C# - How To Enable Access To Application Variables Inside A Web Service
Dec 15, 2010
I know I can allow the web service access to Session variables by adding (EnableSession=true). Is there a way to allow it access to global Application variables?
I have several resource intensive variables that are loaded in the Global.asax and I need access to there in the webservice.
In my ASP.net website we are going to use Silverlight to display some interactive diagrams. The users can add, edit and delete various diagrams on the silverlight front end. Silverlight will call Web Service methods to save the changes into the database. Besides the data being passed by silverlight to web service call, we also need to pass some data from the session (like logged on user id etc.) to the web service call.
My question is that how silverlight can access session data? I am trying to pass session information via a webservice method call over to Silverlight but, the session variables inside the web service methods are returning null value.
The Web Service is running under the same web root where the ASP.net website using Silverlight is also hosted. I have made EnableSession = True for web properties.
I am working with Google maps api V3. I need to get the values of the getSouthWest & getNorthEast bounds of my map. To do this the 'bounds_changed' event needs to be fired in order to get the new values. This is all good, however, I need to access these values from outside the event and passed to a server side function (more specifically, I don't want to call my server side function every time the map bounds are changed).
My code is:
//Global var sw, nw, Searchbounds; function myFunc(){ google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'bounds_changed', function() { Searchbounds = map.getBounds(); sw = Searchbounds.getSouthWest(); ne = Searchbounds.getNorthEast(); }); CallServerSideWebService(sw.lat(), ne.lng(), ne.lat(), ne.lng()); }
When executing this code I get the error message sw is undefined.
What is the recommended or usual way an ASP.net web application(in C# language) can store/access values that are needed accross the various pages in a website. For example a basic company website might need the company's name and other related information available to multiple pages. Where do I declare these variables/values and how do I access them. Coming from c++ application programming I would usually store such data in a Singleton class object.
I have a silverlight application that uses WCF service and i need to provide windows authentication using wcf.In order to achieve this i am trying to retrieve the client's credentials (windows credentials)inside wcf.
I am trying to deploy an asp.net MVC and a WCF service in a single website. The root site is the MVC application and i am going to run the WCF as a virtual directory of the site. However the service cant be accessed since the routing of the MVC would not relay the request to the service. It would say "Page not Found".
http://PC:9000 <- root of mvc application
I have a virtual directory for the wcf named "wcf",
http://pc:9000/wcf/service.svc <- should have accessed the service but routes of the mvc intervened and will display page not found.
how to make this work? How would i ignore the routing if the call is for the service?
Trying to figure out how to programmatically access the web pages in the application. Just something simple like a list of them would be awesome. I know I can create a list but I was wondering if there was something that could 'look' at the pages and add a new one to the list if you make a new page for the application.
Example with 7 pages:
Error Default Login Content Users ContactUs Admin
I am half awake so I may be a little unclear. Maybe puting it all in a single question will be easier.
How do you autogenerate a list of all webpages in your current application?
I need to keep access settings to different web pages inside of my asp.net application. These setting are logins and passwords for those pages. Is it safe enough to keep them in web.config in section?
I am thinking to create a web service for a SQLDB, I have created a simple database with two three tables tbldestination, tblflights and tblbooking.my big problem is how can i enable my database to be accessed through web service?
I did a couple google searches about this and am not finding anything, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm working on our internal CMS and I noticed that we're getting live data back when doing debugging because of our web services instead of the dev data that I wanted. It doesn't do this on our dev CMS website, but we're trying to do all our development on localhost. Is there any way to set up an environment variable in our web config for the URL so that the CMS points to the dev database instead of live database that is referenced in the wsdl files?
I have just started building an asp.net web service with visual studio 2005. However whenever i try and run the site i get this message, saying "debugging failed because integrated windows authentication is not enabled". I am at a loss of how to correct this problem.
I am having with asp.net app inside of SharePoint (as page viewer).
