Page_Load Events Executed Every Time A Page Was Loaded Not Just The First Time?

Aug 5, 2010

I thought that Page_Load events executed every time a page was loaded not just the first time. Am I wrong on this?

I have a Page_Load event that writes text to a label to display on the screen: Output.Text &= "Welcome to my Website <br />" (Output being the ID of a Label control)

I also have an On_Click event for a button to display the same information: Output.Text &= "Welcome to my Website <br />"

After clicking the button, I expected to see the output twice. Once for the page being reloaded and once for the click event. I thought that Page_Load events executed every time a page was loaded not just the first time.

Web Forms :: How To Read That OnClick Is Executed On The Server And OnClientClick Is Executed On The Client

Dec 4, 2010

I've read that OnClick is executed on the server and onClientClick is executed on the client. Is it better to use OnClientClick to do something like close a modal popup?

If my understanding is correct then this would avoid a trip to the server to accomplish the same task. This would be great for something that doesn't need to make a round trip to the server and back.

Urlrewriter Page Not Executed?

May 3, 2010

I'm having some problems with the module urlrewriter.net for ASP.NET.I have a multilingual site with a URL like this;

~/home.aspx
To support languages I use this rewrite rule;
<rewrite url="~/de-DE/(.*)" to="~/$1"></rewrite>

Then in my code I get the de-DE part and set the right culture for the current thread. All of this works well. After I login on the website I get a message "Hello, user x" to show i'm logged in. When navigating to another page, it doesn't display this message anymore and it seems like the page comes from the cache or something with the old (not logged in) data. Also, when I attach the debugger, nothing is executed for this request. If I visit the page like ~/home.aspx instead of ~/de-DE/home.aspx, does problem does not occur.

AJAX :: Multiple Panels And Validators - Postback Is Halted By The Validators In The First Panel

Jul 21, 2010

I have a page where I am using 2 update panels. The first update panel contains a form that has some validation tied to it. The second on has a simple form, but no validation. When I go to use the form in the second panel, the postback is halted by the validators in the first panel. Everything works as it should when I remove the validators.

MVC :: Master Page Is Executed Before Content Pages Controller/action?

Mar 24, 2011

I think normally the execution sequence is content page's controller first, then master page (I have some inline code).

But now I have a situation that master page's inline code is executed before content page's controller.

Web Forms :: Page Goes To Error After Click Before Page Fully Loaded / Invalid Postback Or Callback Argument

Oct 25, 2010

When user cliick on the control before page fully loaded it goes to error page.

Following is the trace.

Execution Error

Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

In the button click event of the FORM, i.e. OnClientClick(), I am calling a javascript function to validate the controls in this same page. Due to this the required field validators are not getting fired.

I need both the javascript function be fired on the button click , as well as required field validators also to work efficiently.

Web Forms :: Required Field Validators Are Being Triggered By Other Buttons On Page?

Jul 15, 2010

I have created a form with several textboxes and a dropdown list and assigned a required field validator to each of them. I also have a master page with several links to other pages, some made using <a href=..> and some linkbuttons. The problem I am having is that when I click the linkbutton links they do not redirect to the proper page, rather they trigger the validators for all textbox fields and display the validator characters next to each textbox (and the dropdown). When I fill out the form, those links redirect properly. The links created using <a href=..> do not cause this problem.

Load Gridviews After Page Has Been Loaded?

Oct 4, 2010

I am trying to have the page fully load up and then after that load my gridviews as they take some time to generate..

Right now I do it with a timer and an update panel with the timer being set to 1 second which works perfectly fine but..

I don't want the page to be using the update panel when they click any button on it etc., I want it to function as a regular page. What is the solution to this?

If i want to use this layout for multiple pages, what is the best way to do it so later on if I decide to change something in the layout I wouldn't have to go through all of these pages just to change 1 item.
