C# - Consume WCF On Windows Server 2000 OS?
Jan 29, 2010
Windows server 2000 does not support .NEt 3.5, so its not supporting WCF? We, lazy, did not consider this before creating WCF application (Server, client, listener etc). My Client Console application is compiled in 3.5 just to consume WCF. I can recompile Client app to framework 2.0. to able to run it on Windows Server 2000. But how i am gonna consume WCF? Any word around? Or do i really have to go back to Web services (by dropping WCF app)?

I have a website running on a private Ip 1.2.3.4 with url "www.xyz.com" and which has external IP 7.8.9.10.
My question is If I want to add one more website on same server with different URL "www.pqr.com" What am I suppose to do? Can I use same External IP for the new website or Do I need one more External IP? And even if we can use same external IP for both website How do I route request to particular website.
Note:- My network is behind firewall and I have internal DNS server as well

I have been reading about adding a webservice to an MVC project and how this might conflict with the MVC structure. I added a webservice and it works with windows phone 7, it receives a number, (it's a simple application). I added the webservice by right clicking the Controller folder and selecting add new item->webservice. I am using the SOAP support already integrated in visual studio. I was wondering if there is a way that instead of adding a webservice that the windows phone 7 receives and sends data directly to the controller. The windows phone 7 communicates by right clicking on the solution explorer and adding a service reference.

I'm currently developing a web application using SQL Server 2005, ASP.Net MVC, ASP.Net SQL Membership Provider (for authentication and authorisation), and Linq to SQL. Everything works great and is running as planned in the development environment.However, the production environment has a SQL Server 2000 installation, and we are unable to obtain a copy of SQL Server 2000 to use in development.Upon deploying the web application to the the production environment, what options do I have for migrating the database (schema + data) from 2005 to 2000?

I am using SQL Server 2000 and ASP.NET 3.5.
I want to implement WebParts in my site. But while running my code it shows me an error :
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I have a table in SQL Server 2000 with a text field containing XML that I need to display on a C# ASP.NET 2.0 page. I need to retrieve the XML and then filter out a list of about 80 possible elements (or white list 20 possible elements to keep might be better). I can pull the xml out of the DB and display it on my .aspx page, but I am not sure how to filter out any elements first.
Example XML
<Message>
<MessageNumber>
1234
</MessageNumber>
<MessageType>
Auto Notice
</MessageType>
<UPMessageNumber>
5501
</UPMessageNumber>
<MessageID>
121223
</MessageID>
<ResponseTo>
654321
</ResponseTo>
<DateTime>
2010-11-10 09:35:00
</DateTime>
</Message>
In this case I will need to filter out the UPMessageNumber and MessageID before displaying it on the page.

I was previously told the production system was sql server 2005, but now I'm told it is actually sql server 2000... does linq to sql support sql server 2000? I'm using linqdatasource controls to bind to gridviews utilizing it's builtin paging and sorting features..

I am trying to consume a Web Service via my ASP.NET website. I added a Web Reference and was able to consume the Web Service locally. Then I moved it to my Server and it fails with a message of "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".
