Jun 2, 2010
(I am developing a website to crawl the other website content in ASP.NET . I am able to get the content correctly but how can I identify which language is used based on that content. For Ex. English, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese etc.
I used following code.
HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(TextBox1.Text );
request.UserAgent = "A .NET Web Crawler";
WebResponse response = request.GetResponse();
Stream stream = response.GetResponseStream();
StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(stream);
string htmlText = reader.ReadToEnd();

I would like to create web site in ASP.NET MVC3 in english language and Turkish language. I would like to know what care do i need to take before designing web site?
Earlier my text box was running on this Validation Expression="^[a-zA-Z'.s-]{1,80}$", to allow only alphabets, ' . s . Now my text box should be capable of taking Chinese characters as well, so I was learnt online to use this p{L} for unicode instead of a-zA-Z, and set EnableClientScript="false".
We have a requirement wherein we need to translate all dynamic pages(i.e database driven pages) to Chinese language. Does .NET provide any API for this, or there are third-party APIs for the same. Which third-party is best recommended?
We are migrating a ASP application to ASP.Net 2.0 . Old applciation is displaying the Japanese characters perfectly. Its uses ADODB connection and command. ASP.Net uses ODBC to connect. But the characters are not displaying properly in Japanese.Charset used is "shift-JIS".
I have an application to create report in english and arabic language.In SQL report server 2008 R2, Is it possible that single report work for english and arabic language? In arabic language we have to change some title in arabic language and also have to support mirror, means all columns start from right to left( default behaviour in arabic site, language).I have searched and found it is possbile with RDCE(Report Definition Customization extension).

I work in a multi server , multi webfarm environment (without sessions). We need to be able to identfy if a customer has arrived here for the first or has been before (even though they have not logged in)Not only will we change the text of our salutations depeding on this state but we will also use it in other busness logic. I can check for the existance of a cookie when they fire the Session_onStart event but I would have to write a cookie out to show they had previously visited for the next time the customer came to call.
If I wrote the cookie out in the Session_onStart then somehow I would have to tell the website that this was a first time visit. Also as this is a stateless webfarm - the next server may be different from the previous one which would fire a new Session_onStart event in its own right - which would see the cookie and assume it was not my first visit, even though it was my first visit on a different web page of the web site.
I dont want to write it out and say if its within X minutes of the cookie creation time you are still in your first visit as that x minutes wouldnt work 100% of the time If I dont write the cookie out on Session_onStart then when could I write it out?
The content of the web site I am creating is expected to store data for multiple languages. What I mean by the content is the actual data stored in the database (SQL Server 2008 R2). For example I have a database table to store available packages and one of the columns in this table is the description which is shown on the web site. This description should be stored in multiple languages for example (en, fr, de). What is the best way(s) to get this done, I can of course have the same table with multiple columns (each column representing a single language) and code the data access layer to load the proper column based on the current language, but is there an easier way? An ideal situation is where like in ASP.NET the database automatically detects the current language and return the proper column
I have a master page 'Master1' and i have used a content place holder 'content1' and loads pages 'Page1' and 'page2' in the 'content1'. Is there any way to identify which page is loaded to the content place holder whether it is 'Page1' or 'Page2' dynamically.
