C# - Pass Package Variable To UserControl

Dec 8, 2010

I try to pass Package variable to my UserControl: <uc:Template ID="Template" runat="server" Package="<%=TemplateParams.SimpleSearch %>" /> but with no luck - in UC it gives me <%=TemplateParams.SimpleSearch %> string instead of SimpleSearch parameter from TemplateParams class.

im creating site with usercontrols. I have repeater, inside it is another repeater with usercontrol. My problem is passing BindedValue to usercontrol.Bindings works fine and binds the value i need but it cannot pass the value to usercontrol. When i type it manually it works, when i bind it, it passes null (!).I've tried get,set, functions (ondatabound, onload, oninit), accessing control from code with no luck. Ive read and tried to do all the google solutions but with no luck. (even with creating usercontrol inheritance)

I downloaded and installed VS 2010 Ultimate as a trial and I received "sucessful" message at the end of the installation.

But when I opened VS 2010 Ultimate I received this warning "The 'Visual Studio HTML Editor Package' package did not load correctly.' error message".

The next thing I know is that all the Toolbox icons are grayed out (I tried to create a .NET web application). There is no design/split pane.

Execute An SSIS Package From C# - Package Keeps Failing?

I'm looking for any and all information on how to execute an SSIS package from my asp.net web site. I have written the call and when I run the application from (Localhost) it works, but when I run it from the server it does not.

Here is my code to call and execute the package:

Again this works from my local machine running from localhost, but not from our live server. I have turned on impersination to see if that worked and still getting the same result. The file is written successfully to the server without issue, but I'm just lost.

Web Forms :: Add Usercontrol With Variable Button Events

Jul 30, 2010

I have the problem that when i┤m adding my usercontrol to my default page the events do not fire. I already know that I had to add the usercontrol as soon as possible to the lifecycle, but I can┤t because I know the number of buttons after clicking on my default button.

code:

my default.aspx.cs page
protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e)

{
int anz;
Int32.TryParse(((TextBox)tablePruefstand.FindControl("tbPruefstandstationen")).Text, out anz); //here i┤m getting the number of buttons
Session["anzStation"]=anz;

aP.anz = anz;
Session["ucPruefstation"] = aP;
phPruefstation.Controls.Add(aP);

C# - How To Pass A Type To UserControl

Feb 19, 2010

I have a UserControl (lets say Foo.ascx) that has a Type public property with the name Bar. I am looking for a way that when i declare this usercontrol in the source view of the markup part to pass a type. for example

<%@ Register Src="~/Controls/Foo.ascx" TagPrefix="prfx" TagName="fooCtrl" %>

and then use it as

<prfx:fooCtrl ID="theId" runat="server" />

if for example i wanted to pass to the control the type of string (such as typeof(string))
something that would have this effect

<prfx:fooCtrl ID="theId" runat="server" Bar="typeof(string)" />

how can it be done? Before anyone asks, the reason is that i have many other properties in this usercontrol that i pass in this manner and i want to avoid using the CodeBehind just to pass the Type

Web Forms :: Retrieving A Property / Variable From A Webpart Usercontrol?

Jan 19, 2010

I need to read a Property/variable from outside the webpart usercontrol to determine a course of action. This is not the same as using the Property Editor.

I have numerous usercontrol webparts all accessing the database.

When minimised, I don't want the webpart to hit the database.

So, I need to either : detect within the usercontrol webpart itself that its chromstate is minimised and therefore not access the database (and)or from the Webpartmanager loop through webparts, determine those that are minimised and set a variable / property within the webpart to inform it not to access the database on postback.

Something like...(pseudoCode)

for (int i = 0 ; i < webpartmanager1.webparts.count ; i++ )
webpart wp = (webpart)webpartmanager1.webpart[i];
if (wp != null)
if (wp.ChromeState == PartChromeState.Minimized)
{
// set a known variable in this particular webpart so it can determine whether to refresh its datagrid or gridview or whatever
}
}

OR
Can a usercontrol webpart determine its own ChromeState ????

What Are The Available Ways To Pass A Parameter To A UserControl

Jan 29, 2011

What are the available ways to pass a parameter to a UserControl ?I know the session option but actually I don't prefer it because it'll retain when any exception is occurred. I mean I prefer something like the QueryString (rely on the call or request).Note: My UserControl will be shown throught a modal popup using JQuery.

Nothing worked. With the second one (what's meant to be the easiest option) I tried with delegates and events (but can't access de usercontrol event from page) and tried with properties (I can access properties but they're always empty)

Pass Values From MasterPage UserControl To Child ASPX Page?

May 4, 2010

Senario: Masterpage with a UserControl and a child ASPX page

In the past when using this senario I've used an Interface as a way to pass a value from the UserControl (embedded in a master page) to the masterpage code behind then consume that value in the child aspx page.

My question is now that asp.net 4 have arrived is this still a good way to achieve this or is there another or perhaps better way to do it? I've read somewhere that perhaps "delegates" is perhaps another route to take.

User Controls :: How To Pass Value From UserControl (ASCX) To Page (ASPX)

Jan 19, 2014

I have two files in my project. One is user control (popup) customerpicker.ascx and one is default.aspx page. In customerpicker I have dynamically generated gridview and 'select' column with SelectButton.

What I want is this: When I click on 'select' on random row in gridview, then I like to display value from selected row immediately (like ajax) to aspx.page. How it is possible?

There is part of my code in .ascx:

public string showOnaspx { get; set; }
protected void GridView1_SelectedIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewSelectEventArgs e)
{
GridViewRow row = GridView1.Rows[e.NewSelectedIndex];
showOnaspx = row.Cells[1].Text;
e.Cancel = true;
}
protected void GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
GridViewRow row = GridView1.SelectedRow;
//row[i].Attributes.Add("onclick", "$('#ContentIndex_sometextbox).val(" + row[i].Cells[1].Text// + "); $('#Close').click();");
}

I also tried with jqeury (comment in selectedindexchanged function), but it does not work well, because user have to click SELECT two times to effect.

Configuration :: Web Setup Package Not Creates The Setup.exe And Only Makes .msi Package

Oct 5, 2010

I have a web setup package project alongside an old .asmx web service. When I build it I only get 'MyService.msi' and not the 'Setup.exe' in the 'Release' folder after build. Normally the .msi suffices for installation, but on Windows Server 2008 R2 I am getting denied from installing the .msi pacakge. I can only install .exe packages after right clicking and stating "Install as Administrator".

The server admin is still new to 2008 R2 and not sure why I can't install an .msi because I am an admin, so for now if I knew how to get that web setup package to generate the Setup.exe file as well I see my other VS.NET setup packages create.

C# - How To Pass A Variable Through Url And Use It Inside A Controller

Mar 17, 2011

I have this controller:

public ActionResult Details(String UserName)
{
using (var db = new MatchGamingEntities())
{
var Users = from m in db.Users
join m2 in db.MyProfiles on m.UserId equals m2.UserId
where m.UserName == UserName
select new UserViewModel
{
UserName = m.UserName,
LastActivityDate = m.LastActivityDate,
Address = m2.Address,
City = m2.City,
State = m2.State,
Zip = m2.Zip
};
return View(Users.SingleOrDefault());
}
}

I type in the url Profiles/Details/hello, but it does not work, if I do Profiles/Details?UserName=hello then it works. I have another ActionResult just like this except taking in an int id as parameter and it works fine with the first url format.
