C# - Compare If String Has A Enter Key In The End Using Jquery/javascript?
Apr 15, 2010
I have a string value from a user input box. I have to figure out if last char is a enter key (line feed).
Thats the code. Here I am checking if last char has a whitespace. Now I also have to check if last char is enter key (carriage return or line feed). How can i do this?
var txt = $get("<%= txtUserText.ClientID %>");
if (txt.value.substring(txt.value.length -1) !== ' ' || <checkifLastCharIsEnterKey>)
//my code to take action
**I don't think i need a keypress or keyup event because this above piece of code is not invoked at the time of user input.
I have implemented some javascript to handle the keypress of the "Enter" key to click a certain button. This has worked well on several pages but I have one that does not behave:View:
[Code]....
May return controller:
[Code]....
When I actually click a button, the value assigned to strButtonClicked is correct.Example: Click "Login" --> strButtonClicked = "Login"When I hit the "Enter" key, I get a different value.Example: Hit enter --> strButtonClicked = "I forgot my User Name and/or Password"Below is a View that works correctly:
I have a page with multiple textboxes and each has a button associated with it. This works as a search 'hub', I suppose, where the user can search by ID, name etc. When entering a search term for e.g. name however, pressing enter 'clicks' the very first button on the page (ID search), causing an error if the associated textbox is empty (which it would be if someone meant to search by name). I have attempted to rectify this using JQuery, and have written the following:
I'm simply using the click event so that I can monitor where focus is redirected, but eventually I would use .keypress. However, nothing happens upon clicking a textbox and I can't see for the life of me what is wrong with the JQuery. To elaborate on the problem, the .NET code used looks similar to the following throughout the page.
How to set colModel property of jqGrid dynamically? I want the grid to show only 3 columns when a customer log's in and 5 column's when admin log's in. How to pass colModel in a string variable in javascript?
my column data is from 'nvarchar' type and the data for my text box is from string type. when i want to compare these value , the expression always is false . even when the values are equal. i use Convert.toInt32 for my column have dataType int but in this part i want compare two string type.
I have a textbox for a child's name. The user may enter just the first name, first name + middle name, or first name + middle name + last name for their child. How do I separate this string of texts appart so that I can compare it to the parent's last name textbox before inserting into the database? For example, if one part of the three parts in a child's name matches the parent's last name textbox then delete this part out of the child's full name before inserting into the database.
it still does not work, the user writes appendix then press OK in Login, nothing happens
here is the login (vb.net)
Partial Class login Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Session("passcode") = TextBox1.Text Response.Redirect("Default.aspx") End Sub End Class
and here is the default page C#
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Session["passcode"] == "appendix") { Response.Write("OK !"); } else { Response.Redirect("login.aspx"); } } }
I have a textbox control with a calendarExtender. I want to make the user select a date subsequent to Today. I have a public function, called display_error, written that displays some text in case of validation not successfull. So in this case, the validation of the date inserted by user would look like [Code]....
So, my textBox.text is a string, which I need to convert to Date to compare it to Today. Here's what I've written [Code]....
I've tried different methods, like Parse, but I keep getting the same error, String was not recognized as valid DateTime.
I'm just stumped on what to do with this code, I'm just trying to implement a 'no duplicates' catch on my insert customer form, but it just slips through my if statement to the else everytime. This is the source. Also I tried a .Equals with the same results :(
Protected Sub srcAllClients_Inserting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSourceCommandEventArgs) Handles srcAllClients.Inserting 'Establish Variables Dim emailAddress As String Dim srcUsers As SqlDataSource = New SqlDataSource() srcUsers.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ISSD21ConnectionString").ConnectionString Dim view As DataView view = DirectCast(srcUsers.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), DataView) srcUsers.SelectCommand = "SELECT EmailAddress FROM ISSDClients" srcUsers.DataSourceMode = SqlDataSourceMode.DataReader Dim reader As IDataReader reader = DirectCast(srcUsers.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), IDataReader) emailAddress = FormView1.FindControl("txtEmail").ToString While reader.Read() If reader("EmailAddress") = (emailAddress) Then lblError.Text = "Your Email is NOT Unique!" 'this is where we cancel the update and return an error Else lblError.Text = "Your Email is Unique!" 'nothing needs to happen, maybe just tell them that it went through End If End While reader.Close() End Sub
if i have string with "1,2,3,5" how can i have another record at least to have "1,2,3,5" in new data if it is "1,2,3,4,5" then it is true. if the new data is "1,2,3,4,6" , then return false becuase it is missing 5.
I'm new to JQuery and recently started using the validation plug-in. I have a scenario where user have one of those type in your password and confirm your password textboxes. This is easilly accomplished with the "equalTo" rule how every my requirement is that once this failed the error message should be displayed and the textbox cleared. I assume there is no short and easy way todo this without writing javascript functions. point me in the right direction with a url or example.
Then a question to all you JQuery experts I've noticed "digits" and "number" to me they do the same thing? If not then explain the differance to me. Also how do I do a validation group in jQuery, similar to the asp.net validation controls assigned to a group and activated by a certain valodation enabled button?
I'm trying to compare a parameter of type String with a database field of type ntext. Below is my vb code. carDescription is a field in the database table that is of type ntext. The code didn't work because you can't use the equality operator.
Dim carDescriptionLookupCmdString As String = "SELECT carMake FROM car WHERE carDescription = @description" Dim carDescriptionLookupCmd As New SqlCommand(carDescriptionLookupCmdString, dbConnection) carDescriptionLookupCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@description", description) Dim reader As SqlDataReader = carDescriptionLookupCmd.ExecuteReader()
I apologise for the newbie question, but if i have a (e.g) textboxKeyword and i type in "Pets" into the box and instead of having to use my mouse and click on my 'Go' button, I simply hit the 'enter' button and the event gets fired and my datagrid gets filled with all my search criteria. What's the event / code that I would use on the 'textboxKeyword' ?
Users don't like the fact that the Enter key submits the page. So I am tasked with preventing the submission and changing the Enter key to a Tab to the next field. I have tried many javascript snippets found on the net but none have worked so far. The only one that has even come close to having an effect was e.preventDefault() of the jQuery API, which stops the submit, but nothing I have tried emulates the tab behavior.
e.returnValue = false; e.cancel = true;
Page still submits with the above in the keydown event handler. Same effect with return false in the keydown event handler. The handler is firing, tested by putting a breakpoint in it with firebug. This needs to work with both IE and Firefox. Don't say "don't do this".
1) I'm already convinced that I shouldn't do it, but it's not a choice that is mine, so the discussion is mute.
2) It would be an answer to the question "Should I do this?", which is not the question that I am asking.
When attempting to place controls in different content areas using Masterpages and trying to use a compare validator, I get the error: Unable to find control id 'txtStartDate' referenced by the 'ControlToCompare' property of 'cvlDate'. I have also attempted to set it within the c# code behind in page load: cvlDate.ControlToCompare = txtStartDate.ID and by using findControl there must be an easy way to achieve this?
Basically I have a Search Text Box with a LinkButton Control on which the click event is fired. now what i want is when the user type keywords and press enter the Click event got fired. So No Javascript Only ASP.NET With VB.NET v2.0
I am having trouble with something, my client wants to be able to hit <enter> as well as click the button on this page:-
[URL]
If you look at the Blue "Postcode search" and try searching for a nursery byb clicking the button you will see how it works. However then try doing the same but hitting <enter> and see what happens..
The front end html is as follows:-
PHP Code:
[code]....
I tried adding javascript so it would recognize the button and allow users to hit enter but this did not work.
