View 1 RepliesI am trying to access unmanaged code(C++) dll in my asp.net web application project. I created a class to access library functions to be able to use in my application. The DLL is located in Bin Folder of my project. I was able to work with it fine on my localhost server but when I try it on the server where the application is hosted, it gives me this error:
Security Exception:
Description:
The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.
Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException:
System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission
Given the following simplified code block in ASP.NET
<% foreach( item in Model) { %>
<%=item.OriginalText.OriginalText1 %>
<%} %>
OriginalText is a class which may be null. I am looking for a simple (clean) way to check for this null and return an empty string ("") instead.
What is the difference between UnManaged code & UnSafe code???? Explain with an example

what is the difference between “managed” vs “unmanaged”? I am a beginner in C# ASP.net
I have created a C++ dll. It works fine and does the job. I have created methods in asp.net that call the methods in C++ dll. DLL path is absolute. It works fine too. I then published the website onto a folder and hosted the website on IIS. I get an error message Exception Details: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'FilesCreator.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
View 1 RepliesI have tried this on two different controller methods now, and both times, even if the linq2sql doesn't allow the data to be saved, the code never jumps into the catch block.
I've watched the noun object in the middle of the trace, and the isvalid property is false, but the modelstate isvalid is true. Either way, the code never jumps into the catch block.I'm pulling my hair out about this. I feel like it will be something really silly.
The code all works similar to nerd dinner.
NounRepository nounRepository = new NounRepository();
Noun noun = new Noun();
try[code]...
I'd rather not have to add code in this manner though, as it seems like an unnecessary duplication.
I have 2 separate code-block asp.Net expressions in an aspx markup, with an html content between (span element in the example below). In the first code-block, there is "i" as an increment variable for the for loop.Then the code-block is cut with an html content.And another code-block expression is opened but as I see I can reach the "i" variable which was declared in the previous code-block.
So, how asp.net handles -compiles- the pieces of code-block experrions declared in the mark up? Does it check the semi-colons and generates some anonymous methods which will end up with many calls to Response.Write in the last place?
<p>
<%for (int i = 0; i < 30; i++)

while doing debugging i found a blue dotted corner around catch block, while hovering it is showing system.exception...what does it mean and what to do
View 1 Repliesregarding one issue I am facing. I created a httpmodule for hadling the unhandled errors and I need to log those errors using log 4 net in database.Everting working fine but I am not getting any error information once the error was hadled and I need that info too. I want to make it as a centralize module which can trap all errors and log those errors.How call application_error event of httpmodule from catch block...so that I can log that info there and I no need log in every catch block..

View 1 RepliesI have a asp.net 2.0 application connecting to a SQL database. Sometimes while browsing through the application, we stumble across the OutOfMemory Exception. I am currently using VS 2005. What is the best way to tackle this exception. Maybe something like a memory profiler...or something like that.
View 4 RepliesI've written a custom FilterAttribute that implements IExceptionFilter. But this only catches exceptions in the controller actions. What is the best way to handle exceptions in views and html helper methods on a Windows 2008 64-bit Server running IIS 7
View 4 Repliesi got this exception when i done the code given below..
"Unable to evaluate expression because the code is optimized or a native frame is on top of the call stack."
--code--
try
{
if (retVal == 0)
Response.Redirect("Success.aspx");
}
catch(Exception error)
{
Response.Redirect("errorpage.aspx");
}
finally{
}
from searching in net i found it to be a bug and if its success then we should end response... ie " Response.Redirect("Success.aspx", false); ".it works fine.. is this a good method or there is any other efficient method to handle this exception
I have a textbox that invokes a function on text changed. When the function encounters exception, I want to throw the exception back to the caller. But the problem is the caller is from .aspx file, not .cs file. How can the caller handle the exception?

I am using Session variable throughout in my application and my timeout is 1 hour. Here I need to catch the exception for session expires in any global way across my application.
View 3 RepliesFor example, I am using wenclient.DownloadfileAsync to download a file asynchronously.
In the DownloadFileCompleted event handler, I can check if I have any exception or not by using AsyncCompletedEventArgs.Error property.
If I re-throw this exception, however my executable is stopping running immediately.
I am wondering how to handle this kind of exeception? How to pass this exception back to the
calling thread?
i'm using asp.net 2.0 form with ajax. i have an ihhtpmodule which can thrown an exception at Application_EndRequest step. my problem is that if this happen in an async postback (i mean a postback of an update panel) i can't manage the exception (with manage i mean set a custom error message server-side) becouse it's too late for the error handler of the ScriptManager.
(the alert will print a message as:
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.
Details: Error parsing near 'MyButt" />
|<html>
<head>)
at the moment my idea is to clear the response in the module and find a way to use the scriptmanager to send the correctly response of an error/exception. it's this possible? or samebody has another option of how to manage this case? note:i can't edit the aspx to manage this client client side with custom javascript
I am converting the entered values in textbox into decimal values to saev in sql table. In case user does not enter any value i get a Format exception. How do i handle this..
My code is as below
DMLObj.Add("ItemID", Convert.ToInt32(drpitemname.SelectedValue).ToString());
DMLObj.Add("SupplierName", Convert.ToInt32(drpvendor.SelectedValue).ToString());
DMLObj.Add("Quantity", Convert.ToDecimal(txtqty.Text).ToString());//qty.ToString());
DMLObj.Add("Unit", Convert.ToInt32(drpunit.SelectedValue).ToString());

I made a web form in asp.net and I am using loop to add button on the page. But problem is this, I'm not able to handle event of it.
View 3 RepliesI've created an array of buttons like static Button[] myButtons = new Button[3];
and then creating and adding buttons to my panel like myButtons[i] = new Button();
myPanel.Controls.Add(myButtons[i]);
in my code behind.
How can I handle the events that occurs when a user clicks these buttons, like using OnClick="myMethod" with regular buttons?
My web application some times gives error 'The handle is invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070006 (E_HANDLE))' on server. I never comes on production server. Then I just upload the bin folder again on server and it starts running fine. I don't know what is the actual reason behind this.
Some experts suggested Min pool size =1, I applied that but no luck.
I have attached error image.

In .NET is it possible to get the HttpContext of the current page from within an external class?
So, for example in my page test1.aspx codebehind I've got:
Dim blah As New FeedWriter()
blah.Run()
But inside FeedWriter.vb, can I get the HttpContext of test1.aspx? Or would I have to pass it in to Run()? (I'm unwilling to do the latter because FeedWriter implements an interface which will need to be re-written if it's to take arguments)
