If I have a standard HTML textbox: I can retrieve the value using Request.Form. But how do I go about populating this textbox from the server-side? I tried Request.Form["txtTest"] = "blah"; but got a readonly error.

in a posyback button click event i get the status(condition ) from database by executin query as said earlier currently i have this controls visible true/ false on server side code in posyback button click event after getting the condition but as suggested by u as it takes longer time on server side to makes controls visible true false to do it on client side so in posyback button click event i assigned a hidden control with the condition value now i want to pass this value to client side script so that i can toggel the visiblity depending on hidden control value from posyback button click event i am activating the setype function in client side which has the code as mentioned...wht i need is pass the hidden value to clinet side & make & position the controls on client side.

I have a user control which contains a CustomValidator which is used according to whether a RadioButton is checked or not (there are several RadioButtons, I'm only showing the relevant one)
<asp:RadioButton runat="Server" ID="RadioBetween" GroupName="DateGroup" CssClass="date_group_options_control_radio" />
[code]...
There is some client + server side validation code (the server side code does exactly the same thing and is skipped for brevity)
<script type="text/javascript">
function ValidateDateFields_Client(source, args) [code]...
There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.
<script type="text/javascript">
//<![CDATA[
var ctl00_MCPH1_QueryTextValidator = document.all ? document.all["ctl00_MCPH1_QueryTextValidator"] : document.getElementById("ctl00_MCPH1_QueryTextValidator");
[code]...
Do i need to add something in to scope it? What's the best way to achieve this? If I disable the loading of the second control everything works fine.

I have a Repeater displaying some data that doesn't do what I'd like to see. If a certain condition is met (ex: parent.NumOfChildren > 0) I would like a hyperlink shown. Here is what I have so far:
<asp:Repeater ID="parents" runat="server" >
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:HyperLink NavigateUrl='<%# "Children.aspx?parent=" + DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"Parent_ID")%>'
Text='View Children' runat="server" target="_self" ID="Hyperlink2" NAME="Hyperlink2"/> -
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:Repeater>
In this case, the "View Children" link shows up for every item in my Repeater, but I'd like it shown only if parent.GetNumOfChildren() > 0. Would it be correct to try setting the Visible="true/false" property of the HyperLink? Is that the norm for this sort of problem? Or, is there a way to wrap the entire <asp:Hyperlink> ... </asp:Hyperlink> tag in an if statement that has a reference to the object that is currently being interated in the Repeater? Ie:
if(CurrentDataItemInIteration.GetNumOfChildren() > 0)
{
<asp:Hyperlink> ..... </asp:Hyperlink>
}
To me, the Visible="true/false" solution seems cleaner, if possible.

Regarding ASP.NET's GridView server control: Can I bind to a datasource in the code-behind, load the entire resultset, and then implement client-side paging without postbacks? If this isn't possible with GridView, I'm willing to implement a custom solution. EDIT: My GridView instance sits inside of a nyroModal (jQuery) pop-up div, which is why I need a non-postback solution.

Client-side filtering. Begin typing an Item name in the filter box above the "Item" column (Grid View) a live filtering will take a place to filter the input letter till the user find what he/she is lookin for.
you can see a live example in this website [URL]

I'm new to Jquery. My page looks something like this:
[Code]....
I got it to work using AJAX Control Toolkit, but I find it a bit cumbersome and rather slow. I want to use JQuery for this one.
What I want to do is when the user clicks on <img>Expand/Collapse</img>, divChild will expand/collapse and that row of the GridView will also expand/collapse according to the size of its content.

I have an existing GridView which contains the field "partner name". It is sortable by partner name.Now I need to change the Partner Name field and in some condition make it clickable and alert() something.
The existing code is:
<asp:GridView ID="gridViewAdjustments" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" AllowSorting="True" OnSorting="gridView_Sorting" OnRowDataBound="OnRowDataBoundAdjustments" EnableViewState="true">
<asp:BoundField DataField="PartnerName" HeaderText="Name" SortExpression="PartnerName"/> [code]...
enable me to access "lnk" by id and add to its attributes. However, I lose the Sort ability.

I have a list box (that uses a SQlDataSource) that has a list of jobs. I have a grid view (that also uses a SQLDataSource) that has the items used in each job. I want to bind the list box value to the gridview on the client side, i.e. when the user clicks on a different job in the list view I want the grid to show the items for that job.
Also, at formload I want the gridview to show the details of the first job on the listview.
