i wanted to know how i could delete a file in a directory by going onto a page, in the page load event, i would like to know which code to write that will delete the file.

How would i delete a file that is in that location
Running winXP and Visual Studio 2005. Using only the Development server at this stage:
Have added asp.net machine user in Windows for the directory in question
Have set up web config as

Problem: In test environment using VS development server, want to allow all users (will change to specific roles when implemented) to add and delete files from the directory App_Data. I can successfully upload files, but when I attempt to delete a file I get the error....
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:Documents and Settings.......App_Data' is denied.
I want to learn how to add/delete/update account (including adding mail boxes for new users). Can someone point to a good book where I can begin from. I want to start with some real basics and build from there.

I have a ListBox1 on the Form that I read in the same Directories: "GetS" as in the code below.
Now I select the first index wich is 0 in the listBox with the mouse and press Button1.
What the code below does is to find that specific folder that also contains a .BMP file and a file: File1.txt
So I will first delete the .bmp file and the File1.txt and at last the directory.
My problem is as follows. When I press Button1 the First time, nothing at all was deleted but the second time I press the Button1, the .BMP file and the File1.txt were delete fine.
But the code breaks at this line and says that the directory isn´t empty. But the directory is empty as I can see when open it manually.
So initially my problem is why the .BMP, File1.txt and the directory aren´t deleted at the first press of Button1 ? (ListBox1 has AutoPostBack set to TRUE and everything is put inside an updatepanel)

I am doing a project, In that i have to store some content in excel file and should have to save as sample.xls. If the file is already Exists, then have to store sample1.xls and again if it is exists, then sample2.xls...like that.... How in c# code.
Actually, I have developed an Website. In that, one page contains a message text field, If a user typed some text & clicked save button, that content should be store in excel file and save in different name with sequence series..
Error message says there is another application using that file at the moment.However, I cannot find where the problem is since I have already disposed all the instances based on that file.What's more odd is after I close the debug page, I can easily remove that page in OS file system.

I am creating an image converter which convert an image from one format into another format,what i am doing is i am calling a dll file(.cs file which is doing the conversion) from my program but i am facing a problem in that when i call the dll file it creates a unique guid for every image and then process it and convert that to another format and provide the result back to the calling class which saves the file by whatever name i want to save and then delete the guid file which were created in the root folder,everything is working fine but when i delete the file containing GUID it gives me an error saying that the file is already used by another process,i have checked everything many times.

After the file is uploaded, Users can fill up other question in the web page. then users click the submit button to register them and the file is uploaded previously is move to special folder and is saved there. Know i want to delete the uploaded file if the user upload the file but dont click the submit button and close the web page. because i dont need the file uploaded until the user is not registered.I use Session_End event but i dont know why it dont work.

My scenario is like this:
When the user click on a button, it will dynamically generate a .xls and prompt the user to download.I have used transmitfile but it doesn't allows the file to be deleted. I have also used outputstream.write but it doesn't delete the file after flush. Instead it will hold onto the .xls and no modification can be done to the file.
In my application a create a pdf document from code behind and save it in to the server folder.Then render it on a new window. my requirement is i need not keep it in my server. after user acess the page i need to delete it. how i manage it?

i want to ask U guys which Better Save Files into DataBase or save it on Directory on Server, where This Issue Required:
1-(Reduce Load on Server and didnt affect server Memory).
2- Security not important.
if they have the same result i will move to DataBase Saving.
I am developing website in asp.net,I am hanging up in following problem:
I have 2 subdomains (say admin.D1.com & sms.D1.com).
For security purpose, I want to save and retrieve image files at particular folder(say Fldr1),above to both subdomains.(File should be saved and retrieved from both the subdomains)

"The SaveAs method is configured to require a rooted path, and the path [URL] is not rooted."
I've seen various tutorials and scripts online which show how to create a directory tree which list the file name, size etc.My question is, I need a script that is basically a normal directory listing but it doesn't show the file extension. If anyone can even point me in the right direction it'd be of much help!

View 3 RepliesI am getting the access denied error while trying to delete file using the file.delete() method even though i have set permitted full control to NETWORK SERVICES user and IUSER_(user_name) and ASP.NET Machine Account users on the folder that contains the file to be deleted.
My page also allows files to be uploaded(to the same folder) and that part works perfectly fine but I get this UnauthorisedAccessException when I try to delete it at app runtime...pls do help me out folks..cant believe this error has taken my whole day..
