C# - Cache-Control HTTP Header Does Work Properly?

Mar 22, 2011

I am having issue with cache-control. I have one IIS website with multiple host headers. When you browse site number 1 then cache will be set for this site, when you open browser again and go to 2nd site you will see content from first site. How can I determine cache content based on the site user visits? Everything working fine when you have 1 site and host header related to SAME site.

//Set Cacheability
if (!Context.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated && _activeNode.CacheDuration > 0)
{
var eTag = GetETag(_activeNode);
HttpContext.Current.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public);

Architecture :: Cache The Full List Of Objects In Http Cache On The Service Tier And Page In Memory?

Feb 25, 2011

We have a wfc layer that wraps the business classes and database access and use a client that lives on the database layer. Amongst our group we are attempting to form standards. Some want to have the client call the web method and pass the page they are requesting and the page size. Pass that to the database and then page in SQL Server use RowNum.Some want to cache the full list of objects in http cache on the service tier and page in memory. They concern here is memory use on the server.

Which would be best for a medium number of users with potentially large number of records to manage (say 30K) Is it better to cache them all in memory and work from there or page at the database as the application scales?

Is The Cache Independent For Each Host Header Set In IIS7

Dec 22, 2010

I have a site that dynamically loads website contents based on domain host name, served from IIS7. All of the domains share a cached collection of settings. The settings are being flushed from the cache on almost every page request, it seems. This is verified by logging the times at which the Cache value is null and reloaded from SQL. This codes works as expected on other servers and sites. Is it possible that ASP.NET Cache is being stored separately for each domain host name?

C# - Invalidating The HTTP Cache On Read Only Front Servers?

Mar 24, 2010

We have a CMS system and in the production mode a number of servers only have read-only access to the content (with a few exceptions) and the editors for the site work on the content on servers behind it (which are not available to the public).

We're caching the content quite a long time on the front servers, but sometimes we want the content the editors publish to be available for visitors instantly. What is best practice for invalidating the cache in those cases?

Pass Value From One App To Another Via HTTP Header?

Jun 15, 2010

We are implementing a single sign on mechanism in an enterprise environment, where the token is shared between applications using HTTP header. Now, in order to do the integration test, I need to write an application to simulate this. Is there any way in ASP.NET where I can redirect to another web-page and pass a custom HTTP header in the process?

Http - FireFox 3.6.8 Not Cache Static Contents From .net Developer Server?

Aug 19, 2010

I am working on a asp.net web site, like normal user, we use asp.net developer server during coding and testing.Today, I found the firefox not cache any static file of my site, since our application is pretty big, it made page load time very slow.I checked firefox about:cache, all the static file cache setting looks like

Key: http://localhost:26851/App_Layout/icons/actions/email/folder.png
Data size: 871 bytes
Fetch count: 1[code]...

The expires date is set back to 1969-12-31, I believe that's the reason why they are loaded very time.I am using Visual studio 2008, windows 7 machine. The application works fine in IE, the contents are properly cached.

Response - Get Custom Http Header?

May 14, 2010

I have an asp.net appliction on the one server. There I've added code on server-side in Page_Load:

Response.AddHeader("key", "password-key-from-hotel");

On the client side I have a form:
<form ... action="www.link-to-another-domaint" >
<input type="hidden" id="asd" value="fgh" >
....
</form>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.forms[0].submit();
</script>

Then on the other domain - there is also my other application - I'm trying to get the hedaer "key" by this code:

Request.Headers["key"].ToString();

But there is no such header. Is there is a desicion? Where is my mistake?

IIS7 Rewrite - Strip HTTP Header?

Apr 1, 2010

Is it at all possible to use IIS7's rewrite capability in web.config to strip a particular HTTP header from a client request?We have an application that makes an HTTP POST to our website, and apparently the request contains the HTTP Expect header. Previously this was not a problem, but we've switched hosts and now the site is returning HTTP error 417 Expectation failed. So the real solution is to fix the software so it doesn't send the Expect header, but that can't happen soon enough for the folks in charge, who'd like to come up with an immediate web-based fix.I've used ISAPI_Rewrite before and I've read that it can strip a header, and the new host claimed they had ISAPI installed... but that seems to have been a lie, as I cannot get it to work, and support's only response on the subject is "use IIS7 Rewrite instead."

Does The SessionState Attribute In MVC 3 Work Properly

Feb 11, 2011

I'm managing a rather large project, written in asp.net webforms + mvc3, with a large user base, and a pretty high daily visitor count. Basically, there are a lot of requests at any given moment.

One of my controllers in MVC that handles / resizes images on the fly has the following attribute applied to it:

[SessionState(SessionStateBehavior.Disabled)]

Now, if an action in the controller tries to access the session - it obviously throws an exception - so we're good so far. The problem is: if I go to the IIS Worker Processes window (Win Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5), and check the current requests for this site, I can sometimes see the requests to an action in this controller. Their current state is locked in State: RequestAcquireState, Module Name: Session. Sometimes these locks go over a second or two in this state.

Wasn't the whole point of the attribute in the first place to make the requests to the controller ignore the state, and not waste time (and possibly being locked) trying to acquire the state? If this is so - am I doing something wrong here, or does the problem lie elsewhere?

protected void lbtnSpecificTopic1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e){ Server.Transfer("~/SpecificTopic.aspx)"
}

But when I press on the link in run time, the caller doesn't go to the EventHandler method.Why?

Note,

I wrote code like that in many pages in the same website but it work only in one page.

On the specified time grid data is refreshed.

Everytime this happens we see a new warning in the EventLog.
