View 3 RepliesI am trying to set a hidden type value to x on Server Side and then access it with Javascript. I have tried multiple ways to accomplish this.
At the basic level this is what I am trying to do.
Aspx page
<asp:HiddenField ID="HidRowNumber" runat="server" />
CS Page
In IsPostBack
HidRowNumber.Value = EFileRowNumber.Text;
Javscript
var status = document.getElementById("<%= HidRowNumber.ClientID %>").value;
When I am debugin it say it HidRowNumber's Value has changed to x but when I access the value with JS it always returns ''.
I've got two textboxes running server side and have their visibility turned off. I'm using a couple of ASP.NET controls which require the textboxes to exist. However, I am filling them from the code behind and would not like the user to see this. Can the user turn the visibility on and see the values entered in the text box? I tried using FireBug, and I couldn't seem to select the visibility option in order to edit it. However, I'm quite new to Firebug, so there may be another way? Or does running it server side mean that the client can't ever view the contents of the textbox?
View 1 RepliesAccording to MSDN and the MCTS self-paced training, asp.net can use Hidden fields for client-side state management. The book material goes on to say view-state is more secure than hidden fields because the data is encrypted. I must be missing something here. I setup a Label and made it hidden. I can store data in this hidden label and it won't even be sent to the client browser. This not only works like server side state (note the runat=server), but this seems more secure than view-state because there's no need for encryption as the client can't even see the field.
<asp:Label ID="Label1" Visible="false" runat="server">secret info</asp:Label>

I have a textbox where data will be entered by user without any postback. I need to add the data to a variable or any hidden variable or i need to store data from all the controls on th epage in which user entered to a variable this controls in which user enters the data becomes visible on button click i mean a post back happen...
View 1 RepliesI am dynamically binding a typed list to a GridView control.
The Grid View Control is in an asp.net page that is wrapped in an asp:UpdatePanel (Ajax).
The first column contains a checkbox control.
Only one checkbox may be checked in this column.
If the user checks a checkbox, all other checkbox must be unchecked.
I am trying to achieve this using client-side script without success.
In the handler for the GridView's RowDatabound event, have attempted to add an attribute to the CheckBox contained within the cell.

As per my requirement, I am getting CompID, Company Name and URL from SQL database. I want to display just CompName and URL in gridvew. So, I need to hide the CompID in gridview. One way I can do BoundField field Visible to false but I need to retrive that compID id when user selected any of the row. if I set visible to false user wont see any compID in gridvew but I want access the selected compID also using SelectedRow.Cells[1].Text..
View 1 RepliesI'm evaluating two options of accessing a server side data on client side. Little bit confused about the efficiency or may be you can call it as finding best approach to do it.
I need to access a server side data may be an integer value in javascript on client side. I know about two options to do it.Create a public variable or property on server side and set it to javascript variable on client side as below:
var value = eval(<% =value %>);
Create a asp hidden variable and set value in this hidden variable from server side and access it through javascript using document.getElementById().
Which is the best approach and what are the pros and cons?
i have a grid as
<asp:GridView ID="dgv_passengerdetails" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
CssClass="pasdetailsgrid" BorderStyle="None">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField HeaderText="Seat No" DataField="seatno">
<ItemStyle HorizontalAlign="Center" />
</asp:BoundField>
[code]...
the string gs=null, if i click the button again then gs takes the value from textbox.
am using a Gridview and wondering if there is way to hide a column from the Gridview but still be able to access the hiden column value.I set visible= false for the column that I want to hide but when I try to get the value of the column, the value in the coulumn is empty.
View 1 RepliesI have a user control which contains a CustomValidator which is used according to whether a RadioButton is checked or not (there are several RadioButtons, I'm only showing the relevant one)
<asp:RadioButton runat="Server" ID="RadioBetween" GroupName="DateGroup" CssClass="date_group_options_control_radio" />
[code]...
There is some client + server side validation code (the server side code does exactly the same thing and is skipped for brevity)

function ValidateDateFields_Client(source, args) [code]...
There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.

//
var ctl00_MCPH1_QueryTextValidator = document.all ? document.all["ctl00_MCPH1_QueryTextValidator"] : document.getElementById("ctl00_MCPH1_QueryTextValidator");
[code]...
Do i need to add something in to scope it? What's the best way to achieve this? If I disable the loading of the second control everything works fine.
I want to get the values from the Invisible rows from my gridview. here is my code.

View 1 RepliesI am referring below url , there is one column which has some large data i dont want to show in grid, but on clicking show detail i want to show detail in Modal Popup, right now it shows blank data, is there any solution for it. URL..
View 1 RepliesRegarding ASP.NET's GridView server control: Can I bind to a datasource in the code-behind, load the entire resultset, and then implement client-side paging without postbacks? If this isn't possible with GridView, I'm willing to implement a custom solution. EDIT: My GridView instance sits inside of a nyroModal (jQuery) pop-up div, which is why I need a non-postback solution.
View 3 RepliesIn my project, In gridview i want to add a client-side confirtmation for deleting a record. Everything seems right, browser asks for confirmation, after pressing "yes", nothing happens in gridview as well at database. What's the missing point ? Also in gridview, after pressing edit button "ArgumentOutOfRangeException was unhandled by user code" exception occurs

Client-side filtering. Begin typing an Item name in the filter box above the "Item" column (Grid View) a live filtering will take a place to filter the input letter till the user find what he/she is lookin for.
you can see a live example in this website [URL]
I'm new to Jquery. My page looks something like this:
[Code]....
I got it to work using AJAX Control Toolkit, but I find it a bit cumbersome and rather slow. I want to use JQuery for this one.
What I want to do is when the user clicks on Expand/Collapse, divChild will expand/collapse and that row of the GridView will also expand/collapse according to the size of its content.
I need to write condition on client side within GridView itemtemplate.
<% if(Eval("item").Contains("keyword"){%>
<img src='<# Eval("imagepath") %>' />
<%}
else if(Eval("item").Contains("keyword2")){
%>
I have an existing GridView which contains the field "partner name". It is sortable by partner name.Now I need to change the Partner Name field and in some condition make it clickable and alert() something.
The existing code is:
<asp:GridView ID="gridViewAdjustments" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" AllowSorting="True" OnSorting="gridView_Sorting" OnRowDataBound="OnRowDataBoundAdjustments" EnableViewState="true">
<asp:BoundField DataField="PartnerName" HeaderText="Name" SortExpression="PartnerName"/> [code]...
enable me to access "lnk" by id and add to its attributes. However, I lose the Sort ability.
I have a gridview with a template field of check boxes.I have my rows color coded in BLUE color in the gridview based on a database value on page load.Now I want a button on the page to loop through the gridview and select the the checkbox for the rows that are in BLUE Color without a post back.
