") Next
However, the paths which it finds are formatted as follows c:program filesmicrosoft officewinword.exe I need to format the paths as follows file:///c:/program%20files/microosoft%20office/winword.exe. How can I modify the above code to do this?
Every time I create a new aspx page and add some new photos and text, after I finish, I have to update page title, Web.sitemap, Sitemap.xml to feed search engines, static sitemap.aspx page, add photos to proper folders, update database to display feeds etc, and I have to remember to upload all new files including links to any new pdfs....This routine eats my time and drives me crazy.
I was wondering if there is such interface, where you need to create only 1 aspx page, for example "Articles" which can populate Texts, photos etc into pre-defined sections, but at the same time it displays with different URL's, so there is a permanent link to it. After you finish it creates a title automatically, based on article title, populates Web.sitemap - does all the dirty work. Similar to how blog engines, Joomla and Drupal work.

This is in class file Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic Imports System.IO Imports System.Collections.Generic Public Class FileSrch '' File Search Options Public Enum FileSearchOptions YearFirst MonthFirst DateinExtension NormalFiles End Enum Public Shared Function GetSearchcriteria(ByVal DatetoSearchwith As Date, ByVal Filename As String, ByVal FileExtension As String, ByVal SearchOptions As FileSearchOptions) Select Case SearchOptions Case FileSearchOptions.YearFirst Return String.Format("{0}_{1:yyyyMMdd}{2}", Filename, DatetoSearchwith, FileExtension) Exit Select Case FileSearchOptions.MonthFirst Return String.Format("{0}_{1:yyyyMMdd}{2}", Filename, DatetoSearchwith, FileExtension) Exit Select Case FileSearchOptions.NormalFiles Return String.Format(Filename + FileExtension) Case FileSearchOptions.DateinExtension Dim ExtensionFormat As String = (Convert.ToInt32(DatetoSearchwith.ToString("mm")).ToString() & DatetoSearchwith.ToString("dd")) '' Month in Double Digit If DatetoSearchwith.Month > 9 Then ExtensionFormat = (DatetoSearchwith.ToString("mmm")(0) & DatetoSearchwith.ToString("dd")) End If Return String.Format("{0}.{1}", Filename, ExtensionFormat) Case Else Return String.Format("{0}.{1}", Filename, FileExtension) End Select End Function Public Shared Function GetFiles(ByVal RootDirectory As DirectoryInfo, ByVal Filename As String, ByVal FileExtension As String, ByVal DatetoSearchwith As Date) As List(Of FileInfo) Dim FiFiles As New List(Of FileInfo) For Each DateOption As FileSrch.FileSearchOptions In [Enum].GetValues(GetType(FileSrch.FileSearchOptions)) FiFiles.AddRange(RootDirectory.GetFiles(FileSrch.GetSearchcriteria(DatetoSearchwith, Filename, FileExtension, DateOption), SearchOption.AllDirectories)) Next Return FiFiles End Function End Class This in Button Click Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim FileName As String ' Dim fileName As String = txtextension.Text.Trim().Substring(0, txtextension.Text.Trim().IndexOf(".")) Now,we need to address the following things in that to complete req, 1) If I enter filename_mmddyyyy.txt it should fetch only files having current date in their name in mmddyyyy format. For eg. If I give test_mmddyyyy.txt in txtextension it should return only files with test_10222010.txt and not thee ones with yyyymmdd and all...Right now I am getting all the files created in the current date including the one with ordinary test.txt and also test_20101022.txt .......And the third thing filename.mdd everything is getting passed correctly but it is not fetching the file ..Again test,test_20101022.txt everything comes. It shouldn't be like that it should only fetch files with .mdd (current date)....
In my above code i have two text boxes one for file path and other one for getting extension and also for gettting file names with diff search criteria.....What i do is i should implement file search which is like as mentioned below -
1) it should search for all files if i enter *.*,only jpg if *.jpg, and files like nks.txt if i enter ?
2) if i enter the filename alone without extn it should return me filenames that exist without extension in directories. 3) the final thing is the date in filename where my file will be like filename_mmddyyyy.txt or filename_yyyymmdd.txt or filename.mdd.In first case it should return only files with current date in mmddyyyy format and txt extn....like taht....last case is mdd in extn...
where if i enter filename.123,it sould get me files with jan 23(23 currnt date) and for months greater than 9 it is N for nov ,D for dec and so on.But in m,ytext box i will enter only file.mdd only .and also filename_mmddyyyy.jpg like that....
