Forms Data Controls :: Repeat GridView Header In Footer?

Feb 28, 2010

I have a GridView with column headers that include text and images. I would like to have the header essentially duplicated at the bottom of the GridView. how to accomplish this? I have found some internet resources that have explained how to use the GridView PreRender event to add an extra footer row but I'm trying to find a simple way to populate that row with the same text and images that appear in the header row. I am not using header templates. I am using the footer row of the GridView as the "insert" row.

DataGrid Header Text Set Dynamically But Not Being Retrieved

Mar 26, 2014

I have a DataGrid defined with columns such as:

Code:
<asp:BoundColumn HeaderStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center" ItemStyle-Width="10%" DataField="MONTH_PREVIOUS_YEAR" HeaderText="Month Hours (Previous Year)" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Right"></asp:BoundColumn>

At a certain point in my program, I successfully re-set some of the Header titles programmatically:

Code:
Private Sub dgAccountability_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridItemEventArgs) Handles dgAccountability.ItemDataBound
If e.Item.ItemType = ListItemType.Header Then
Dim previousYear As Integer = (Integer.Parse(year) - 1)
e.Item.Cells(1).Text = "YTD Hours " & previousYear.ToString

Forms Data Controls :: Dynamically Binding Dataset Table Values To Datagrid's Header Column?

Jun 29, 2010

I want to dynamically bind dataset values into datagrid's header datafield.

Is it possible? To be more clear, when you click on datagrid's (Collection) from properties window, you get selected columns created from Bound column. So in those columns I want to dynamically display dataset's table values in those columns.

i.e like ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][0].

Is it possible to do it in Datagrid ItemDataBound function like,

e.Item.Cells[1].Text = ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][0]

or something like this? I know the above code is wrong and wont work since I tried it out and while building it throwed error saying, Cannot implicitly convert type 'object' to 'string'.

DataSource Controls :: Static Value Vs Repeat Calculations?

May 13, 2010

I'm building a site where users can purchase 'credits' and buy items on the website with them. I'm wondering, what is the best way of storing the user's overall Credits value? Is it best to do a SUM() of all Credits they have purchased before from the 'Credits.Orders' table, or for performance purposes when they add credits to their account, should it increase a 'Credits' field value in a 'Users' table? For consistency purposes I would like to go with the first option, but the second option sounds better in terms of not running loads of pointless calculations every time I need to know their credit value.

DataSource Controls :: Perform SUM On Results That Repeat?

Mar 2, 2010

I have the following query:

[Code]....

The results look like this:

DocumentNumber NIIN QtyReq AvailBalance
12345 015551212 2 5
12346 015551212 1 5
12347 015551212 3 5
12348 015554787 10 12

As you can see, the first 3 documents are for the same NIIN, and their total QtyReq is 6, however there are only 5 Available for this NIIN.

I need a way to remove the document 12346 because it cannot be filled, the other 2 document can though. I cannot figure this one out, but it seems like it should be pretty easy.I am using MS SQL Server 200

C# - How To Repeat HTML Parts With Minor Differences On A Page

Mar 19, 2010

I've got HTML code like this :

<div>
<img src="image1.jpg" alt="test1" />
</div>
<div>
<img src="image2.jpg" alt="test2" />
</div>
<div>
<img src="image3.jpg" alt="test3" />
</div>

The data is comming from a DB (image name, alt text).

In JAVA, I would do something like :

save the info in array in the back end.

For the presentation I would loop through it with JSTL :

<c:foeach items="${data}" var="${item}>
<div>
<img src="${item.image}" alt="${item.alt}" />
</div>
</c:foreach>

What's the best practice in ASP.net I just don't want to create a string with HTML code in it in the "code behind",

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview To Repeat Vertically?

Aug 2, 2010

I'm working with a databound gridview that has two columns: a checkbox and zip code. It works fine but upon rendering, it is a very long and skinny two columns which requires the user to scroll down a lot in their browser. I'd like it to be more user friendly and not require so much scrolling. tried to repeat it vertically by adding additional checkbox and databound column but just ended up with duplicate data, not continuing data from the bottom of databound column 1 to the top of databound column 2.Is there any way to repeat the columns vertically and have the data continue?

State Management :: Sessions Consistently Lost- Until Repeat Visits

Apr 23, 2010

I have a session state that myself and others on my team have been bashing our heads against the wall for the past week. We have tracked it down to the following:

1) Frame page containing content pages creates a session

2) Content page creates a session, stores data in the session

3) User changes drop down list with SelectedIndexChanged autopost back and displayed fields are changed using an UpdatePanel. A new session is created, data stored in the prev. session is lost
4) User posts back, no session is created this time, however the post back fails because the session from step 2 is lost.

Now, a user closes the page, comes back, and it actually starts to work:

1) Frame page containing content page opens (no new session)

2) Content page loads data, stores in session (no new session)

3) User changes drop down list with SelectedIndexChanged auto postback and displayed fields are changed using an UpdatePanel. Sesson NOT lost

4) User posts back form, success

ASP.NET on the first visit to the site insists on creating 3 sessions, we log it in Session_Start. I can't think of any reason this should happen. I've been told the frame will always be on a seperate session; thats fine, its only being used to setup scrolling
within a frame in Dynamics CRM. The biggest question is why when we insert data into the session in step #2, it is discarded in step #3.... but only during the first visit to the page!

I've never seen this session behavior before; we don't have any session abandonments in our code, and we never clear session objects, so there shouldn't be any reason for the session to be lost.

SQL Reporting :: Steps To Repeat Table Headers In SSRS 2008?

Feb 23, 2011

1) Select the table

2) At the bottom of the screen, select a dropdown arrow beside column groups.

3) Enable "Advanced Mode" by clicking on it.

3) Then under Row Groups,select the static row and choose properties or press F4.

4) Set the following attributes for the static row or header row.

RepeatOnNewPage : True
KeepWithGroup : After

When we export the table report in SSRS 2008 as a word document, the table headers won't repeat when the table spans to multiple pages. The reason is the table report is exported as an inner table. So, Microsoft Word doesn't support header repetition for an inner table.
