C# - HtmlInputHidden Control - Stop Name From Changing?
Aug 30, 2010
I have an asp.net page and I'm trying to add a couple of hidden HTML input controls. I will be submitting this form to another site (PP) so I need the names of the controls to NOT change when rendered. Is there a way to make ASP.NET honor the name property that I set in the code-behind?
As an alternate, I don't need to dynamically create these controls, I can also just assign the value to an existing HTML field but I don't know how to do that with ASP.NET/C#
I have a custom control that inherits from .NET's CompositeControl class. This control overrides the CreateChildControls in order to build its child controls dynamically. I need the page to post back after a couple different javascript events occur on the client side.
In order to accomplish this, I create two hidden controls on the page so I can set their values with javascript, submit the page, and read the values out on server side. Here's is the code I use to create these two hiddens:
I have a C#/ASP.NET .aspx page that declares two controls that each represents the content of one tab. I want a query string argument (e.g., ?tab=1) to determine which of the two controls is activated. My problem is, they both go through the initialization events and populate their child controls, wasting CPU resources and slowing the response time. Is it possible to deactivate them somehow so they don't go through any initialization?
I use a validation control to check if value entered is numeric. When I type letter in the textbox, the error messages shows for a second, then the application continues, and eventually throw exception.
I'm going to add server side validation in code behind. But I wonder why the validation control doesn't stop the application. I don't see any difference between this web form and other web forms where validation controls work fine.
I am using Wizard control for password recovery. at first step I am checking the UserName with chkUserName(UserName.Text) function if UserName presents, the function will return the User Id and will navigate to next step, if UserName is wrong the function will return 0 and should not navigate to next step, but should stop at index 0 i.e. at the same step.
I have tried some solutions but it is navigating to next step in both the conditions.
I just updated my site to run off .Net 4 (mainly for SEO) and love it so far but now just got my first problem. I am updating the controls for my forms authentication, while I have updated the Login control and used the RenderOuterTable=False with no problem I am now updating the CreateUserWizard and it does not have a RenderOuterTable.
This is causing the page to look like butt because of the table, so the question is now how do I stop it from rendering the tables? When I search on google I find posts sites saying to use RenderOuterTable and others saying your SOL.
I can not see microsoft really leaving us SOL on this expectialy since tables are not supposed to be used for site layout and the hole point of RenderOuterTable was to let users avoid tables.
I've a grid view which could have huge data. When any control like a button causes the postback, I do not want gridview data to post back as it is not required and results in slower responses.
Editor-Control stops working when placed inside an ItemTemplate. See the example below. Editor1 is outside the ItemTemplate, Editor2 inside. When I remove the comments of Editor2, both Editors will not render correctly in the browser. Placing Width= and other properties did not result in a working editor-control.
I want get code for how to stop sending mail when email format is wrong in password recovery control and getting error message and also how to getting error message, means how to stop that.
How can I change the chart type of the chart control in ASP.NET 4. I have a drop down list that contains name of all the chart types. This is the code I came up with :
I have a calendar control and 2 flag buttons. One Finish and one Swedish. When i click the swedish i want the calnedar ( are gular one not the ajax toolkit extender) to show in swedish and the same for the finish button.
I'm basically trying to get a div containing a loading gif to show on my page at runtime. I call it from a button click event as well as in the code flow. It was working before I used the AJAX Update Panels. I've since taken them out as they were causing issues with RegisterClientScriptBlock. By the way, does commenting out the AJAX Markup like this...
In my user control I got this inline CSS in which I have only css classes... like I am not setting any attribute or whatever on some ID..got only classes like :-
.sp { backgrond-image :url(blah blah); }
and so on..
nothing of the sort
#id1 { /* set some property here*/ }
Now my question:-
Do I need to worry about system generated IDs if the CSS in my user control got only classes ? like in my page source..the divs ID changes from their original ID to something like ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder2_ctl00_Banner_divBanner after adding usercontrol and master page ...
so changing IDs shouldn't make any difference..right ??
I want to know if it is possibe and a general idea on how to do so: Populate a calender control's year based on a value selected by the user in a drop down menu.
The layout will have the general description of: 2 Drop down menu's side by side with one populated from 1900-2020 (the years) and another populated with January - December (the months). Once a user selects a year (which is a auto post back drop down box) the year should reflect on the load event, or on the index changed event on the drop down, and show the year / month that is selected in the drop down menu's.
Is this possible to accomplish? I thought it would be as easy as Calender1.SelectedDate.Year = 1909 ; however, this throws the error saying that this particular property on the control is "Read Only".
The problem is when am assigning my session table value to newly created table and if now am changing any coloumn name then the session table value also changing.
But my question is am assigning Session value to newly created table so how should session value should be affected?
I'm writing a script and need with being able to modify the ImageUrl property in a HyperLink control from the code behind page. It is meant to dynamically show an image.
I just need to know the correct format of the code behind to get this to work.

if i remove update panel the paging works properly how do i manage it with update panel
I am using an update panel in my ASP.NET code. My problem is very simple and straight forward.
There is button which send some group SMSs to different users.
I used update panel to show UpdateProgress on my page.
On click of the button I wish to hide the button and some other labels on the page.
The problem is that after clicking the button everything else works find but these control's state does not change.
Funny thing is when i click the button, it does some checks and update a label text with error resultant values, if error is there. It works fine.
But after removing the error, I click the button once again to do the processing. Then everything on code works fine, but the label which was showing doesnot hide.
I've just created a Menu navigation that's linked to a SiteMapDataSource (which is in turn getting data from a .sitemap file that I've created). It looks great and acts accordingly, but my only question regarding this is there any way to just change the style (font color, in this instance) of just one element in the menu item? I just want it to stick out a little more than the rest of the menu items.
I have a custom ascx user control on my page that includes a dropdownlist. There is an onSelectedIndexChanged event handler that is connected to this dropdownlist. The first time the user selects a value, the page does a postback and the logic executes correctly. However, if the user then goes to change their selection, the event handler does not get triggered.
i m using an ajax accordion control. i m generating the Accordion Pane, header and content dynamically. i have two cssclasses for header. now i want to do is like that for the 1st header there will be different background image then all other headers in the accordion panes. can any one tell me how can i able to do this? is it possible in the accordion control or not?
I have a simple user control(.ascx) with a asp label inside of it. Using the codebehind(C#) from a aspx page, how can I change the text of that label? I have tried using public classes in my user control and a few other things that I could think of off the top of my head. Can somebody give me a quick example of how this would be done?
