MVC :: Short Hand Name Attribute For Controller?

Feb 1, 2010

I noticed the ActionNameAttribute lets you alias your controller methods. This is nice but I was curious if there was a comparable attribute for a controller name. Specifically, I have a controller with a lengthy name in c# world but would like to shorten / alias it in the actual URL. I was hoping for some kind of controllername attribute. Is there such a beast?

Get Some First Hand Accounts Regarding Reporting Toos That Have Used?

May 13, 2010

This week my team spent way too much time trying to do simple things in reporting services, and I've decided to start evaluating other options. I know there are some good options out there now that aren't too expensive. I've heard that Telerik, ActiveReports, and a few others are widely used.I was hoping to get some first hand accounts regarding reporting toos that you've used. Specifically, I definitely want to hear your thoughts about:Pain points and gotchas you ran into.Ease of use for report design. It's a little bizarre to me that Access still seems to hold the throne in this area!

C# - Extracting String Data - From The Right-hand Side?

Jan 8, 2010

In my code I will be presented with url strings to pages... All I want to do is to extract the page name, nothing else... (Example)

string page1 = "./default.aspx";
string page2 = "./subfolder/gallery.aspx";
string page3 = "./subfolder/anotherSubfolder/demo.aspx";

I've used the substring feature before, but I am struggling with this one since I only want the page names which are on the right hand side, I basically want to chop of everything else (folder paths).. all I want to end up with is default.aspx, gallery.aspx and demo.aspx

AJAX :: Accordion Inside Gridview Fetch Gridview Data When Expanding Accordion

Oct 27, 2010

using asp.net/vb.net 2005

I want to create an accordion inside a gridview with the following functionality:

The user will only see one field of the gridview initially, the ProductCategoryID. When the page loads it will only query the ProductCategoryID and this will be the only field displayed.

Next when the user clicks on the accordion to expand it inside the gridview I would like to query the database to get all Products that are part of the ProductCategory. I will query using the ProductCategoryID that is being displayed.

I need to do this for performance issues. The main thing I am looking for is how to query the database once the user expands a given ProductCategoryID.

but now I think of it one thing I need to know: when you bind an accordion to a dataset will it create one pane for each record returned? It might be better to put the gridview inside the accordion. I'm willing to do either, as long as it works

DataSource Controls :: Do I Need A Cursor For This

Mar 11, 2010

Running a select * from my table give me data like this:

Field1 Field2 Field3 Field4 Field5 Field6

NULL NULL NULL J 4GG4K C46D

DRIVE 0155 1 NULL W6665 NULL (C46D)

TEST 01444 5 NULL W4434 NULL (C46D)

NULL NULL NULL 1 WGG4K AAVE

HOME 01444 3 NULL 5HTYL NULL (AAVE)

NEW 09888 9 NULL 8HTTTE NULL (AAVE)

The problem is Field6 for the rows that are bolded. I need Field6 to repeat for each row until the next non null value is found in Field6, than I need that value to repeat again. I placed in parenthesis outside the NULL for Field6 what I need to show which is the value of Field6 above the records which Field6 is null.

I know this is confusing, but it's actually pretty simple to understand. I just need to get the first NON NULL value of Field6 and UPDATE the records below it where Field6 IS NULL to that value, then when it reached the next bolded row there is a new value for Field6, I then need to get that value and UPDATE the records below it which are null with the value.

.net - Where Does Standard ASP.NET Header Appear From?

Feb 8, 2011

I'm trying to debug one specific issue with ASP.NET application and I suppose the problem could be somewhere in the server configuration.

Specifically the standard ASP.NET header is sent to the client instead of the header crafted by the ASP.NET application

Date: Fri, 04 Feb 2011 12:15:04 GMT
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.1
X-Powered-By: ASP.NET

My question is - where does this header come from exactly? Who is responsible for producing it and sending it to the client? Why would is be sent to the client instead of the once crafted by the application?

Web Forms :: Validation Causes Cursor To Reset?

Feb 3, 2010

I'm assuming this behavior is due to the postback. I've written a little test page to demonstrate this problem.

http://cm-rosestate.mine.nu/test.aspx

There are three textboxes here, you must enter more than 2 characters for a textbox to validate. When the page loads tab into the first box and type 'abc'. Then tab into the second box and the page will validate. However, when it postbacks you'll be reset into the first textbox again. How can I accomplish a more smooth transition from one control to the next?

I have a form with about 20 textboxes on it, all of which have a customvalidator on them, and it would be much easier if the page were navigable solely by the keyboard without having to lick each textbox every time.Code is available if needed.
