View 3 RepliesI just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
View 1 RepliesUsually using Visual Studio's debugger is a breeze. Scanning through Locals quickly shows the values of variables, etc. However, I'm at a loss how to find out the values contained in session state variables? Can anyone give me a hand?Lets say I put a breakpoint right after:
Session("first_name") = "Rob Roy"
How do I view the value contained in Session("first_name") from locals?
i have visual studio 2008 and ms office 2007..when i try to develop a web application in vs 2008, i didnt able to open the design view of the web page.. i can only able to see the source view..came to know by googling as, there is some compatibility issues between vs 2008 and ms office 2007 in web authoring components.

I upgraded a project from Visual Studio 2005 to 2008. Now when I'm in the design view of a dataset (an xsd file) and try to add a new column a get an error message:"Failed to add column. The server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 are supported".But if I add a column from Visual Studio 2005 to a SQL Server 2008 database it works fine.
View 2 RepliesIs there any tool for Visual Studio 2008 which can reformat ASPX code to make it more presentable (eg insert line breaks, format the lines so they wrap when necessary, etc)?
View 5 RepliesI downloaded VWD 2008 express months ago. Don't know what happened but my design view went.I have reinstalled the application several times but no success. I posted this problem on several forums and got many suggestions like uninstall office 2007, reinstall web authoring component, install n et.framework 3.5 which is not compatible with Win7 and does not install, so I have net.framework 4.0. I tried to bburn the iso file installation package, burnt it to a dvd and install it from the media, nothing. My pc is a Compaq Presario CQ61 Notebook running Win7 Home Edition.

I'm trying to publish my ASP.NET web application in Visual Studio 2010. I'm then trying to install it as a website on a server using IIS. I've gotten my application to publish (to a .zip file) but it points to the physical directory on my hard drive. This obviously will not work on the server.

i have a very annoying iis problem
iis server stops working until app pool is recycled
i am hoping that new visual studio (net framework 4.0) may solve this very annoying unsolveable problem
I have been working on this project for weeks. Every thing was fine. But all of sudden today, I got this error: Page cannot be displayed when I was trying to debug as usual.
I searched online for solution. Only one solution was found at [URL]. But when I followed its steps, I found in my hosts file, it is already like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost
I cannot continue to work without testing finished form pages.
suddenly, with my Visual Studio 2008 I can no longer debugging my web applications (ASP.NET 3.5). I obtain this error: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Click Help for more information. Auto-attach to process [8360] w3wp.exe' on machine 'DELL' failed. The weird thing is that I haven't done special changes to my IIS.

View 1 Repliescan Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I'm creating a app that uses a Master Page.
But when i go to Design View of the page (for creating the events automatically or for drag/drop any new control from toolbox, I don't want to type everything) the design view only shows the master page! the page controls are complete ignored!
