I have label within a DetailsView. I need to change Text property of this Label inside the DetailsView after event ItemInserted has been trigged.
Script does not throws any error, but the Label does not change its text property.

I have a component which is listening a server from TCP/IP.
When somebody connects to the system my component's Connected event is fired.
I want to write to a label when this event is fired without postback.
I used UpdatePanel. And I know about AsyncPostBackTrigger.
But my component is not a visual component. So I declared in codebehind. So I can not use AsyncPostBackTrigger.
How can I set my label.text value when component's event runs.
I'm trying to change a Label's text property and colour properties depending if an event occurs on the page behind file.
Does anyone have a similar issue?

I have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".

I'd rather not make a call to the database to query @@IDENTITY. Is there some way to get the identity value for what was just inserted through code?

I click on button which I execute code that I expect to update the text but it doesn't work. Something like Textbox1.text = "Hello" Are there page level properties/settings I should look at? I am perplexed an looking for a place to start. I will provide more information as needed. I just don't know where to start.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to programmatically set some lables inside a DetailsView that is populated by an ObjectDataSource. The detailsview is handled in an unusual way with one TemplateField that has one ItemTemplate that has one table that has two rows of significance and a boatload of bound items. I'll be working on the EditTemplate next. But now I need to set the top row lable values programmatically baised on the type of data that comes-up. I have scoured the Internet looking for ideas and found two possible approaches - neither worked. I get the error about something not being set to an instance of the object - or something like that.

I've got a FormView control on a page. Its default mode is insert, since the intent is to have the user enter a record, save it, and then do something else. I've written a stored procedure to insert all of the data into 5 tables. 1 of the columns inserted is default, in SQL Server 2005, as an INT column, which is an IDENTITY column. After it inserts the record into the primary table, using a secondary stored procedure, it retrieves the newly created INT value, and then the primary stored procedure inserts records, using the new INT, into the other 4 tables. This is working fine. The primary stored procedure, which is called by the SqlDataSource on my .aspx page, defines this parameter as an output parameter:

In the FormView's ItemInserted event I'm trying to get the value from the FormViewInsertedEventArgs e parameter like this: [Code]....
However, the result returned is 0. Huh? That cannot be, because the new INT value created is something like 145000. Why am I then seeing a value of 0?
I have a formview that use the formview iteminserted event. The information inserts into the formview fine, but all cells blank out after the insert. How can I make it so I can show all the values I have inserted show up in the formview after the inteminsertedevent?

View 2 RepliesI have a textbox with autopostback=true and a button to save the data in the form. Functionality works fine when entering a value in the textbox, tabbing out of the textbox and clicking on the save button. But issue comes up when entering a value in the textbox and directly clicking on the save button without tabbing out of the text box. In the second scenario, only textchanged event fires and save click event dosen't fire. What I was expecting was after exection of textchanged event, save click event should also fire. But this is not happening.
View 5 RepliesI have a form setup with a drop down list, a label and a button. The dropdown list is populated from an XML file and the label is initially filled in blank. The label text changes depending on the drop down box selected item and as I didn't want to have to cause the page to post back each time the user selected a new user item I set the label text in JavaScript using the .innerHTML property.
However whenever I submit the form the label text doesn't get passed through properly it always outputs "". As a test I tried setting the label to a default value in ASP.NET and as expected the result that gets passed through is the default text property.
So it seems that it doesn't like JavaScript setting the text property of the label control (which renders as span). Is there a way for C# to read the innerHTML property of the field?
I have a 2 tabpanels in my tabcontainer and both the panel has their own header text. I have put the tabcontainer inside a table. Above the table (OR tabcontainer) I have a label and what I am trying to do is ... changing the label text as per tab selection ... code below:

But this is not working ... even if I select the panel2 my label displays the same text as panel1 header text ... it's not changing as I want.
I have placed a list box and a text box with Selected Index Changed and Text Changed event repectively in an aspx page. Now If I write somthing in text box and then with out clicking elsewhere select a value in list box, then first Text Changed event of text box is called then selected Index Change event of list box is called. After that again Text Change event of text box is called. Can any body give some insight why this happening? Below is the .aspx code:

In the login page i create a connection with my local database. To test my login-routine i want to change te text of a label.

I tried this technique as suggested on another forum and a couple of other things, suggested on SitePoint as well as others but to no avail. Im trying to find the Label in the repeater to display information depending on the output. However I was presented with the following error:

I'm trying to access the Label, in the repeater, so that depending on if the text origionally displays true or false (as the label grabs the 'bit' datatype for that record to display) to then change the text to something more appropriate (completed/outstanding) - if at all possible.

What is the best way to change the text of that label on the user control from the .aspx page?
