I have the same issue, I have added the On before the Application start, or Session Start and it is still not working.Application_OnStart or Application_Start is not firingSession_OnStart or Session_Start is not firing..Note that in my development environment it is firing (both of the names).When I am adding the Global.asax file, there is only one file (no .cs file). And when I am publishing the project, I am not getting the Global.asax file, I am getting a xxxxGlobal.asax.dll file on my bin folder...

The default port has been changed, and can no longer be not included in the URL due to technical reasons, so now i'm using a certain port in the end of the IP at the URL, for example
100.100.100.100/website.aspx
no longer works (which accessed 80 by default)
100.100.100.100:81/website.aspx
with the port, works.
Works, though I can't click in any link or anything and the port vanishes (new page doesn't load). Then I keep the same URL and just include the port at the end of the IP and it works again, until I click in another link inside of it.
I have access to changing each link, but I guess that would not be the right approach.
How should I procceed ?

All URL's are already relative, and the whole issue of this question is not applicable in IE, this only happens on other browsers.

The way I quickly test the asmx file is to "View in Browser" from Visual Studio (I'm using 2005, and have IIS 6). The address shows up like this:
"http://localhost:1399/MyWebService.asmx"
where 1399 is a generated random number and can change each time I test by this process.
The books I've been reading (as well as other sources in the internet) keep referring to testing web services by typing something like this in the browser:
"http://localhost/MyFolder/MyWebService.asmx"
where "MyWebService" is the name of the web service and "MyFolder" is where that webservice is.

When deploying using IIS a port number was attached to the localhost something like: [URL] then after deployment the website could be accessed from any other machine using the url. Recently VS2008, IIS and IE8 was installed. But now when I use IIS to deploy the app no port number is attached to the localhost which means that the app cannot be accessed
by another machine.
This is because of the default setting being installed. There is a way to go into properties and change the default settings to make IIS deploy the app with the port number. I am looking for someone to provide guidance as to whether the following solution is the prescribed way of going about this. Yesterday I started working on a problem that, at first blush, seemed pretty simple and straightforward. I need to pass a few parameters from an ASPX code-behind, which hosts a Silverlight object tag, to the code-behind of one, or more, of the Silverlight user controls within the hosted Silverlight application. So, after doing some research, this is the basic solution I developed.
I found out that an attribute can be added to the object tag called initParams, a comma delimited list of parameter names and values can be added to this attribute. Like so.

This is fine, except that the DealerId parameter is basically hard-coded in the object tag, not real useful. The next thing that I did was replace this object tag with a literal control, and set the text of the literal control within the page's code-behind to the value of a StringBuilder (where I built up the full object tag along with dynamically adding the correct DealerId value). In the following example, the DealerId is hard-coded, but you get the idea.

My goal, if this initial design is sane, is to then pull this object tag creation into a server control, which will have a DealerId property, which in turn will be set within the hosts code-behind. At this point, I have the host dynamically adding parameter values to the object tag's initParams attribute, the next step is to get these values and leverage them within the hosted Silverlight application. I found a few articles to help out with this; I'm creating a public dictionary within the App.xaml.cs, and setting it within the Application_Startup event.

a) Patrick, you're insane, why are you going through all this work when clearly in Silverlight you would accomplish this through the use of "xxxxxx".
b) Yeah, Patrick, it's a drag, but this design is basically what you have to do in Silverlight.
