C# - How To Show Error For Entering A Duplicate Record In A Textbox, Exsisting In A Database

I am working on a project in .NET (C#), connected with a database. And I am entering values in database through 'text-box' control, for a part of the project. What I want is to check if the user entering value already exsists in the database and if so, shows error during that time only.
I have searched for any familiar post here, that could solve my query, but didn't get any.
my EXACT objective(if not cleared earlier):-
when the user enter the value in
textbox, automatically an event to
check any duplicate records in
database should occur. And if found,
displays an error message

Is there anyone know the reason why that there duplicate data in the database most of the time the information is same like name,description.but the unique id is different and the date time is got different millisecond.I confirmed that there r no loop condition on the code.

I never knew that there was something like when you enter <xx> in the textbox it gives the error, so my question is how can i avoid this kind of problem? and how can i avoid this error? I cant say to ppl do not enter this in textbox who know what ppl can do, so it is better to make sure you wont get error cuz of this.

I ve design a page that has nine text box name txtSubject1 to txtSubject9 with the visibile properties to be false.I now have a method called Save1, Save2 to Save9 depending on the no of subject selected from the dropdown.But i think that is not professional bellow is a sample of how i did't and i believe the textbox can n number of an array that can be selected from the drop down. i need someone to put me through how to insert this into the database out side the fake method i ve used.

I have a gridview with delete buttons for each record (I've used AccessDataSource). I have loaded the data in and have many duplicate records.
I just want to use the delete button delete each duplicate record while remains many duplicate records. For example:
I used the following query to load in duplicate records:

I’m working with VWD 2008 Express Edition.
Page upload.aspx allows users to upload files containing data from a GPS device, upload.aspx.vb executes code which allows me to extract some variables, these are just text, numbers and a date;- varName, varDate and varMaxDistance.
The variables are displayed in txtName, etc. on page upload.aspx
I want to store these variables in a database tracklog.mdf. At present infomation can be entered manualy using a sqldatasource control on page update.aspx
What I cannot figure out is how to create a new record by entering varName, etc directly into the database each time a user uploads a file.

I am trying to bind a record to a textbox using a Dropdown selected index change. I get the error.
Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'DrFirstName DrLastName,Ph.D.' to data type int. is it because I concatenate the name and prefix of the DR into the Dropdown list like this,

Now this AddGridAddBTN Temporarily adds a data row to a grid but won't submit that data to database, however AddGridSubmitBTN Submits the data to DB through foreach loop .
Now my query is i want to provide user a functionality that when he gets focus on Abbreviation Text Box OR Description Box and he after typing some data Press ENTER KEY , This ENTER KEY would provide funcionality as a AddGridAddBTN Button , and when he presses SHIFT + ENTER , It works like AddGridSubmitBTN Button , also i want to make Abbreviation and Description Field to be filled must !Â
Moral is that :
ENTER KEY WOULD DO : Generate a temporary row with holding previous values as it is actually doing on AddGridAddBTN Button.
SHIFT + ENTER WOULD DO : Enter the whole grid data thorugh foreach loop as it is actually doing on AddGridSubmitBTN Button.
I don't want to refresh my page on enter or shift enter pressing . This grid is binded through SQL DATA SOURCE ...
