Create A New Record By Entering VarName?

I’m working with VWD 2008 Express Edition.
Page upload.aspx allows users to upload files containing data from a GPS device, upload.aspx.vb executes code which allows me to extract some variables, these are just text, numbers and a date;- varName, varDate and varMaxDistance.
The variables are displayed in txtName, etc. on page upload.aspx
I want to store these variables in a database tracklog.mdf. At present infomation can be entered manualy using a sqldatasource control on page update.aspx
What I cannot figure out is how to create a new record by entering varName, etc directly into the database each time a user uploads a file.

When I create a new record by submitting an .aspx page the new record is not showing up. I have to navigate away from the page and back to it for the new data to show.

I am working on a project in .NET (C#), connected with a database. And I am entering values in database through 'text-box' control, for a part of the project. What I want is to check if the user entering value already exsists in the database and if so, shows error during that time only.
I have searched for any familiar post here, that could solve my query, but didn't get any.
my EXACT objective(if not cleared earlier):-

I'm working with Front Page 2003 & ASP v. 1.5 For an online auction, I have created a table with 3 columns: username, amount, highbid ORDERED by Amount DESC.
I want to look at the 2nd record in the table, create a variable from the "amount" field, add 1,000 to it and post it in the first record's "highbid" field.
Then display on my web page the first record "username" and "highbid"
I have been stumbling around with trying to create a custom query in the database results wizard of FP 2003.

I have a listbox filled with records. Is it possible that I select a record in the listbox and corresponding to it a textbox is generated? I want to enter comments in the textbox and finally save in the database the selected record of listbox and the data in the textbox corresponding to it.

When I run this page, signup.aspx, provide required fields and click submit, the page simply reloads and the database table does not reflect the newly-inserted record. How do I catch the error messages that might be returned from the sproc? how to change signup.aspx so that the insert occurs.

I'm having a question about retrieving data. I'm using VS 2008 and I have to create a new consultation record for a patient and I've already created a database with 3 tables, which are doctor, patient and consultation.
I have 10 records saved in consultation table, and I've made a aspx form which contains a DetailsView that ask for new consultation details to be added. But I have to be able to get the doctor and patient information from the database and put in the DetailsView, then fill in the rest of the consultation details. The information entered have to be written to the database in the consultation table. But I don't know how to get doctor and patient information from database and apply them into the DetailsView so that doctor who wants to add new consultation details can select patient and doctor information from the database.
I was thinking maybe I need to do a query with insert statement and apply into the DetailView,this is the query i have:

I'm very new on VWD, but I got the hang of it for the past 2 weeks(thank you for all the videos posted here in ASP.NET),but I'm really weak on the coding part(vb & c#),except for all the sample shown on the tutorials. Anyways, I have a simple project that
does insert, update & delete to SQL express using the details view. But to complete my project, I need to add a button that will create an event to restore the very last record inserted in SQL and display it back into the details view for minor modification
and nserted again as the newest record with the mod. I'm doing this so user, doesn't need to re-key-in redundant information, like names, original date & time etc, and just make modification on the description of the last record.....

how to write/use/implement a script that will allow users to enter a web application by clicking a button rather than entering their ID/PW? Seems like a lot of terminology around, SSO, Blind logon, yet all seem to be doable with an ASP script -
Web App contains detailed security for users, not all users are on Win AD, so that is not an option., I'm told (?) Do I need to use a spreadsheet to validate users access to the application, ?
Script that would pass "cookie" info and allow users to enter app without ID/PW. We have a custom logon.asp page the is using forms.

I've nearly finished the development of a project and would like to test its performance, especially the database query calls. I'm using Linq to SQL to search via usernames, but I've only got around 10 'users' in my database, so I can't really get a decent speed reading. How can I simulate thousands/millions of users in the database without actually creating new records? I've read about Selenium, but it seems that is good for repeat actions (simulating concurrent users?). Are there any other tools I should look into, or are there any options in VS 2008 (Professional Edition)?