When the Default page is loaded, it works fine. However, when I try to go to next page, i am getting a null reference exception. It looks like my session variables are becoming null on the next page (even though I set them on the previous page). Here are a couple things that I tried to diagnose the problem.
I try on the couple other computers; some work fine, some still don'ts. In the property of the page viewer inside of the SharePoint, after I click on the "Test link", it started to work fine until the session expired (on the computer didn't work initially).
I am not sure if there are settings that I need to check on the browser or the app server.
I have a checkbox together with a listbox displaying all countries inside edititemtemplate of detailsview. What I tried to achieve is that if the user checks checkbox then listbox will be disabled and vice versa.
Here is my code
[Code]....
When I run the page, the listbox was truely enabled when I unchecked the checkbox. But when I tried to update on the server side the listbox is still disabled and couldn't find the selected items.
One small doubt in the way it works for C#Where does local variables of a method inside a class get stored?Heap? - If yes, then why do we have to explicitly initiate them?Stack?- Then how does the allocation of them takes place once we make a object of the same class using new - would it make the member variables of class to be allocated on heap and local variables of member functions (of the same class) on stack.
I want to reference a variable inside an html element without having to use an asp lable. for example at the start of the page I grab the current year and then inside a paragraph html tag I want to output this. I have tried using <%# year%> and <%=year%> but I get an error. Here is the code
I use asp.net (webforms flavour) for the server coding. Let's say that I stored a variable called "test" inside the Session object.Is there a way to grab its content inside the javascript js file (I use Jquery). Currently, I use the following workaround - in my aspx.cs file I populate a hidden field, then in Jquery I grab the contents of that field.What is the proper way to do that?I tried to expose the session through a web method and using $ajax function to get the value on the Jquery side, but I am getting security error - "permission denied" - no additional explanation offered.My workaround works fine, but to me it seems rather clunky. What are the common ways to achieve session access in Jquery?
The first command is to disable an exchange mailbox and the second enables the mailbox. I am logged in as a user who is in the Organization Management group which has full admin priviledges to Exchange but is not a domain admin. If I run these commands directly in Powershell, they work fine but they do not work when called from C#.
I created a very simple windows forms app that has a couple of buttons that invokes these commands from C# code. Running the app as the user with full Exchange right, most commands work with no problem such as get-mailbox -identity 'dadelgad'. I can set flags in Exchange, add alias emails and do most functions but I cannot disable or enable an account.Do I need to be a domain admin to do these functions. It almost seems like a permission issue but the user has full rights to Exchange and can perform both of these commands directly in Powershell.
I cant figure out how to use the Application["myvar"] variable to store data for the application in asp.net 4.0 web app using c#. It say Application is not a known object and I can't for the life of me figure what to do a "using" on to expose it. I am in a static class at the time I cant use it. It seems to work in other units?
I am trying to create Web Application using ASP.Net via Visual Studio 2010. The Database that I use is Access, with connection Method OleDb
When using the query "Update" or "Delete", the programs shows no errors, but the data in Access does not change. While for query "Select" and "Insert", the data is displayed and inserted successfully.
The Following code is the sample query "Delete" that I used..
Code: Imports System.Data.OleDb Partial Class frmTEst Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
[Code] ....
Previously I tried a direct query using AccessDataSource, but the result just the same, Update and Delete can't be done. But the Select and Insert can be executed successfully.
Is there any problem with my Access configuration or whether the problem is in the coding itself..?
I have a collection of cookies filled with Browserhawk information in masterpage.master.vb such as;
Dim useCSS as boolean = 0 Response.Cookies("Stylesheets").Value = brHawk.Stylesheets if Response.Cookies("Stylesheets") = True then useCSS = 1 if Stylesheets is True I set useCSS to 1, if false I set useCSS to 0
I need to access these in the section of the masterpage.master such as;
if useCSS = true Then load stylesheet else Dont load stylesheet
I'm having problems finding the right syntax to get this working.
