C# - Read ASPX Files From Filesystem And Render To HTML?

Jun 30, 2010

Is it possible to read an .aspx-file from the filesystem, probably translate it into the Page-object and then render it into HTML? And then writing it back to the filesystem as a .html file.

The .aspx file on the filesystem is without the codebehind file. If possible provide me some example code.

Start To Create HTML Website With 2 Tables Read From Csv Files

May 25, 2010

I want to design a website which displays on loading two tables each with it's respective data from a csv file. Then every minute the website automatically refreshes. This problem seems so simple! But yet the solution eludes me.

All of the files will be contained in 1 directory, not on a server but on a local machine. Such as sitting on the desktop. I understand if I use javascript I have to use ADO, and I'm still trying to work out how to use ASP. I am new with both languages. So far the only restriction is that I can't use PHP. So the jist so far as I can think right now is:

1. read the file
2. place the file into an array by splitting at the commas
3. write the array into td's ?????
4. then print all this out into a div ????

I have googled my heart out and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. or even piece together what I'm looking for. Everything with javascript and ADO's leads me to dead ends, I can't find anything on ASP that is helpful. Could someone write up some sample code for a resource? Or have a better solution?

Forms Data Controls :: Repeater Template-Render Different HMTL Based Off Database Read?

Feb 4, 2011

I have my repeater loading in plain text from a database right now e.g.

<td>
<a href="<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "URL")%>">
<img alt="<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "AltTag_Thumbnail")%>" src="<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "URL_Thumbnail")%>" />
</td>
<td>
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Name") %>
</td>

My plain texts are image links and pdf URLs from a database table, in groups, in the correct order but I'm not sure how to render them correctly (sample image below shows what I am trying to render)

Is there any way to make a repeater template intelligent enough to render an "image link" OR "pdf link" based off the [type] column returned in the record?

table:
pk
Name
Type (image or pdf)
URL
Description
URL_Thumbnail (if image)
GroupId (associate these records to each other)
OrderNumber (order of these records within their GroupId)

Suddenly I ecnountered with some error regarding one of the settings inside the config file and the strange thing happens- my content of the config file get's rendered in the browser in the form of error. This is a big security issue for me. My question is how to prevent the content of my config files from rendering in the browser. Note I have already this setting in my web config:

<customErrors mode="Off" defaultRedirect="errors/default.aspx"/>

I am wondering why did not it redirect to error page? we had the settings turned onstill it displayed the straight error.

I've inherited a bunch of code that has server script inside of .htm files.

On IIS, a handler mapping pumps.Htm pages though the asp.net engine.

Unfortunately, visual studio doesn't notice that they should be treated as code.

Is there any way to make VS treat .Htm files as code/aspx files?

Response.Redirect("/index.aspx")

MVC :: HTML Helpers Does Not Render ID?

I just upgraded my mvc 1.0 project to 2.0 using the wizard. My project builds fine however, my html helpers that I have used, does not render the input's ID tag. For some reason, only some controls render and some do not. For example:

[code]....

I thought it had to do with the fact that the value is empty, but from the two examples, they are nearly identical. Is this a bug? All was working before I upgraded.

Auto Generating Code-behind Files From .aspx Files?

Nov 9, 2010

I have a designer working on several pages in Dreamweaver. The designer is creating .aspx files with the Page directive at the top. These are getting shipped to me and I'm adding them to the Visual Studio ASP.NET WebForms Web Application Project. The problem is that there's no code-behind file by default, and I'm trying to find a shortcut to have them autogenerated as if I've added a fresh page from Visual Studio.

Web Forms :: Render XML Code In HTML?

May 9, 2010

I have an application that renders HTML code to allow users to preview an email that the app sends out. The HTML is held in a string that is then put into the text property of a label. This is working fine, but now I need to also add XML to the HTML string for an email listener when the user clicks the Send button. The problem is that the XML tags are being ignored by the browser.

Here's the HTML string with the XML (at bottom):

MyHTMLString = @"
<HTML>
<head>
...
</head>
<Body>
...
<SomeXMLTag>TagContent</SomeXMLTag>
</Body>"

This string is then assigned to a label for previewing:

lblPreview.Text = MyHTMLString

But only "TagContent" appears and not the XML tags! Obviously, the HTML is ignoring tags it doesn't understand. How can I get the tags to also appear?

Can Server .html Files Using Razor As If They Were .cshtml Files Without Changing The Extension Of All My Pages

Feb 24, 2011

I manage a large asp.net site which has previously been converted from static html site to asp.net. For several reasons (mainly SEO) we decided not to rename all the files to .aspx back when we originally converted the site. This was very easy to do by simply adding the buildProvider and httpHandler to the web.config.

<buildProviders>
<add extension=".html" type="System.Web.Compilation.PageBuildProvider"/>
</buildProviders>
<httpHandlers>
<add path="*.html" verb="*" type="System.Web.UI.PageHandlerFactory"/>
</httpHandlers>

Now I am upgrading the site to use Asp.net WebPages with Razor cshtml files. I can rename all the files if necessary, and use url rewriting to make the urls stay the same, however it would be much easier if I could just configure the web.config to tell it to parse .html files as if they were .cshtml. I have searched around quite a bit, and could not find anything equivalent to the PageHandlerFactory for razor pages. It appears as though it is just an internal mechanism in the .net 4.0 ISAPI handler.

The site is currently running on Windows 2003 server and IIS 6. We will be upgrading to 2008/IIS 7.5 in the near future, but I'd prefer not to wait for that. Is there any way to get the .html files to be parsed by razor as if they were .cshtml files?
