Added <Body onkeydown = "return(event.keyCode!=13)"> into a VS2008 masterpage. Did this to disable the Enter key from basically doing a button click event. The code works great, however, we use multiline textboxes that were accepting Enter to do a newline in the textbox. Now the multiline textbox does nothing when Enter is pressed. Is there an override that would work on a single form that loads behind the master page? Ref: your Disable Enter key in TextBox to avoid postback in ASP.Net.

I have a string value from a user input box. I have to figure out if last char is a enter key (line feed).
Thats the code. Here I am checking if last char has a whitespace. Now I also have to check if last char is enter key (carriage return or line feed). How can i do this?
var txt = $get("<%= txtUserText.ClientID %>");
if (txt.value.substring(txt.value.length -1) !== ' ' || <checkifLastCharIsEnterKey>)
//my code to take action
**I don't think i need a keypress or keyup event because this above piece of code is not invoked at the time of user input.

I've got a webform in asp.net 3.5 that has two submit buttons. Each button has a corresponding textbox controlTextBox1 and Button1TextBox2 and Button2Button1 appears first on the page.When the user is entering text in TextBox1 and presses the <enter> key, the event handler for Button1 is fired appropriately. However, I want my users to be able to click the <Enter> key while Textbox2 has the focus, and have the event handler for Button2

I am using the JqGrid in my application and in one page I use the setGridParam to change the url and then call the trigger("reloadGrid") method. If the result json response is empty (no row data) my code end up in an infinitive loop reloading the grid. I have checked the gridComplete event and its not triggering the reload. Have any off you guys seen this before or know anything about it?
View 5 RepliesI have a page with multiple textboxes and each has a button associated with it. This works as a search 'hub', I suppose, where the user can search by ID, name etc. When entering a search term for e.g. name however, pressing enter 'clicks' the very first button on the page (ID search), causing an error if the associated textbox is empty (which it would be if someone meant to search by name). I have attempted to rectify this using JQuery, and have written the following:
$('input:text').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$(this).next('input:button').focus();
});
I'm simply using the click event so that I can monitor where focus is redirected, but eventually I would use .keypress. However, nothing happens upon clicking a textbox and I can't see for the life of me what is wrong with the JQuery. To elaborate on the problem, the .NET code used looks similar to the following throughout the page.
<tr>
<td style="width:100">Company ID</td>
<td style="margin-left:3px;">
<asp:TextBox ID="...TextBox" runat="server" Width="230px"></asp:TextBox>
</td>
<td>
<asp:Button CssClass="Button" ID="...NameSearch" Text="Search" runat="server" /></td></tr>
This is generating this (view source):
<td><input name="...TextBox" id="...TextBox" style="width: 230px;" type="text"/></td>
<td><input name="...NameSearch" class="Button" id="...NameSearch" onclick="javascript:__doPostBack('...NameSearch','')" type="button" value="Search"/></td>
I have control like below
<textbox1>
<textbox2>
<dropdownlist1>
<radiobutton1> <radiobutton2>
<checkbox1>
<textbox3>
<button1>
I want to change focus on enter key press.
I came across the below article, I would like to know how to properly respond to the drop or stop event so that I can show the Save button only once someone changed the order. In other words, I would like the Save button hidden initially, only to make it visible once a drag and drop has occurred.

cmdUpdateVendor.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@RecID", SqlDbType.VarChar, 50));
cmdUpdateVendor.Parameters["@RecID"].Value = Request.QueryString["Rec_ID"];
cmdUpdateVendor.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@empid", SqlDbType.VarChar, 11));
cmdUpdateVendor.Parameters["@empid"].Value = txtEmpIDNumber.Text.Trim();
cmdUpdateVendor.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@VendorName", SqlDbType.VarChar, 100));
cmdUpdateVendor.Parameters["@VendorName"].Value = txtVendorName.Text.Trim();
The code does not throw an error of any sort.
why the textbox does not contain a value?
Ok, setting the PostBackURL property of the submit button to the PageABC.aspx resolved that issue. Anyone know how and why the postbackurl property would resolve something like this?

But how do you enable/disable all the validators within a ValidationGroup?
In ASP.net, I'm using textbox in templatefield's itemtemplate. I got it data-bound with no problem. But my problem is, I'm trying to write a function to find column index by its data-bounding table's column name.
Something like this :
foreach (DataControlFieldCell cell in row.Cells)
{
if (cell.ContainingField is BoundField)
{
if (((BoundField)cell.ContainingField).DataField.Equals(SearchColumnName))
{
return columnIndex;
}
}
else if (cell.ContainingField is TemplateField)
{
//Finding column name of data-bound textbox or dropdownlist ??
}
}
