ADO.NET :: How To Replace The Field Names In SQL Query String With Variables

Aug 17, 2010

How can I replace the field names in sql query string with variables like:-

string field1="ID";
string field2="Name";
sql = "Insert into [Sheet1$] ('" + field1 + "','" + field2 + "') values('1','abc')";

I am inserting data into an Excel document which has got nearly 100 columns.

I am inserting data using OLEDB as follows:-

System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection MyConnection ;
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand myCommand = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand();
string sql = null;
MyConnection = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connectionstring);
MyConnection.Open();
myCommand.Connection = MyConnection;
sql = "Insert into [Sheet1$] (ID,Name) values('1','abc')";
myCommand.CommandText = sql;
myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery();
MyConnection.Close();

I want to specify the field names at runtime as mentioned above - sql = "Insert into [Sheet1$] ('" + field1 + "','" + field2 + "') values('1','abc')"; When I try this I am getting error.

Session Variables Inside Of SharePoint?

Oct 26, 2010

I am having with asp.net app inside of SharePoint (as page viewer).

When the Default page is loaded, it works fine. However, when I try to go to next page, i am getting a null reference exception. It looks like my session variables are becoming null on the next page (even though I set them on the previous page). Here are a couple things that I tried to diagnose the problem.

I try on the couple other computers; some work fine, some still don'ts. In the property of the page viewer inside of the SharePoint, after I click on the "Test link", it started to work fine until the session expired (on the computer didn't work initially).

I am not sure if there are settings that I need to check on the browser or the app server.

Local Variables Of A Method Inside A Class?

Mar 5, 2010

One small doubt in the way it works for C#Where does local variables of a method inside a class get stored?Heap? - If yes, then why do we have to explicitly initiate them?Stack?- Then how does the allocation of them takes place once we make a object of the same class using new - would it make the member variables of class to be allocated on heap and local variables of member functions (of the same class) on stack.

Capturing Session Variables Inside Jquery Code?

Nov 30, 2010

I use asp.net (webforms flavour) for the server coding. Let's say that I stored a variable called "test" inside the Session object.Is there a way to grab its content inside the javascript js file (I use Jquery). Currently, I use the following workaround - in my aspx.cs file I populate a hidden field, then in Jquery I grab the contents of that field.What is the proper way to do that?I tried to expose the session through a web method and using $ajax function to get the value on the Jquery side, but I am getting security error - "permission denied" - no additional explanation offered.My workaround works fine, but to me it seems rather clunky. What are the common ways to achieve session access in Jquery?

Javascript - Access Global Variables That Are Set Inside An Event Listener?

Dec 18, 2010

I am working with Google maps api V3. I need to get the values of the getSouthWest & getNorthEast bounds of my map. To do this the 'bounds_changed' event needs to be fired in order to get the new values. This is all good, however, I need to access these values from outside the event and passed to a server side function (more specifically, I don't want to call my server side function every time the map bounds are changed).

My code is:

//Global
var sw, nw, Searchbounds;
function myFunc(){
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'bounds_changed', function() {
Searchbounds = map.getBounds();
sw = Searchbounds.getSouthWest();
ne = Searchbounds.getNorthEast();
});
CallServerSideWebService(sw.lat(), ne.lng(), ne.lat(), ne.lng());
}

When executing this code I get the error message sw is undefined.

Insert Multiple Records In One Query?

Feb 2, 2010

I am trying to insert about 100,000 in my SQL Server database. It is really slow when I create 100,000 separate queries, so I tried to insert all these records in one query, it worked for the first few thousands records but then it threw me a timeout error.

What would be the fastest way to insert multiple records into database?

Insert An Empty Record Using LINQ Query?

Apr 10, 2010

I have a LINQ query like this:

var query1 = from x in db.FaqCategories select new { x.CategoryId, x.Category };

What I would like to get is a query with an empty record

var empty = new {CategoryId="", Category=""};

on the very top of query1. I think this can be accomplished by using the union operator, just don't know how.

Access :: Insert Query Due To Database Relations

Jan 8, 2010

i have a problem executing an insert query. whenever i try to insert i have an exeption telling me it cant execute because a record needed in another table; where i select a value form that other table according a listbox, and then insert it into this table. here is a sample of my code:

OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=|DataDirectory|emp2.mdb");

int a = 0;
conn.Open();
string sqlcmd = "select id from nationality where descreption = '" + DropDownList1.Text + "'";
OleDbCommand readNatCmd = new OleDbCommand(sqlcmd, conn);
OleDbDataReader readerNat = readNatCmd.ExecuteReader();
while (readerNat.Read())
{
a = readerNat.GetInt32(0);
}
readerNat.Close();
conn.Close();
string saveEmpcmd = @"insert into employee " + "(nationality) " + "values (@nationality)";
OleDbCommand objCmd = new OleDbCommand(saveEmpcmd, conn);
objCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@nationality", a);
conn.Open();
objCmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
conn.Close();

now, the form executes with no errors, but it catches an exeption caused by the ExecuteNonQuery funtion; here it is in details:

System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table 'nationality'. at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteCommandTextErrorHandling(OleDbHResult hr) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteCommandTextForSingleResult(tagDBPARAMS
dbParams, Object& executeResult) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteCommandText(Object& executeResult) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteCommand(CommandBehavior behavior, Object& executeResult) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteReaderInternal(CommandBehavior
behavior, String method) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Default2.Button1_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005WebSitesempDefault2.aspx.cs:line 305

when i remove the relation between the tables, the exeption isnt catched anymore, but the value stored in the employee table is 0 how can i solve this?

Insert And Query A DateTime Object In SQLite DB From C#?

Mar 17, 2010

Consider this snippet of code:

string sDate = string.Format("{0:u}", this.Date);
Conn.Open();
Command.CommandText = "INSERT INTO TRADES VALUES(" + """ + this.Date + """ + "," +this.ATR + "," + """ + this.BIAS + """ + ")";
Command.ExecuteNonQuery();

Note the "this.Date" part of the command. Now Date is an abject of type DateTime of C# environment, the DB doesnt store it(somewhere in SQLite forum, it was written that ADO.NET wrapper automatically converts DateTime type to ISO1806 format)

But instead of this.Date when I use sDate (shown in the first line) then it stores properly.

My probem actually doesnt end here. Even if I use "sDate", I have to retrieve it through a query. And that is creating the problem

Any query of this format

SELECT * FROM <Table_Name> WHERE DATES = "YYYY-MM-DD"

returns nothing, whereas replacing '=' with '>' or '<' returns right results.

So my point is:

How do I query for Date variables from SQLite Database.

And if there is a problem with the way I stored it (i.e non 1806 compliant), then how do I make it compliant
