public class ProgressBars
{
public ProgressBars()
{ }
private Int32 _ID;
private string _Name;
public virtual Int32 ID {get { return _ID; } set { _ID = value; } }
public virtual string Name { get { return _Name; } set { _Name = value; }}
}
here is List collection
List<ProgressBars> progress;
progress.Sort //I need to get sort here by Name
Note: I'm working with MVC3 RC and Razor views.I've got this model:
[Code]....
I want to have a strongly typed create view for this model, that allows you to insert 1 to many addresses and phone numbers as part of the view. Ideally, the Action is strongly typed as well:
[Code]....
What would this view look like to facilitate creating 1 to many Addresses and PhoneNumbers, as well as having the state re-created correctly if the ModelState fails when posting? I've tried a number of variations including EditorTemplates and can't figure out how to do this.
List<Dictionary <string,object>> I am reading about the list and collection, If possible, what are the different ways that I can utilize the list of dictionary collections..... gives me different examples or areas where I can use it.
My Grid is bound to a collection type datasource. When I try to sort the Columns in the Grid I get Javascript error saying sorting event not implemented. Why is the default inbuilt sort functionality not working which worked fine when I directly used a sqlDataSource using smart tag. Do I have to write some code to achieve sorting ?
now, what i want to do is to place few textboxes on a view that allow users to input the Answer Text. after click the submit button. i want List<AnswerInfo> which contains the Text information pass to the controller. can anyone tell me how to do it?
I'm looking for a good way to add arbitrary properties to the objects in a strongly typed list, based on the principle that I shouldn't pass a DataTable from my business layer to my presentation layer.For example, I might have a Category class with the properties CategoryId and Title. On one page I would like to fetch a list of all categories (ie. List<Category>) together with the most expensive product in each category.A while ago, I would have just returned a DataTable with some additional columns in it with the product data in, but I'm trying not to do that -- it would be trivial to set up it's not good practice. One option is to add a MostExpensiveProduct property to my Category class, but I might want to display the most recently added product in another case, or the cheapest product, so I'd end up adding a lot of properties to cover all the options. This just doesn't feel right to me.Am I missing a trick here? What is the best way of doing this? Or should I just be returning a DataTable to which I can add as many columns as I need and not worry about it?
If I have a specific order that I want to sort my List by, how do I do that? For instance, I have a list of items (coming from a database), with ID's ... and they come in order, i.e 1, 2, 3, 4. After receiving this list, I'd like to reorder the list above based on a specific order, e.g. 2, 4, 1, 3. How do I do this without complicate it too much?
I have a class called Questions. This Questions has properties QuestionID and QuestionAnswer. My list of Questions has QuestionID like 2,3,4,15,12,24,22,,,, etc I need to sort this List of Questions Object based on QuestionID and store in another Questions object.
the specific example i am referring to is this site [URL] notice the sort by drop down list. basically i want to sort products according to price,name,popularity? do i have to requery the database and retreive the sorted data in gridview again, or should i already sort the items in the gridview that are already there? I tried to this but its the wrong approach, basically i was trying to repopulate data in the page load event, which was giving error.
want to create a list representing a list of valid locations on a grid. Items can only be stored in these valid locations and I want to locate the "next available" valid location. If I do this with a traditional list I have to deal with the end of list conditions. A circular list collection would make this a bit easier. Is there such a collection in .net?
I am trying to correct the sort order of my ASP.NET drop down list.
The problem I have is that I need to select a distinct Serial number and have these numbers organised by DateTime Desc.
However I cannot ORDER BY DateTime if using DISTINCT without selecting the DateTime field in my query.
However if I select DateTime this selects every data value associated with a single Serial number and results in duplications.
The purpose of my page is to display data for ALL Serials, or data associated to one serial. When a new cycle begins (because it is a new production run) the Serial reverts to 1. So I cannot simply organise by serial number either.
When I use the following SQL statement the list box is in the order I require but after a period of time (usually a few hours) the order changes and appears to have no organised structure.
I have a check-box-List which I bind to a master dataTable(DTA)... I have another dataTable (DTB) which has the values that needs to checked in the check-box-List... So I loop through all items in the check-box-list to see if it exists in the DTB and set checked = true for those items that exists. Now I want to show the checked items first in the Check-box-list box and the unchecked items below that. Is there any way I can do it... A similar solution for List-Box could also be helpful. A Javascript hint is welcome too.
how do i get the [Display(Name="Some Title")] DataAnnotations "Some Title" rendered in the List scaffold view's output?
I create a strongly typed list scaffold view for this class:
public class CompanyHoliday { [Key] [code]...
However i don't want "Date" and "Name" in the table header - i want "Datum" and "Feiertag Name" rendered there dynamically. The actual column header titles should come from the Display Dataannotation.
I have this program in which I am trying to store a collection of values into a list and session
Example:
valueCollection = (List<Values>)Session["Value"];
I want to do the front end in a way which will show a table with each row showing a label and textbox. This would be too simple to do obviously but I want it to show 4 rows of the table by default and then the user can select "add another" this will then add another row onto the table with a label and textbox exactly similar to the 4 default. Everytime the user selects "add another" the table increments by 1.
Now what I need change to in the above code to get the combination of both..otherwise i need have textbox for description which syncs with ddl..which is bit complex for my level of programming.
I personally dont like doing this as i find it makes it harder for me to know if someone changed the field name, or mis typed it during development - the other way you won't know until the page loads.
With the strongly typed version if something changes in your DAL etc the build will break - letting me know I've messed up.
Why do so many people appear to use weakly typed code in ASP.Net (in examples, MVC, etc)? Am i missing something?
For this i am using row filter and filtering the values in the Dt and then i am binding the dt back to the ListView here i am getting the problem as "The data source does not support sorting". I am aware that i am changing the data source, but before binding the datasource manually to
dt,
i hav tried doing this to make the datasourceid null which i hav attached previously
lvSalesLayOut.DataSourceID = "";
But i am getting the error post me how to get this done programatically.
I created user control. It has string[] public property (it may be List<string> or whatever). I want to support defining this property in aspx code, when declaring the instance of this usercontrol. Something like this:
We need to create a simple web service in ASP.NET that can be called from PHP or other languages. This in turn will be used to update records in a database for an item submission.
The core part is fairly simple, we have a base set of fields for the object - first name, last name, birth date, city, etc. In addition however we need to accept a list of items associated with that object that can range from 0-n.

What would be the best way to structure this so it can be easily passed to the ASP.NET web service and processed as a single call for the entire object? Would passing the list of items as a single delimted string be a wise approach? Ex: Jan 1 2009, ABC|May 1 2010, 123|Jun 30 2010, XXXXX
Given the benefits of using strongly typed views to eliminate typed errors and the use of lambda expressions why would one use a dynamically typed view? When I use them I don't feel as safe as with strongly typed views. Am I missing something? Is there a special use for them?
I'm using forms authentication in my C# based web site, with the authentication defined in web.config files in the various folders/sub-folders. I want to write a generic administration menu system, that lists all of the admin pages that the use is authorized to open. As I add pages, I want them to automatically show up in the menu. I need to obtain a list/collection of all pages that the active user is authorized to open. Is this possible in ASP.Net 3.5?
